What IS that smell? (Explosion)

  • DM

The Magistrate when not under defender guard from his advisor in the courthouse and engaged in a considerable volume of paperwork, is often seen going to the jailhouse with his advisor and various personally known defenders in tow.

He is seen openly asking, and demanding progress on this investigation of the senior guard officers and has been seen asking for General Dunderstone to make haste with the investigation into this atrocity.

  • Council of Moradin

The gigantic hole that merged the sewers with the Icelace Lake has been magically filled and there are dozens of people busy pumping out the water. With each day the smell subsides and things seem to be going back to normal.

  • Legion

General Grag aproaches the gates and takes a whiff of the air and is shortly seen walking back towards Jiyyd

"they bes call Foilir an dolvak exrtermination.. they only ones tha like the shitty jobs… chuckles a bit and runs back to Jiyyd making a trainee run a lap through peltarch in the smell first

  • Cray's visits to the Docks district continue. He can ocasionally be seen walking around the area while hiking up his fine robe with his hands. The smell is obiously bothersome to him as he walks around with a grimaced expression. Even so, there is definatly a slight grin on his face at the same time.

  • _Deacon seems to be hardly bothered by any of the proceedings, spending more time out of the city than inside, rumours abound that he even moved to Oscura.

While he does make clear he regrets the loss of the many civilians, those identified as bloodspiders merely deserved to die in his opinion._

    • The dwarf sniffs the air and scowls.. *

<d>it nae boar… nae chicken... wut'eer it be, dat fool is ruining deh meat! anna it need salt....

    • Shrugs and walks off *</d>

  • Before the bodies are burned, Ting seems to be taking great care to intrude herself and check the fingers of the blood spiders found. She is clearly looking for a ring, but it is not clear why.

  • The large half-orc Private Erugdish Greikoos of the Legion has been seen asking where he can have a bath….

  • Council of Moradin

Three full days of clean up and the streets are clear of debris and sludge, but the smell remains. The sewers are still so full of water that at high tide you can look down the dark grates and see the water less than a foot below.

A crew is busy removing the worst of the sludge from the dockside. Once in a while they come ashore with a body. Nearly a dozen more have been pulled out from around the opening of the hole that was the epicenter of this disaster.

Bodies are still being carried from the docks to the pyres in the western fields to be disposed of. These macabre processions thru town are causing many people to avoid the streets. Never in Peltarch's history can anyone remember such a massive and swift loss of life. The official death count stands at 83 and the sewers haven't even been explored yet.

The Guard is out in force patrolling the docks. They conduct house to house searches and arrest many people. Any who resist are beaten and taken by force to the jail. A good number of people are moving out of the city temporarily "because of the smell."

Publicly there has been little news, but on the third day criers announce an official statement will be made at City Hall. A large crowd gathers and waits until Senator Bravickus comes to address them looking weary and worn.

    @20c2384549:

My fellow citizens. It is with a heavy heart I stand here today. Several days ago the wall that separated the sewers from the Icelace Lake were destroyed by an explosion which caused the sewers to flood almost instantly. It is this that caused the catastrophe we see on our streets and in our homes. More importantly, a large number of city workers and their guards were killed while inspecting the sewers. Their loss will not soon be forgotten. Such an immense loss of life weighs heavily on us all.

But more than pity for the death of so many faithful servants of Peltarch we should have a rage! A rage to find the person responsible for this act of terrorism! We will find this person or group and see to it they are incapable of such vile assassination again!

::Bravickus walks back into City Hall and the crowd disperses::

  • Though very obviously bothered by the smell, the young crossbowman of the Black Sails takes the time to say prayers for the women and children found.
For some odd reason though, he throws a bolt on every pyre for every body of a Bloodspider, giving a slight nod as he intently looks into the flames.

  • Mirkali -definately- chuckles beyond the grave knowingly at this

  • Nicahh is seen looking highly disgusted at the state of the city and of the foul odor that permeates the area around it. Packing a few bags, her and her adopted daughter, whom some are beginning to comment has not aged a day in the five years she has been in Nicahh and Anakore's care, are seen exiting the city. From the looks of the baggage, it may be a permanent move for the child.
