Notable Citizens of Peltarch

  • Hjoichi Olsen

As to where it were he come from there's no real straight story on it. And the stories that do emerge are more like fairyland than somethin what makes a whit of sense. But was a time when nary a new soul did arrive in Peltarch what old man Olsen would show em the dangers and plight of the Western Foothills. Overrun by Menacers. Treacherous dealings. Careful plots to unfold and the like. More than a few of the powerful of Peltarch can claim their survival in early days on accounts of the old man's trusty shortsword or bow, or a well-timed bandage.

And though he's often busy of late, he still is known to show folks about the Menacer Foothills. Showin em the pathways and callsigns of the Near Kobold Foothold. Or if'n they have more skills than a farmboy he might show them the Lakeside Fortress. For them what are skilled and shrewed he can often be seen as an accompanying bowman, scout, and tactical logistian for raids on the Skull Fortress itself. Often times he'll chew folks' ears off on tales of the Deep Kobold Fortress what he saw long ago deep in Ogre lands.

He went through a period when he weren't about much, none seen him at all for near on seven years. And when he arrived back he was in rough shape to say the least. But he straightened up. Got mayhaps a bit harder some say, less tolerant of foolish maids and farmboys. More urgent even or more lost some others say.

He rose fairly swiftly through the ranks of the Far Scouts after Azrael took him on. Olsen's men and women were excellently represented before, during, and some say well after conclusion of the official war with the Eastlanders.

He drinks heavy and hard and often. He knows a great deal of history on account of his age. And generally is a happy old man. Though sometimes a wistful moment makes him pause and think. At times as this no one can truly say what is in his heart.

  • **Braeth Ma'fein of the order of the Shining Phoenix

_Having been in the region for some time, he has been through many ups and downs. the most striking thing about braeth that you will notice is his appearance. Anyone looking upon him could mistake him for nothing other than a Drow Elf. he is unique though, he has the heart and soul of a moon elf, but the body of a drow. rumors abound about him, but the most prevelant is that his body was altered at one point, so he could undertake a mission deep into the drow city beneath narfell.

Braeth can be seen.. or not seen.. depending on his mood, hanging out in the commons, as well as travelling the various cities and towns of narfell. prone to popping up unexpectedly.. don;t be suprised to find he knows more of you conversations and actions than even you can remember. He is presently employed by Zyphlin as an Inquisitor._**

  • Lydda Blackhand

_Arrived in Peltarch almost ten years ago, Lydda is a bad-tempered hin who is often seen around the Commons and the Boarshead, where she lives. She is a well known locksmith and trap-springer, and has good relations with officers of the watch and the shadier elements of the city alike.

She has been known to adventure with many of the most notable folk of Narfell, but she is not particularly famous for any heroics. Her reputation lies chiefly in her abilities, and her strict professionalism when it comes to mending, cracking or building traps and locks._

  • CRAY VINCINT

This man is well known, but at the same time. Most are not quite sure what he is known for.

You may have heard he is a buisness man, but you don't really know what buisness he is in.

A bit of a spook. His exploits are not ones which are flaunted. Therefore very little of his deeds is known.

    Clandestine yet flamboyant.

  • DM

Barrim Asbravn - Magistrate of Peltarch.

Known by many of the citizens and notables of the city, this ex-cavalryman arrived over 15 years ago in the city of Peltarch. Known for his long service to the city guard as well as his incorruptible manner. His impeccably groomed moustache is almost as well known as he, his charming and wise and well considered manner balanced by his almost unmatched skill with the blade.

Historically, he has been involved with fighting off Thayan incursions and being concerned with the rescue of known notables of the city from the same kidnappers.

Some years past considered by many for a position on the senate, he withdrew from the previous race openly concerned with the lies and powerbroking of the occassion. Nominated to serve beside the once Magistrate now Senator Evendur as co magistrate when both of the ex magistrates left the city within a short time of one another.

Working with the man whom Barrim has known the longest in the city as his co magistrate, Barrim has developed a reputation for strict and unflinching pursuit of criminals with judgements and an even handed approach adopeted despite politics and personal concerns. His workload and his dealings with the most difficult, politically important and capital crimes are well known.

He is known for his tolerance of faith, and has long term personal associations with those of Tempus and other faiths who favour the flash of the blade and the strength of a good cavalry charge. He has a well known tolerance for folk from varying backgrounds and races known for putting the strength and success of the city above other concerns.

