Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • Red eyes lit up the night past the city's sturdy walls and in waves, frost-bitten undead assailed the city's gates to the west. City employees sprang into swift action, aided by a fair number of volunteer adventurers and while the gates bear a sooty layer from the repelling fires, the cold claws of undeath never made it past the defenders.

In other, brighter news, the buzz goes around of the fabled spelljammer the Star Harpy having once more graced the city with an appearance - landing past the farmsteads and then dropping off a fair number of noted Narfellian adventurers mid-city upon departure. Will Captain Beeter and his intrepid crew visit again? Only time will tell!

  • Redheads and pancakes. On an otherwise uneventful night, the Mermaid had a run on several stacks of pancakes, upon the return of not one, but TWO familiar faces. A couple in fact! An elf with a bear mask joined them, and for a few hours, the inn seemed lively again, before they departed after enjoying some bardic entertainment.

  • The Halfling Defence League

A squad of guards, led by Peltarch's Spymaster, Reyhenna Jorino, Jasmine, and Roslyn Underhill, were seen entering City Hall a few days previously. While details of their activities there are not known, what is known is that they were seen entering the Royal Apartments, but not seen leaving.

Less than an hour later, they were seen outside of the Gaol, though nobody seemed to recall seeing them move from point A to point B.

Perhaps in related news, it's said that the gaol has acquired a mysterious new resident, whose identity is hidden behind an iron mask.

  • The talk of the town, royalty aside, most certainly include the unexpected exodus from Peltarch by the controversial businessman Oliver Holloway. Farmers may also have noted that the eccentric pig farmer Darla of the Haunted Ham has likewise left the city.

Speculations of business fall short of the big talking point, however, as gossip and the papers focus mainly on the so called "Night Cat" - Peltarch's newest and most outrageous jewel thief. Certain rumours even claim that the theatrical masked cat burglar is none other than local novelist, Isolde Garibaldi.

  • Maurina, one of the noblewomen courting King George, has lately been seen with a new extremely expensive looking ring in her left ring finger. Has the King finally chosen a new wife?

  • Rumours around the docks district include the demise of an old man, beaten to death in the back alley near the Pissing Goat Inn. The man, known to be a storyteller and an avid groper of ladies, might have annoyed the wrong people this time.

  • Apparently word spreads from the Lucky Ferret that Oscar Holbrook was seen touching a child innapropriately. But surely it is just a rumor.

  • There was a small commotion in the Mermaid after Cerulean Shesarai, normally the most mild-mannered of patrons, was observed storming in from the direction of the Docks District, stomping up the stairs, and throwing things at the wall. A chamber maid looked in after the sound died down and saw her praying quietly in a corner. Soon after she went to sleep.

  • Word spreads fast: Oscar Halbrook, accused of treason and imprisoned ever since the anti-royalist uprising, is now a free man. Not only that, but he's been reinstated to his former post as captain of the Commerce district, apparantly with guard general Velhar's blessing.

  • A fresh and pristine sundial was being carried towards the commons to replace the one so carelessly smashed by teleporting adventurers when.... a group teleported to that exact spot, shattering the dial before it even had the chance to touch the ground unbroken. The two workmen were flung aside by the blast, and a contingent of Ceruleans came scurrying out of City Hall not a moment later, at high alert, wide-eyed at the monsterous construct in the party's midst.

  • Rumours spread of a ragged, bloodied group of adventurers and city employees appearing with a flash right in the throne room, to a choir of shocked gasps from the long line of petitioners. Held in Bess Fisher's strong arms was none other than Gorien Harbottle, second in command in the Knights of the Cerulean Stars, and though a cloak was hastily thrown over his unconscious form, none could fail to see that both his legs were missing.

  • Rumours from the Docks speak of a ruckus in and outside the Lucky Ferret Inn, between a sizable group of city employees and adventurers on the one hand, and the Black Sails on the other. Word has it none other than Bess Fisher (aka Reyhenna Jorino) declared a 'raid' upon the premises, with uncertain results. Harsh words were apparantly exchanged, as well as a few resolute blunderbuss bursts.

