Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • _The kobold shenanigans appear to have escalated. Wild rumours speak of the scaly little monsters sneaking into the very heart of the city with nefarious intent, blowing up first the sundial, then setting off several fiery explosives within the Mermaid inn.

Ceruleans and Far Scouts were amongst the first on the smouldering scene, aided by adventurers, as panicked waitresses and patrons rushed out of the building. Though the miscreants were by all accounts slain and the fires put out, what drove them to these suicidal acts of terror is a matter of much speculation.

Meanwhile, on a brighter note, offical word spreads from city headquarters that the horrific tainted drinks - most recently responsible for transforming a partygoer at the Sharessan masquerade into a ghoul - have been dealt with. The brewery of the ghoulish beverages was hit and a powerful mage slain by a large party including city employees and many adventurers of note. A cure for those that may still be afflicted has been aquired, and spread to the city's two temples through the Cerulean Knights._

  • Alvi… noticed a cow carcass toward the kobold entrance... and was attacked by some kobold hooligan... was his mistake....

At Peltarch’s fair ground, an elven woman and a big strong man met to spend some quality time practicing with their swords. It appears that the owner of the prestigious shop, The Edge, was trying to teach the brute how to better behave in combat situation.

They talked a lot before any combat was done. She used a more didactic tone, while he was just making a fool of himself, trying unsuccessfully not to look and sound like one. When swords crossed, the outcome was no surprise. Alvaniel clearly demonstrated Leroy Jenkins that skill is mightier than brute force.
The practice finished quickly due to some pressing matters at The Edge that demanded her immediate attention. To anyone asking, Leroy simply says:

    - Well…. She never said she’d go easy on me.

  • _Rumors spread around about unusual sightings of kobolds stalking the west gates of Peltarch. They not only stalk, as one of the farmers of the zone said, they are stealing, or at least trying to steal his cows that a fellow adventurer helped to recover.

At this point some cows have gone missing, while some others were successfully recovered. But as the gate guards were informed by others troubled farmers and an adventurer responding by the name of Eric, they barely took it seriously as they quickly replied: "It's only kobolds, they are pestering again, as if they would do anything clever ever"._

  • It is the best day ever. Not just Caling, but 2 Calings have been sighted in the Commons.

Calings are as happy as ever about this and were last seen retreating to the Bardic College for some 'me' time, as a Caling put it.

    Truly, Peltarch is blessed.

  • _The Bardic College shook in its foundations, a few of its weathered gargoyles tumbling off the roof in what appears to have been an assault by hostile forces. Panicked bards and visitors rushing out of the building were met by an onslaught of masked and robed figures, the fight spilling out onto the streets. A massive surge of teleportations was noted by the Cerulean Knights, but by the time they reached the scene, the dust appeared to have settled.

Five dead students could be witnessed carried off to the Temple, casualties of a partial collapse of the roof. And while the Stonemasons are already hard at work with repairs, for now the Bardic College is a place of dust and mourning._

A group of five adventurers is seem entering the city’s sewers. A man, two dwarves, an elf and a half-orc made their way into that stinky place. A few hours later, they come back with some spoils to share. Almost all of them seem satisfied with the results of the expedition.

That wasn’t the case of the strong man named Leroy. Even after successfully going in and out of the sewers, he remains with a serious face and can be heard cursing in a low voice:

    - Not one piece of evidence about …. nothing. Farking cultists….

  • A great gust of icy wind blew through the city giving everyone a chill. Strange yet the swamps were reported completely frozen over. The cold eventually subsided and the swamps begin to thaw

_A face, no longer known, returns to Narfell. The chubby dwarf, Fafir Ganeer, can be seen again walking around and experiencing the long-forgotten flavors of his favorite beverage: ale.

At the table placed just outside the Mermaid Inn, between one gulp and another he does not spare those who are interested in his stories._

Yes, I've been out of this realm for a long time. I walked all over the continent and on lands not imagined, and many things I saw in my wanderings.
I saw a stone giant disguised as a mountain rise and walk a few miles, only to escape the sun that troubled him every morning for centuries.
I saw a tree so tall that the clouds needed to ask permission, so they could continue their journey through its higher branches.

He pauses a moment, takes another sip from his mug and continues, the words flying out of his mouth at an increasing speed:

I saw a whole castle made of ice erected in the middle of a scorching desert, and it did not melt.
I saw flying fishes, talking foxes and walking trees, in a forest that was purple and orange.
I saw conflict and terror, but I also saw victory over them.
I saw a tear rise, a sword heal, and the water burn.
I saw a rat playing flute for an audience of an entire town.
I walked in a place where the rain would come up from the earth, and because of that no woman could use a skirt.