Personally, he is known for his love of debate, learning and arcane and ancient history. He is also known thesedays for the finer things in life, a good wine and a cigar with officers, ladies and gentlemen of note. He posessess the down to earth and humourous nature to endear himself to mercenaries, farmers and noblemen alike.

Most commonly seen in the fine fullplate of the peltarch magistrate, the defenders green mixed with black shoulder flashes.

Recently known to be a staunch and unflinching figure of authority and coordination against the traitorous groups who took control of the city, he commands the respect and the good communication of the general, senior officers in the defenders of loyal regard as well as the captain of the guard. In recent years he has become a lover of the arts, and considers himself a firm supporter of the bardic institutions, and a supporter of the master actors Meril, Eowiel and the unmatched grace of Clandra.

  • Syne

_The elusive pale elf has been in Peltarch longer than any human who now dwells there. Although he has rarely ever spoken of his past in the city, he remembers well what it looked like when it was a simple fishing community. Syne came to the forefront when he took the position of Inquisitor under the Magistrate Lady Aspera Chillwind.

His actions have always been shrouded in dark rumors. Some say he is responsible for the dark minion that nearly wiped out everyone at the south gate of Norwick when he brought in the barbarian Torch Khan to be questioned by Captain Koreth.

There are rumors that he is a minion of some ancient and infernal force. Some even go as far to say the he's not even an elf at all, but a shapeshifter, a "were-thing" to be more presice.

Syne's name has been connected to the war that nearly occured between Peltarch and Norwick some years back, the assasination of two of the city's most beloved senators (strengthened by his aquisition of one of their seats), and even the recent civil war.

None of these rumors however have ever been proven.

After the civil war the senator disappeared into obscurity. He has not been seen in his office at City Hall and his apartments are vacant. Only the very brief sightings of him on the streets of Peltarch have kept him from being pronounced dead.

What the enigmatic senator is up to now is equally cloaked in dark whispers and troubling rumors._

  • Skyla Vea’Draeven.

_Renowned for her vibrant red hair, amber eyes, and her impeccable style, she is certainly a lady of manners, refinement and class.

When she’s not threatening those who upset her with a fireball.

There is some talk that she has a –slight- temper problem, earning her the nick name “Firebrand”.

The only thing to outshine the talk of her temper would be the talk of her lack of attention span with lovers, of which she’s had …. A few.

Engaged to Bardic College Headmaster, Zyphlin Re’Caul, few regard her as little more than a pretty face._

  • Ocean Fyne

_The young lass with the incomprehensible accent arrived in Peltarch a couple of years back and made almost no impact whatsoever. A spoilt brat with a series of unfortunate body-guards each set to watch her and keep roaming hands and eyes away by her father Deacon Sterr.
Then she vanished, some say that she was captured by pirates, others that she was captured, and then freed and left the city of her own voliton.

Whatever the truth upon her return civil war thrust the now almost full grown young woman into the more public eye with her good works for the children of the city. Working tirelessly even now to start an orphanage for the unfortunate orphans left by the war and the frequent attacks on the city by natural and unnatural forces, the most notable change of recent times is her fading shyness when it comes to her musical talent.

Dark of hair, with a figure that causes many men to stop and stare her most striking feature however is her eyes, a deep and varied blue that seem to shift with her mood, sometimes even shining so brightly as to colour the very marble around her harp. Of course the more avaricious visitors to Peltarch tend to notice her eyes second, after the many many gold rings she wears on her hands._

  • Zanetar Den 'Kath

For more than a decade, now, the (self proclaimed?) Imperceptor Den 'Kath has been living in and roaming about the land of Narfell.

The first city of residence he held here was Peltarch, and he dwelled there for several years before disappearing from it. He would later be found frequently about Norwick, though, after being banned from the barbarian town on no charge but his controversial faith, it was only half-chance that he might be found sitting outside the southern gate of the village. His true place of residence during this time remains largely unknown.

Several years ago, though, Zanetar returned to Peltarch with a trophy half-elven woman after undergoing a fantastic (if rarely spoken of) transformation that brought him back to Toril from death, but as a priest rather than the impressive warrior he had been. Some speculate his sudden connection to the divine is what prompted his return to the Jewel of the Icelace, where he can pursue the work of the Black Lord more fervently in the legal system with which it will be more apt to flourish.

Though holding no official rank in the city, he has his fingers in the business of many and is generally mistrusted and often avoided by those who he does not outright frighten.