  • A caravan of refugees pulled into Peltarch recently, guarded by Reyhenna Jorino and several well-known adventurers and city officials. They came from the village of Pinehove which had been set on fire by dozens and dozens of fire elementals. Cerulean Shesarai identified the culprit as Latch, a former senior officer in the Cerulean Knights who has turned to dastardly evil after defecting to Smoke. Famed mage Salin Ashald was said to have successfully closed the portal to the Plane of Fire that was opened by Latch. Latch disappeared shortly after the adventurers from Peltarch arrived.

The refugees were effusive in their praise for the Peltarch company, and especially praised the half orc Grunk for entering a burning building to rescue a family, and to Far Scout Vick for climbing into a second floor window to save two children. Some Peltarchians asked if they were sure this was actually Vick, the Far Scout.

  • Onlookers were rocked (literally) yesterday when a group of seven bloodied and bruised adventurers suddenly teleported into the center of the Commons. Many of them held shields over their heads and one even had a blunderbuss out. Sharp rocks and boulders falling from the sky bounced off of them and shattered the newly rebuilt sundial. The group included several prominent city officials including Peltarch Defender Lt. Reyhenna Jorina, Inquisitor Morgan Azzen, and Cerulean Shesarai Foutopolis. Noted novelist Isolde, sturdy dwarf Gnarl, and Tyrus Tennesar were with them, along with an unknown woman who clung tightly to Morgan. They claimed they had been fighting a vampire and teleported out of mine cave in. Some of them addressed comments, a few of them snide, to Garen, although he was not seen among them.

  • Rumour has it, a boisterous knight formerly of the Divine Shield sought out great evil past the foothills and there, defeated it! Further details suggest the foe defeated was none other than the so called "Adventurer Killer", and that the knight's entourage - including Reyhenna Jorino, Garen and Erurk - played a key role in events. Certainly those three looked particularily battered and bloodied upon returning to the city with the knight and the rest of their party.

  • Rumors swirl around the Docks District indicating a group of Peltarch officials led by Reyhenna Jorino raided the Pissing Goat Tavern following reports of an altercation there. Three youths, one not even a teenager yet, were passing out fliers supporting disgraced Cerulean Arch Weyland and calling for an elected Senate to replace the monarchy. When some patrons at the bar threatened to report the teens to the Guard, the teens subdued them with a spell and tied them. When Reyhenna;s group showed up, heavily armored but not displaying weapons, they demanded the teens release the captives and put down their weapons. Surprisingly, they eventually did so without a fight, much to the displeasure of those who had been held captive.

Somewhat later, the five members of Reyhenna's group, now heavily armed, we seen entering the Peltarch Sewers, whose entrance at first seemed to be blocked by a large amount of stinking refuse and garbage.

  • Rumours stir around the city about the return of Rhyla Featherdown, once upon a time the glamorous and bold leader of the city's Courtisan's Guild, as well as self-proclaimed vampire hunter. For all her own illustrious, somewhat scandalous reputation, a fair few tongues also wag about someone else - the King's newly appointed arcane advisor, Shona Astrid Raxos, for the two ladies bear more than a passing resemblance for no well known reason.

  • A group of 7 people slumped in from the south gates and filtered to the temple in the dock district, 8 if you counted the body one carried. Blood covered most of them and most looked weary to the bone. Half the party was made up of Defenders and the notable Lieutenant Grimm looked like he had bathed in blood ans viscera. The Large Lizard like creature carrying the body looked to have taken a dip in the same pool as the Lieutenant.
The words Maze Runners was whispered in awe as the group collected themselves. But for a few adventurers none approached the commons and the grim bloody group there.

  • There was a commotion in the commons, as a strange spell was enacted by an unseen party which caused a skeletal flame dragon to dive upon the sundial and destroy it before vanishing.

Two guards who happened to be present ran off in an attempt to bring the unseen party to justice, followed by a woman in red.

Rumour has it that the sundial destroyer fought to the death rather than pay his debt to society, but our plucky heroes were triumphant.