A small pause, another sip of ale, and he continues in a graver tone:

I saw sadness and happiness fighting fiercely and the fight ended tied.
I saw a man raise an entire tower over his head, just to prove his love for a maiden. And yet, he was not reciprocated.
I saw a war that will never end because no one knows why it started.
I saw two elderly people rejuvenating just to spend another life together.
I saw history being made by simple men.
I saw magic beyond anyone’s imagination being used, in a place that no one ever heard of magic itself.
I witnessed the birth of a volcano and the death of a sea.
I saw a wolf breastfeeding a deer puppy.
I met a tribe of people cursed with never-ending invisibility. Unfortunately, I did not see them… he adds before a chuckle

I heard a man with no tongue or teeth speaking over twenty languages.
And I visited the biggest library ever built. It was filled with books that had no pages. And I read them all in less than a minute.

His mug is almost empty. As he looks at the bottom of it, a few more words are said, maybe the only story that is completely true… just maybe…

And, at the end of my walking, I saw the joy of a son finding his long-lost mother. It was then that I remembered that this land gave me birth and that it was time for me to return.

Motioning the waiter for another mug of ale, he adds in conclusion:

And I can just wonder what I will be seeing from now on.

    Huzzah!

  • _The taverns are filled with talk of a kobold attack on the farmlands that killed a few local farmers. Adventurers familiar and unfamiliar quickly banded together with the guards to defend the farmlands and protect the people. The adventurers pushed the scaled little devils into their warren where rumors abound of a great battle against some massive croaking creature.

By the time the adventurers emerged, any remaining kobolds had scampered off into the fog of the swamps. Praise be to Tyr! And a round for brave heroes both old and new!_

  • _Rumors spread about how the workers of the morgue heard, on what seemed like a peaceful day of work, strange noises, screams and even how the hinges of the door leading to the lower crypt opened and closed all of the sudden.

When questioned by the guards, the workers presume they heard a shout closely to "Brainzzz" or "Morrons". Evidently the later might be a more accurate description of the shout, but who could tell for certain?

After the startle, the guards went down to the crypt to make further investigations. They claim to have discovered that the locks of some of the senators' coffins were violated. A closer examination would reveal that between dust and cobwebs, the grave robbers stripped the clothes of the senators' remains only to escape through the sewer, leaving behind a poorly locked door.

Now the remnants of the senators lie on bare bones, and it is whispered that the cretinous tomb raiders may be walking freely in the city or dead below as apparently there were some cultists' corpses left near the door beside the general stir among the wicked survivors of the sewers._

  • Legion General Theaon Thorn a three other adventurers were seen heading towards the Docks after speaking of going to the Sewers. The 4 were gone for the better part of an entire day until they were seen coming back from the Residential District. Mutters could be heard about a very nasty trap near the exit from the Crypts.

  • Something deadly stalks the dock district. The night is not friendly to any who raise a hand in anger or hate. For three nights running anyone who has lashed out at another has found pain as their repayment. Arrows from dark alleys and rooftops, voices driving others into traps set in dark recesses, acid flask thrown with deadly accuracy. No deaths, but injuries minor and not and then nothing….

  • It was a typical day in the Peltarch commons. People made their way in and out, speaking casually to each other. All was rather quiet, until it wasn't.

With a loud and brilliant flash of green light, the large tree that offered shade for so many trembled with energy. For a brief moment onlookers watched with trepidation until a one armed elven woman stepped out from the trunk like it was the most usual thing. She made brief small talk with the few people nearby then walked away into the streets as quickly as she arrived.
    Most curious.

  • Rumor has it an incredibly bland, nondescript man informed a group of adventurers containing the fearless mage Aniril and renowned swordsman Ryker among a few other, lesser know folks of a demon threat. As the drunks would have it told, a dark cloud wafted over the city, spraying a fine mist of blood over the Commons, then the bland man appeared and said something along the lines of "the time to strike our enemy is now."

After following a blood trail, the brave adventurers fought through a series of demons and cultists all the way to the lava pits where they faced off against an immolith who was then extinguished like a cheap candle.

  • Seems to be someone arguing with the receptionist of the bardic college on a frequent basis. Riddles and questions to one's joys or annoyance to the constant drumming and strummings on a greeter's desk. " Just let me talk to them! " A shout heard more than once.

  • There is a big commotion in the commons as Hen and Ser Shannon discuss the recent attacks on elves. A third party cuts in and voices are raised, racial comments thrown about and eventually threats. A nondescript man, in Peltarch Farscout uniform, was in the middle of the exchange as Ser Shannon and most of the elves in the commons turned there ire on him. Not so veiled threats of firing, flogging and execution where issued.
At some point the lady Maria arrived and jumped into the fray, slapping the man and jabbing him repeatedly with her staff. Eventually voices where lowered and things calmed down a bit, though several of the elves peered suspiciously at the man. He eventually left, nodding slightly to Hen.

  • The Ranger Ting can be seen (or not seen ) making rounds in the Docks District in the lookout for those responsible for the beatings that have taken place.

  • Rumour has it Hen has been seen much more actively in Peltarch at this time after the two recent beatings when she is seen she is often in the commons. However when she is not seen it is difficult to know where the elf has gone.

  • Rumour is that the Elf in the blade and bow store has been found badly wounded. They didn't have time to finish the job, apparently, as the other vendor of the shop arrived in time to prevent further damage.
When found, the elf vendor was seen smiling and laughing, and was repeating to himself, "they took the coins, they fell for it"
