  • Morning Sir Jason. Ferns been thinking about Mercy. Yep! And it is a term that refers to , forgiveness and kindness.
    A knight must be willing to forgive people and show kindness to others. Like helping someone would show kindness. Like helping near dead Banite. Forgive him and help him on a better path.
    That is what Fern would do.

    That one is the hardest as many view its meaning differently as well, but generally it is regarded that we must battle the forces of wicked and always oppose it, but it doesn't mean we must kill them, we can battle without killing which is what makes us different. We always need to remember where to draw the line and show mercy.

    Your homework for tonight is to think on the different forms of Mercy, how a Knight might apply it to everyday life and how you might apply it when facing a downed enemy, such as stumbling across a near dead Banite under attack by others.

  • You speak wisdom itself my young Squire, people need to trust us to come to us with problems, if they think we may lie to them, or put them in danger, they wont want to come to us. Which of course leads to the last verse.

    Now this one has stumped many a squires as to its proper implication and exact meaning. What do you think it would be?

    Well, Fern thinks that Knights should speak only truth because like you said earlier, no one would trust a Knight who is a liar. And, and, and Fern think Knights are people you can go to with troubles. No one would want to go to liar knight. shakes head.
    No one would trust him or his motives. Not ta mention he would not be respected very much. And knights should be respected and thought of as people to go to in times of trouble...yep, yep, yep!


  • Jason nods and smiles at her attempt

    Very good, we must be ready even when exhausted beyond reason to fight for the good cause. No matter what we need to appear strong and that we are upholding the cause to give faith and comfort to the people around us that need us.

    His Words speaks only Truth, that one likely speaks for itself, so why is that so important?

    Fern not sure exactly... But what comes to mind is having the strength to stand up for something when no one else does.


  • Your correct, and I agree that everyone should do their part in protecting the helpless, even if it means they could get hurt. That is a choice though everyone has to make. What many don't stop to realize is that it can include your enemy too. Were I to find a lone Banite being bullied at the hands of ten zealot Tormtars, as a Knight, it would still be my duty to get involved to protect the Banite and try to help him get out alive, then by my duties as an Ilmaterian, heal him and try and show him a better path.

    So the next line is His Might upholds the Weak, *nods for her to continue with that one sipping a fresh tea *


  • His Blade defends the Helpless means that knight will be brave and protect someone innocent even when it puts him….or herself in harms way..yep yep......Although Fern think it applies to knights...it should be everyone.


    • Jason would simply chuckle at her eagerness but nods to her answer *

    A Knights heart must always only know Virtue. When they break that virtue then what is it they stand for? So a Knight must consider their actions at all times. Who would trust a Knight that lies, cheats or steals? Knights represent the people they swear to protect and the ideals of the god they serve. Thus Virtue plays a very vital role in the way a Knight must behave.

    So now as we break for lunch, the next line of the verse is "His Blade defends the Helpless". What exactly do you think this means and who does it apply to? Think of the last topic when you make your answer.


  • oh oh oh! Fern can answer that now…A quality that is good or admirable. Like having patience or honesty or discipline or .. well .. you get the idea i'm sure.
    So a knights heart only knows how to be disciplined and how to be honest and so on.
    And well... Fern thinks it effects knights by...umm..well it gives them a goal...you know, something to strive for.


    • The next morning Jason is again waiting for her by the fire sitting on the log. He looks to her and smiles listening to her answer as he sips a hot mug of Jasmine tea, the scent filling the air, a second mug sits waiting for her to ward away the mornings cold. *

    You are correct my Squire. Valor is being brave even when facing great danger when a greater cause demands it of us. Such as facing a dragon that will destroy a village, while it would scare most to the core, a Knight must be ready to take on such a challenge when the time comes.

    The next line was, His Heart knows only Virtue. What do you think that means and how does that effect a Knight?

    Fern think on valor and think it is having courage when defending a good cause yep!
    Aaand Fern think she has Valor. And it effects Fern life…hmmm..how to explain? Well it's more dangerous but worth it because for good cause, yes?

    • A look of sadness would be seen crossing Jason's features at the mention of goblins killing her family, a slow breath before the smile returns having heard the entire explanation and he nods approvingly *

    To become a Knight, one must understand the meaning of each virtue. So your homework for today is to think on the meaning of Valor. When you come to me on the morn tomorrow, I want you to tell me what Valor is and how it would effect your life.


  • Umm ok, ok..

    Fern is me..yep yep and be squire to First Knight of the Forsworn Sir Jason. Fern strengths are in err… bow and ummm...getting around un seen. Weaknesses umm..friends hurting yep but Fern don't like to see anybody hurt. Oh! And a weakness for candies! What is dear to Ferns heart is Ferns friends. Fern don't have family alive...nope, nope. They killed by goblins. Fern is good and honest and help others when Fern can. What is closest to my heart is Yondalla then Fern friends and now the Forsworn. Yep yep!
