Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • Lately, there has been increasing rumors about a Half-orc coming and going religiously to the Hill Giant's region always carrying back a bunch of gigantic heads that'd he dump in a crate close to one of the houses located on top a hill in the Peltarch Farm lands. Some say he's a Far Scout that loathes hill giants, others speak about the half-orc being only on duty, while the few tell stories about how the farmlands are getting very well fertilized with the remnants of the enemies of Peltarch.

  • Rumor has it the Peltarch Guards finest detectives have let slip that Andy Talbot, Norwick Guard, is the Adventurer Killer.

  • Apparently there have been a number of cats and dogs choke to death from the chicken bones left scattered in the common's.

  • First Knight of the Divine Shield Linus Loreweaver walks into the commons to find a pile of blood and bones littering the commons

    . . . . . . . . .?

((DM's please remember if you do events, please either clean it up after or Post about it in the forums so that we arent wondering wtf is going on))

  • Apparently Ava Salesh has been seen at the various bars around Peltarch asking about purchasing large quantities of food. She has also been seen at the brewery asking to order in bulk some fine alcohol. When asked why she replies "For a festival of course~"

  • The Peltarch Tourney proceeded in the aftermath of the chaos in the city, with Sir William Kyrie officiating. A grand time was had by all, with Autumn the Archer winning the archery, Scott Grimm winning the duelling, and Lady Sukarsik winning the Jousting

When later asked about holding a tourney so soon after the events at town hall, William replies:

“Peltarch does not bend the knee to those who would seek to bring terror to us, and we do not fear the darkness. I am deeply concerned for those who’ve lost their lives, or their loved ones, even if they were able to be restored, and rest assured that we are rebuilding the Order of the Divine Shield to do our part in protecting the populace against such evil.”

  • Warning bells ring out loudly across the city, and guards and defenders hustle with weapons drawn towards City Hall, where it seems all hells have broken loose. A trail of blood, of broken, lifeless bodies paints an omnious pathway up towards the King's council chambers, where sounds of battle can be heard. Scattered eye witness accounts from upstairs speak of magical darkness, a flurry of shadows and a single black-robed assailant, squaring off against a group of assorted city employees and adventurers, spearheaded by Reyhenna Jorino. The target of the attack, according to initiated sources, was none other than Herald Damien Fisher, whose life was very nearly ended by the mystery assailant going by the name of the "Adventurer-Killer".

As the dust settles, the bardess Isolde Garibaldi, alongside Reyhenna Jorino, take to the rant stand. The two are not alone, however - all around them are the victims of the Adventurer-Killer, 31 dead in all - guardsmen and women mainly, but also defenceless administrators such as Langely, the elderly scholar who teaches language and grammar. While some goodly priests protest the gruesome display, a grimly passionate Isolde, face streaked with tears, insists with vehemence for the truth to be seen in all its cruel clarity - for rumour has been going around that the killer strikes in vengeance of the Silver Host's downfall, rooting out corruption and evil. "Know evil when you see it!", cries a distraught Isolde, while Reyhenna Jorino - or Bess Fisher as she is also known - publically swears to get to the bottom of things. The killer, it seems, is still at large. But whether he garners any public sympathy after this day remains to be seen.

  • @preacher Fabian is told to seek out the Elven Wizard Simial if he would like to talk about Enchantments!

  • Fabian Reinhard spreads word around that he seeks currently active enchanters for certain items he has gathered.

  • Overheard at the marketplace near the stall with the elven trader: seems Hemrod recommended a couple of adventurers to talk to this merchant. She talked about needing a map of old elven ruins... an old encampment. She was talking with a monk in yellow robes and a sergeant of the Defenders.

  • Word goes around that a set of MW Red Dragon Studded Leather Armor is up for sale, and those interested should leave word at the Peltarch Mortuary. The asking price is high, and if there is enough interest, they will be auctioned off.

  • Disease has appeared in Peltarch. Apparently patrons of the Dancing Mermaid have fallen ill after staying the night. The cause of this is thus far unknown. In other news a horrifying hag has been seen in the commons idlely chatting with people.

  • @preacher said in Tavern Rumors of Peltarch:

Tales speak of a shiny Knight who helps the commoners and the orphanage financially and performs deeds that make their days better. Word has it that he prefers to stay anonymous but people say that they would recognize this armor everywhere.

The mere mention of the rumor causes a few maidens' knees to weaken. Some of them faint mid-sentence describing how generous and handsome he is.

  • There's a rumor spread among those who frequent the mermaid in the shape of farcical songs. Bards who pick the inn as their main income in the city, are backed up by a chorus of drunkards (mainly) who may or may not pay much attention to the intention of the verses:

And the voice of the voices has voiced an opinion:
    "Like the people, like civilians,
    I shall voice my displease:
    Not civilians, but adventures
only strive to refill their beliefs
with the coins, and the spoils
that the crown should convoke with taxations.
Make them pay, for the crown,
make them pay with a part of their spoils!"

Doesn't matter, if Far Scouts, or Ceruleans,
or Defenders that they only go out for rejoice.
They're on duty, they should serve to protect
all the people that defenseless are left
    when they venture.
    Make them pay, with taxation,
and especially those who have nothing to do with the crown!

After laughs and toasts, some adventurers that frequent the mermaid to recover from the exhaustion of their treks are left with a concerned countenance, while commoners only toast with a grin in the name of more income for the crown.

Is it true that a tax for adventures is coming for those who gamble their lives in this tough and often unrewarding life of the adventurer? When was this idea left on the loose, and why are the bards singing such songs when nothing has been made official yet?

It's very notorious the support of the common people, while adventurers only seem to be concerned and speak about moving to one of the other two towns of the realm.

  • Scott Grimm let's it known through rumors and the craft hall that he is looking to buy a master crafted mithril or adamantine bastard sword.

  • A hin leaves town hall, looking furious, and goes to Vanity Plates, coming out looking rather different.

Later she is seen entering the town by stepping over the walls, causing panic amongst the livestock and citizenry, before heading off down the pass. Estimates say that she was 1000% larger than normal.

Later still she enters on a horse riding at ridiculous speeds that seem impossible, then shrinks down to the size of a pixie, then back to normal. Seems magical shenanigans are rife tonight!

  • The Halfling Defence League

For a few days following the break-in at the college, word travels around Peltarch of an incident in the crypts. Hushed whispers tell of a pool of blood that ate magic and, perhaps, people too. Or of an encounter with a terrifying child with dead, black eyes. Some whisper of a tall, gaunt smiling man, who's rumored to stalk Peltarch's slums and alleyways even now.

It's not exactly clear whether this happened before or after the break-in, but some locals are claiming that the two are somehow connected.

  • The Halfling Defence League

    Bardic College Break-In!

It happened late one night - the door to the Masters' Quarters was broken down! The loud crash attracted a curious crowd of students and instructors alike. It appears several attempts were made to weaken the door with acid, before it was simply kicked down with brute force.

No word yet on if anything was stolen, but it seems that the college is taking the matter seriously.

  • Rumour has it that a certain Hinnish Farscout is looking to sell some very powerful magical items that would suit the dexterous and stealthy
