Legacy of the Aleaneldths
-
Admist the small mountain range on the western edge of Anauroch, in the vale of Evereska, lies a noble house, Aleaneldth, a line of elven patriats sworn to defend the elven lifestyle, culture and the very last city itself.
Al'fera Aleaneldth, a respected old mage, father of four, is head of the household. With slight wrinkles and long smooth silver hair, he calls into his presence his youngest child, Arikess Aleaneldth.
"Father." The young elf bows with respect, his eyes full of admiration and reverence for the age old wizard, who has spend many decades defending Evereska against would be tomb raiders who would seek to steal ancient elven art out of the city or against the remaining forces of the phaerimms who has plagued the city for countless ages.
"My son…you have come..." (soft tone)
"Yes Father. Why is it that you have summoned your child?"
"I wanted to check on you....and another thing... That aside, how goes your studies?"
"Well enough I suppose, I have mastered all and cantrips and many new spells of the lower levels. Master Duindain has taught me well."
The old wizard nods to himself, as if receiving affirmation for a speculation of sort.
"Good. You are ready then.""Ready?"
"Yes. I have spoken to your mother and I have decided..."
The young wizard becomes suddenly confused and stares with bewilderment at his father, awaiting. "Wha-?"
"You have grown up and of age now to, reach out to the world..."
"Father you are sending me out away? Why??"
The old elf sighs before continuing.
"Are you not grown up? One must move on towards one's call in life. Many of your peers are either already enlisted in the defender army or have went on to their respective callings. Arikess, I want you to go out into the world and learn. Books can never teach the true experience you require, only the road can. Going out into the world can expose you to what Evereska can't.""You will send me alone into the world of the lower denizens away from my kin?"
"There is always, kinsmen around child. No that's not the point, I plan for you to aid me son. The phaerimms are not yet defeated and they probably won't be anytime soon."
"Then keep me here that I may join in your duty."
"I already have your brothers for that Arikess. You are my youngest child and I want better for you, better away from the toils from years of fighting. I know you've always wanted to serve under me since young but I truly do not desire to see you being in my state decades from now, just carrying on this endless struggle..."
"But-"
"No buts. Tomorror. Tomorror you will set sail."
"Tomorror? Sail? You already have it all planned out? So you will have me cower away, leaving my family behind to carry the burden by themselves."
Alfera ignores and continues. "To narfell you will go. I have arranged for you to lodge within the city of Peltarch. I hope you will learn much in the outside world, it is a suitable place as well to carry on your studies in the arts, as there are various institutions there."
"Very well, if it is thy will Father." Arikess replies in an emotionless tone.
"You do not understand child. Your task is crucial to us. Narfell is a very different place ages ago, the old nars possesses advanced magic and technology we can only imagine! Even now, remnants of such ancient magic still stirs there. Go there, and uncover these powers, and perhaps it will be the key to turning the tide against the cursed phaerimms. Do you understand now? Your task is important. Trust me, I only want you to lead a better life, away from all this fighting."
Arikess' eyes mellows down. "Father..." He runs forth to embrace his father, not knowing when they will reunite again...
