Speech at the Temple of Kelemvor!!

  • // Addressing this ICly

  • Z steps forward and addresses Eilonna

My only concern, right now, is for the people of Norwick - not politics. How do you plan to protect all these folks that you encouraged to come out here seeking refuge? Has this plan been thought through?

I’m not a military tactician or general, but whatever vermin attack our gates could easily come here, capture and/or kill everyone, and win the war - simple. If these people aren't going to be safe in a walled town, protected by friends and family (and whatever troops we can manage), they certainly aren't going to be safe in this open field, right?

I mean, look around. waves his hands vaguely in a circle around him Out there pointing NE ye got swamps full of hungry trolls. Yonder, just beyond the scar, motioning to the east you've got demons an devils just waitin’ for a failing barrier ta fail. To the north and northeast ya got gnolls ‘n’ more gnolls. To the south, apparently, our beloved town will soon be attacked. It’s just common sense - this ain’t a good spot ta be.

If I’m missin’ somethin’ please explain it to me because I, for the life of me, can’t see how this can be a safe, defendable place for these people.

///Approximately, how many NPC refugees from Norwick do we have here?

  • Shakes her head as he is clearly only catching one part of the conversation and turns her attention back to her people.

  • "Ah, now I understand. We're talking about a more or less meaningless title. Champion of Norwick. It's more of a mantle, isn't it? I could claim I was the Champion right now… Vale here could too. Are you really arguing about your superior giving somebody a nice, albeit meaningless title? You're going to start panicking the already troubled Norwickan's... Well I've said my piece. And I'll be off."

And sure enough, the purple figure leaves.

  • Government officials are elected, I was already long part of the guard, a simple promotion of rank isn't something you make a public problem, suddenly anointing someone as the "Champion of Norwick" is a big deal, the entire town is meant to look up to this hero, someone the children strive to be and want to have near them all the time. Am I opposed to having a champion? No. Yet there are many who deserve that rank and title of Norwick. Timmot, Davos, Rasuil, more then half of our own men, don't get me wrong, I don't hate Uljas, I just think it should have been made a public choice, not just Voss's because Voss feels like it.

  • A purple clad figure, having been observing for some time, states his piece.

"I have been curious since you spoke of it earlier, Co- hm… Ma'am. Voss chose to elect a Champion for the people without even speaking to the people.

... Was it not the same with you?"

  • Eilonna speaks up instantly

We have no proof that Voss and his men are Norwickian, many dont even know where they come from, but I have never heard of the term Raumviri in Norwick will after the incident with Ostromog. No they are not doing the "best they can to keep us safe" The Raumviri sure, Voss though sits on his arse in his office and generally does nothing, just like D'cameron. The only reason Voss is stepping up and putting himself out there now is because he risks losing his comfy spot now. The families you see here today, the men and women that remained behind to ensure their families had a home to come back to, THEY are Norwick!! Together, we all know a change must be made. Or the moment the Gnolls are gone, it will go back to being exactly as it was a tenday ago, all of nothing!!

  • Salin himself appears in the Temple of Kelemvor, speaking to all who would listen:

    "Ladies and gentlemen of Norwick.

I am -not- a politician, and I will -not- be running against D'Cameron, or Chief Voss.

What I -will- do, is see to it that the people are heard. If you wish for change, then be that change. I cannot force the current rulers of Norwick to leave just because I say they're not doing a good job. I will -not- start a campaign against our leaders. I wish for an united Norwick. And Chief Voss and the Raumviri are doing the best they can to keep us safe. "Is that enough?", you may ask me. The truth is that I don't know. But Uljas is right when he says that we need to stand for what's ours. He, with Chief Voss' blessing, will begin training all men and women who wish to pick a weapon and defend their homeland.

As for D'Cameron, I do not know him. Same as you may not know me. I will not judge what he has done, because I have seen nothing. I saw no growth in Norwick. I saw no effort to upgrade our defenses. I see nothing coming from the town hall. At all.
As for myself? I stood there, against wave after wave of undead, goblin, hobgoblin, bugbear and what else was thrown against our southern gate. I drove off the goblins that plagued our immediate vicinity back to the territory they now occupy. I fought alongside you, fellow Norwickians, and that is exactly what I intend to keep on doing.

I don't care for positions of power. I don't know if you points at a male commoner won't be a better leader than me. Or you points at a female commoner. If you believe you are, he motions next to him please come stand beside me and tell me what to do, but if you truly believe there is more to Norwick than what we have now, then by all means, make your voice be heard. If you feel all is well, I will repect your views, and I urge you all to do the same. As I said. Today, more than ever, we need to unite. Infighting will get us nowhere. Chief Voss is Norwickian. The Raumviri are Norwickian. He is Norwick. They are Norwick. WE ARE NORWICK! And -WE- toghether, will make our beloved town prosper.

((Appropriate Persuade rolls can be made IG at some time tomorrow. Zombie MCPlay needs sleepeh tiem))

  • Vale, understand this right now, we didn't rush the people out of town, I don't force them to be here either. I am here even now openly exposed to help protect these people as I have since I was old enough to hold a bow in my hands. I also only said it sounded like one of Voss's men, didn't say you were. Yes I am the one bringing up the past, but I am not the only one that wants these changes, before there is nothing left. You blame me for not recognizing you yet you hide among Norwicks people speaking to me while hiding under a hood? Step forward, come talk to me, I have never hidden from the public at any time. Understand Vale that I am not alone in knowing these changes need to happen, and you have missed much that I speak on. Things these people know to be true.

  • "You don't recognize me? That hurts! It's me, Vale!
But you've really said a lot haven't you? The first dissenting voice that speaks up and the first thing you do is accuse them of being "One of Voss's men".
You're claiming all of these things about D'cameron and Voss, but these are all things that people begun to speak of after you took control, you've been quite busy trying to turn the people of Norwick against it's leaders.

You even rushed everyone out here to the Temple of Kelemvor, away from any authority in Norwick, so you could make more openly aggressive speeches without any interference I bet!"

  • @981796785c=Cookiemancer:

A voice from a hooded man in the crowd speaks up

"Honestly that Uljas guy seems alright, first thing he did was throw a party! What's Voss done against Norwick anyway? Has he or D'cameron actually done anything to cause tyranny on the common people? I've heard nothing of this, most I've spoken to have heard nothing of this, in fact, he's the one who let you "act like a leader" right? and he's only removed you from the position because you tried to overthrow the government? I haven't heard anything yet that seems unfair."

Looking towards the sound of the hooded figure

You sound like your one of Voss's men come here to try and turn the people against what they fight for. Ulja's does seem okay, yet what isn't okay is to think that he can be exempt from the law as there is no one exempt from it. Secondly as to his actions against Norwick, as well as D'camerons, both have stood back and allowed Norwicks militia to fall apart, for five years I asked for Chief Voss or D'cameron to step up as leaders and take care of Norwick, and he only allowed me to act like a leader because my troops stood behind me. I don't know who you are to speak yet, so if you want me to take you seriously, step forward and be known.
