OOC question for river and kanen
-
Should there be more Gnolls in the area near the camp then there are animated and spawned.
Also, should RP wise demons be popping up out of every Gnoll Slain.
Moreso because of this should RP wise most groups not be able to make it to the cold caves.
This came up in a case of possible "Exploiting" last night and it would nice to get an official OOC DM ruling since i've seen posts of "Swarms" and "armies" of orcs, goblins, kobolds, saurials, and other things and usually have never considered it more then animated unless its explicitly stated.

I know I have went down into the cold caves after the gnoll plot started and always just RPed that we found a way through that only had a few stragglers away from the main group of gnolls. Went straight into the caves and had a blast. I don't think anyone is wanting to seal up an area tight and keep people from adventuring. That's why folks play this game. And that's just my take on it.

There should be many, many gnolls in the area, along with traps, a demon or two, etc.
However…
Our goal wasn't to block off an area. Assume that one of the Gali (which you'd need to get to the area anyhow) has scouted a way through where there are fewer gnolls, if the goal is to reach the cave.
Obviously, the Gypsy scouts would be continually probing and scouting the area, trying to find what weaknesses and soft spots the gnolls had.
Assume that any path to the Cold Caves has been carefully gone over by the Gypsy scouts, the traps in the near area removed by them.
What we do NOT want to see is posts about how someone "killed ALL the gnolls so the problem is OVER!" as this is far from the case.

Not to mention the 45 minutes I took to set it up with my limited 2 hours a night of game time just to have someone in the middle think its exploiting.. not madd just for the first time ina long time got annoyed in narfell…. so.. yes .. would be nice to know and sorry for the semi flame... I just dont get ot play that much anymore and I felt tonihgt was a biiig waste...

Also, when giving an answer please take into account the "fun" factor when missing a DM is at one of the lower points in the history of narfell. THere are three, maybe four real "Fun" high level places to go gather a party and adventure…espicially since random loot while IN doesn't actually drop...in narfell, and the cold caves is one of them. Taking it away takes away one of the few places we have to really go without a DM anymore.
