He loves his ale and his crafting as much as he loves laying his blade to Norwick's enemies. Beourn, son of Belthor, was born into Clan BattleMail, renowned in the north for the their skill in crafting heavy body armor. A hierarchy society north of Luskan, only the noble families mined the richest caverns, while lower families were appointed caverns deemed unworthy of mining by the nobles. The only way to become a noble family was to earn the right by offering Abbathor, God of Greed, a hoard of gold and sacrificing your first sons life. Beourn and his father, Belthor, were among the lowest families and rarely saw a reasonable mining profit. Belthor loved his son more than anything in his life, and would never come to those wicked terms. By the time Beourn had reached his seventy-fifth year of age, his unmatched strength had become renown in the clan. His father Belthor knew his son possessed too much potential to be kept trapped under their clan's suppressive society. Everyday Belthor watched his son tirelessly mine for bits of coal in their appointed cavern, and it pained him. Belthor would not let his son waste his life in these worthless mines as he had. He never imagined himself or his son to be surface dwarves, but he had little choice. They left Clan BattleMail's halls on their usual monthly route to trade their crafts, only this time they would never return. Belthor and Beourn made their way south to Luskan. Beourn was recruited as a swordsmen for Luskan's army and learned the arts of fighting, while his father worked in the mines, being treated as equal. Beourn's contract to Luskan ended after forty years of service. He had become a seasoned fighter and was excited to use his training for adventure, a concept that had grown in him for decades. With his father happily settled, Beourn left Luskan, and made his way east, to Narfell. Wanderlust and ready for battle, Beourn seeks adventure almost blindy, readily trusting anyone who offers it. When Beourn is not out defending Norwick's borders, he can surely be found at the South Gate, anxious to hear a tale of adventure.
