Marty from Peltarch is a common face about town, but recently she has been spending more time in town asking around about the recent wind events. She takes notes about the time the high winds started, the direction the winds mainly come from, whether Hinhold's walls provide any cover from the winds or if it's more of a tempest within the walls and so on.

After consulting with the Hinhold defenders, she summons a small air elemental. Her last attempt to get help from an elemental down in Norwick was unsuccessful, but this time, instead of attempting to ask it questions, she'd let it wander and see if there was a point in town it was instinctively drawn to.

... but intrinsic to the summoning ritual is an interplanar contract for the summoned to follow the summoner and protect them from their enemies.

MARTY: ... Seriously ... just ... wander! Be free!

    AIR ELEMENTAL: (windy sigh) -unsummons-

    MARTY: -grumbles- ... for shite's sake ...

  • Chillingly, a large hive of abyssal flying creatures known as Chasmes was found hidden in a mine but a stone's throw from the outer walls of Hinhold. It seems that despite their numbers, they were stealthy and clever enough to keep from detection. From all but Hinhold's chief protector, that is! Roslyn Underhill and her companions are said to have rooted the hive out completely, though not without considerable effort.

  • The Halfling Defence League

The recent military action in the pass has seemingly spurred the Halfling Defense League to action. While Hinhold itself escaped attack during the bandit campaign through the Nars Pass, the provisional military government has begun making moves to oversee the first elections of Hinhold's new town council, as well as its Castellan. Apparently, several tendays' worth of negotiations have brought about a comprimise that the various groups in Hinhold territory are largely willing to accept, though many are said to have felt pressured into making an agreement quickly due to the instability elsewhere in the region.

  • The Halfling Defence League

A group of discontented merchants and workers from Hinhold's various trading costers and its labor union gathered outside of town hall, demanding answers from the militia general Theobald Goodbrother about missing shipments. Pirates, it seems, had been hitting the ships transporting needed materials into the town from other trading ports along the shore of the Icelace.

In the end, it seems that the HDL worked in tandem with a small group of skilled and concerned citizens to try and stop the piracy. It's said that the group tracked the pirates to their home on the small island of Rocky Refuge, and killed the leader of the pirates inside!

Soon after, the HDLS Arvoreen put into dock at the town's harbor, and crates of construction materials began being offloaded, with work resuming shortly thereafter.

  • A middle-aged, more old than young, halfling is seen walking about smiling, taking a look at everything around, doing approving nods now and then. If you blink for too long, he's not there anymore, or he is, but you don't see him. Rumours have it is the old Lt. of the Far Scouts of Peltarch, looking for a quiet and nice place to retire to