While the nature and degree of his own power is unknown to most, it remains clear that his ability to inspire faith and loyalty is quite potent, as he is often seen followed by dour men and women in haunting ebony and emerald robes.

  • The Halfling Defence League

    Seaeak Vilehand

_A new figure, the hin like most other hins, is short; but has a reputation that precedes his stature by a wide margin, being accused for several serious crimes south and is being wanted by a few southern militia groups. In fact, his reputation had already gone ahead into the books of a few city officials before he actually stepped foot into the city. Not surprising, as some believe him to be the mastermind of a crime syndicate behind the series of robberies which occured some time ago.

Seaeak's past is shrouded in shadows, no one knows for sure his origins, but some claim he is associated to the shadow thieves of Amn further north.

Though the hin is rumoured to have committed a series of serious crimes down south, he has not yet shown any in the city. But no one could tell for sure what his motive is in coming to the city, much less when he would strike or whether he would, for he seems to have become quiet for some time since his stay in the city._

  • _Nicahh

The perky Banite. Often seen in the commons, Nicahh moved to Peltarch about three years ago with her fiance Zanetar Den'Kath, Inperceptor of Bane. Relocating to the city from Norwick, Nicahh has undergone a dramatic change since her arrival. She is currently by far the most popular openly Banite lady in the region, impressing many with an approachable personality, despite her beliefs.

Not much is know of Nicahh's past except that for several years she was a slave to the ruthless Ironaxe family. Her back is covered in an artistic scar pattern resembling angelic wings as a gift from her former master and can be seen clearly when she wears outfits that expose her back. When first arriving in Peltarch she often sat alone, silent, dressed in black leather armor shying away from attention. Over the past couple years Nicahh has been seen chipping away her shell revealing a joyful woman with a seductive nature to her. Although she has no offical job, she is seen associating with a variety of groups, but mainly greeting new comers (men) to Peltarch with a charming smile._

  • Evendur Mildsilver

_Recognized largely by his flowing grey robes, gem-topped stave, and statuesque posture, Evendur Mildsilver is frequently found looming over the Peltarch commons, his icy blue eyes constantly scanning the area for some unidentifiable object of his attention.

Evendur arrived without fanfare in Peltarch years ago from a city in western Sembia, or so he claims, and he rose reasonably quickly through the ranks of the Peltarch government, serving as City Clerk and Magistrate. He currently holds a seat on the Peltarch Senate and commonly champions adherence to city legal statutes and the integration of magic into everyday life. He is also well-known to be the Keeper of Spellweaver in Norwick, although he has obviously taken great pains to separate his two leadership roles as much as possible.

Evendur is an accomplished, studious wizard and a devout priest of Azuth, Lord of Spells, although he very much prefers a sedentary life to one of adventure. His calm, almost emotionless demeanor is exceeded only by his relentless devotion to law and order. He is even-handed and personable more often than not, but he can prove brutally calculating, spiteful, and unforgiving if he believes the situation warrants such behavior.

Although he prefers not to flaunt his influence, Evendur will without hesitation use it to his advantage if opposed. Thankfully, he suffers little opposition… for now._

  • Anna Sigerlson

Anna came to Peltarch upon the invitation of Evendur Mildsilver to be his Inquisitor during his time as the Magistrate. So, Anna packed up her belongings and resigned her post at Minister of Defense of the town of Norwick and headed north.

She distinguished herself as the inquisitor who handled the Ikurus Darkrune investigation. She now serves as Advisor to Senator Mildsilver.

She is a member of the Order of the Shining Pheonix and The Order of the Divine Sheild. She is often seen ministering to Defenders who converted or begun honoring the Red Knight.

She lives with Mariston Thel, Matee, and Alice Marrian across from the Mermaid. The burgeoning little family spends days picnicing for fun.
Anna is more happy than she has been in a very long time.

  • Corana Lyonsen

Self proclaimed high priestess of the church of Umberlee in Peltarch, she was brought to Narfell by Deacon Sterr to organize the followers of the Sea Queen in the city and to begin a church for the faithful.

Of her past, little is known except that she spent the majority of her life prior to her religious conversion as a sailor on a merchant ship. She has recently taken interest in the upcoming Peltarch Senate race, and has given several controversial speeches in the Docks District on the topics of security and commerce.

