Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • Off duty guardsmen whisper of the prisoner who murdered his family talking to himself as though there were someone in the cell with him.

"He hasn't had any visitors and we haven't told him that the evidence suggested he killed his own family. . . yet he was shouting like as if someone had told him and he was in disbelief. . .we searched the cell but there was nothing there. I think we're going to post a Cerulean at his cell just in case..."

Of course as other patrons overhear this through the next few days people gather outside the gaol calling for the murderer to face justice, while others call for his innocence as he was under a spell.

In either case the prisoner is under close observation for the time being.

  • Rumors surface that a farmer murdered his whole family and is pretending to not remember doing it.

  • The for Sale sign in the Brewery comes down and word spreads that there is a new owner.

  • A chubby wizard is looking for customers. He claims to be able to create whatever wonderful item. Nobody cares about him.

  • Druids and portals and bears, oh my!

Rumor has it that a familiar Druid has once more donned the strange wooden armor she occasionally uses, and a strange portal appeared out west where here and some others were, while some guards might speak of a big glowy bear, just casually hanging out with some. Or was it haunting them? Hard to tell what the exact rumor is, but there is talk, as usual.

  • The shiny Knight Fabian strikes again! He was witnessed walking around Peltarch's streets in a brand new even shinier than his previous armor. Some even say that the shininess is that much that the moon is a crystal clear reflection when one faces him directly.

  • Not long after the announcement was made a pack of large cats lead by a malarite woman was seen south of the city. Apparently she wanted to fight Rasuil to the death.
Captain Gom ordered private Scott Grimm of the defenders to deal with the situation.
After many hours of talking the malarite left without fighting.
Captain Gom was pleased with Scotts quick response in dealing with the matter and offered him a positioniin his unit and a promotion to Lieutenant which Scott accepted.

  • A public announcement was made recently, declaring Holloway Security the official suppliers of the Peltarch Defenders. Oliver Holloway, around whom many rumours might still circulate in the wake of a certain well attended trial, promised cheap and reliable weaponry and armour to all military personel. He was met with cheer and applause, though a select portion of the crowd appeared to whisper and take careful note of it all.

  • *Walking through the dark alleys slowly looking down at the ground with the occasional glances up. I see a beggar on the corner. I can tell he is sick, suffering an unknown disease perhaps and by the looks of it for a long time.

I approach him slowly and quietly.

"Sir, this day is blessed for Ilmater has seen you suffer. You have been ill for long and endured the pain and for this you are blessed. Ilmater has brought me to you by his divine will to bear witness to your pain and by his grace, should you wish it, to bring and end to it. Look up with what strength you can muster and speak his name and you shall be rewarded. With his divine will i shall take away your pain and remove the affliction that ails you. "

The beggar gave me an odd look and stared for a moment. I couldn't look much more than a beggar myself so why should he put his faith in me. To my surprise he spoke "Ilmater be praised!"
At those words i spoke a blessing and layed my hands upon him. Color returned to his face, his wounds healed and his illness was cleansed.
I had already retreated to the shadows before he was able to show his gratitude. A blessed day indeed. *

  • Scott's with that crazy airhead fireball mage. NO he's dating that rather plain cleric girl. No no, he's going after that scar faced cougar lady. Rumors rage as Scott is seen supposedly flirting with a group of women. Select sources say that he seemed particularly interested in the crazy fireball sorceress, not that anyone could blame him.

  • A Defender drinking at the Mermaid can be overheard telling a tale about pixies and fairies - surprisingly lacking in sugar, rainbow and sparkle details. Instead, there's confusion, twisting vines snaring around ones feet and a not unsubstantial amount of blood and gore to the story. Drink emptied, the Defender stands, belches and adds, almost as an afterthought: "An' get this: after th'dust settles, this single fairy fella appears, cool as rain an' snarkier 'n a high lords butler. 'e claims t'be on th' side o' 'light', as opposed ta those we just beat bloodied, yet wasn' much interested in anythin' but omnious threats ta some 'mortal thieves' that 'e was back an' still 'lookin'. Called 'imself Paradox. As big a prick as th'rest if y'ask me, but eh. 'least I didn' swipe his swag."

  • *Rumors spread that orcs have posted a sign near the south entrance to the Giantspire Pass, warning adventurers that they have been forced to withdraw deeper into the woods, but will be prepared to strongly resist any attempts to trespass there. Other rumors indicate Cerulean Shesarai was chased by a powerful orc caster hidden just west of the creek, and she had to be rescued by General Theaon and Abby. *

  • rumors spread that the two magistrates may have to fight for their respective inquisitor's affections as the two inquisitors seem to be having a secret affair. Proof of this was seen first hand by those who passed by the commons. One even said Cecil was proposing to Syltria, rings and all!

  • With 5 days remaining for the Inquisitor to make the tribute (1 RL day), the mood of the city is a restless one.

There are three factions now... one which is angry and calling for orc blood, agitating for a “final solution to the orc problem”. One which is hopeful that Cecil will sort things out and are calling for peace. And the third, the largest by far, is fearful and anxious, waiting to see which way the hammer will fall.

Reports of public drunkenness, of weapons wielded in public, of domestic abuse and brawls in the street are high, the guards are stressed and stretched and tired, and all in all, the city is a powder keg waiting to explode.

  • Rumours spread quickly through town about the parlay that occurred to the west of town, and the threat posed by the orcs. Words like “war”, “attacks against the city”, and “weak-kneed leadership” are thrown about.

The elf known as Tel’quessir seems to have stirred up the populace, with many calling for orc blood. Cecil’s speech has done little to quell this, and Scott’s speech has only enflamed the situation further.

On the morning of the third day after the ten day count began, a new rumour begins to circulate, that the orcs have uncovered a vein of gold within their lands and this is the reason for them attempting to keep the adventurers out.

Shops quickly sell out of mining gear, shovels, picks, and bags, and young adventurers find themselves being hassled to act as guards for those seeking their wealth.

Seems Peltarch has become a tinderbox, and all it will take is one spark...

  • Word quickly goes around town that the orcs west of the city had pulled back to their fortress of solitude, deep in the snow up the Giant Spires. But no sooner had they retreated, than adventurers went up the mountain, killed them all, looted their treasury, and returned. Probably laughing and kicking around dead orc heads as they did.

Reprisals are feared, with defender numbers increased on the gates, and the guards looking warily at any of orcish blood

  • After Cecil "the Silencer" quickly changes his tune in light of public outcry to his violent and heavy handed form of "correction", rumors stir once again. This time, townsfolk speak in the shadows and quietly confide in each other that such a barbaric man isn't fit for a political role in the Jewel and ought to return to Norwick where that kind of savagery was condoned under the Dolvaks.

  • Stating plainly to any who ask that some rumormonger is full of shite, Cecil shakes his head, disappointed.

I'm not sure who stands to profit from flinging suspicion at us, but you lot know me, and the lengths I'll go to help. Please continue to come to me if you hear something of substance, including the source of nasty rumors if at all possible. That helps noone, especially the victims and their families.

  • Rumors abound that a second child has been killed.
The cover up apparently is in full swing. The high and mighty magistrates and their inquisitors seem to be trying to cover their misdeeds.
Parents do you know where your child is?

  • Taking his morning constitutional, Dozer passes through the warehouse area of the Docks District, and notices a perimeter of Peltarch guards stationed at all the alleyways a city block each direction around one of the Wavebreaker's warehouses. He asks one of the guards about it, and he says he has no idea, that he was told to not let any pass.

Dozer mentions the same to his bartender Clair at the Ferret and she starts asking other customers about it. Word and curiosity has now spread to you.