She is often seen in the same black and gold colors as members of Deacon Sterr's Black Sails, but is also seen praying twice daily on the pier in the docks while wearing the flowing, ornamental ceremonial robes of the Church of Umberlee. She can most frequently be seen in the city commons sharpening her greataxe and talking with the populace about the Sea Queen.

  • Roubanes Ejadis Heartwell

An erratic, self-proclaimed Jack of All Trades (and King of A Few), Roubanes is rumored to be the first noteworthy hero in the region to combine both magic and steel, and to no small surprise became the co-founder of the Knights of the Cerulean Stars along with Skyla Vea'Draeven. A known wanderer, he comes and goes seemingly on a whim.

He is famous for walking among the likes of Braeth Ma'Fein, Kanen Hightower, Samson Swarthout, and Call Sanner, and for his many spectacular adventures (both in defense of the city and for his own glory) that are rumored to range from the defeat of the lich beneath the magic well of Norwick, to chasing a possessed wizard and a powerful Devil through the Nars, to the dissolution of several criminals and evil organizations within the city of Peltarch and the single-handed infiltration of a Thayan cult of Cyric years ago; any of which he will not shy from expounding upon when asked.

Despite all the good he's done, he is equally infamous for the mischief he's rendered upon unwitting victims, many of whom are citizens of this very city; rumors of his sneaking into restricted areas, irresponsible use of magic, pranks both harmless and terrifying, horrible jokes, and womanizing as of yet unrivalled by his peers. Many people simply do not know what to make of this roguish young half-elf–some say he's a true-blue hero, others claim that he's just plain insane. Perhaps he is a bit of both; perhaps he is neither. But whatever the truth of the matter may be, there is no doubt that wherever he goes, trouble is bound to follow. And he's bound to enjoy it.

  • Sir Mariston Thel

Mariston is a stoic and reserved Sword of Torm, he holds no official rank with the city but is on the council of The Order of the Divine Shield. The young knight is most always seen in the armour of the Order sitting reading the canon of Torm. Dedicated to the Penance of Duty and furthering Torms goals he tempers this with his wish to aid the land and its people. He looks favourably to all goodly religions, but has little truck with those considered evil. He speaks with a clear and calm voice, his speech is a tad antiquated showing his temple roots. Though often reserved this is changed when his betrothed, the Lady Anna is with him and the young knight can be seen to laugh and joke.

  • Talgrath

This massive warrior entered Peltarch almost two decades ago. Since then he has joined the Defenders and risen to the rank of captain. Though some people affectionately (or tauntingly) call him "grumpy" others simply call him stoic or a jackass. Talgrath is respected, if not without reservations, by his fellow Defenders and is a known veteran of many battles; including the recent Peltarch Civil War. Talgrath is beginning to get on in age, he is in his thirties and his face is beginning to show it, his hair is now peppered with gray hairs and his muscles, according to some, are beginning to atrophy. He has gained in wisdom and social skills however, and that is probably part of why he was given the position of captain; aside from his demonstrations of physical (and occasional mental) prowess.

Talgrath is an almost fanatical follower of Tyr, though he has no official rank within the church nor is he granted (as far as people know) any powers by Tyr.

Talgrath likes to keep his family life out of the spotlight. He has two children, a daughter named Abiie (though rumours speak of her being his stepdaughter) who has been absent from Peltarch for some time, a son named Lucian who is a priest of Tyr and a wife named Merydian. During the wedding ceremony, supposedly many infamouse notables showed up, including Atol, the Dark Enchantress, and a lich as well; though this might be because other notable heroes showed up, such as Kanen Hightower and Mariston Thel. Talgrath's ex-wife, Doran, was rumoured to be an Eastlander; and according to some they parted on bad terms.

  • The Fool

Crazy little gnome. Everyone knows his face, and no one knows his name. Children try to get closer to see what he will do next, and parents try to pull them away, afraid of what he will do next. Even more afraid that their children will start singing the badger song, and they will never get it out of their heads. 😄

  • Gildor

_A simple bar wench and manager of the Lucky Ferret, she has a half-elf son and lives in a two floor house close to the jail house

There isn't much to say about her, she has been around Peltarch for years, but has never really been known for anything exceptional or spectacular.

Some says she is a bit insane, that once she was to be married to some lord, that she messed around with some forces a bit too great for herself, but if there is truth to these stories or they are just drunken tales is irrelevant, she is mostly retired now.

Gildor is friendly to those she meet and is only really seen cleaning the tables at the tavern, or buying the shopping down in the market, else then that, she keeps herself away._
