Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • A party of adventurers was seen trudging into town and stacking up weapons, armors, and other spoils in the Commons. Norwick Captain Cecil, Troff Legion Captain Romulus, First Knight of the Order Ashena, and dwarves Gnarl and Fafir were overhead claiming that they encountered a beholder in the Kuo Toa caverns. Ashena killed it. There also were several smaller "eye-thingies" called Gauths, and at least three magic eaters. Not the normal denizens of those caverns. At least the party earned some magic crystals for their efforts.

  • _Again, undead assail the center of the city, despite the dread Baron Locke's defeat. Spectres, wraiths and worse appeared at the edges of the warded commons, all beaten back by the gathered adventurerers present. All but for one - a female figure in a dark, flowing robe, draped in powerful magic protections. The mysterious figure made mournful predictions and threats against parts of the group before vanishing, the paladin Ashena Teroldys stubbornly defying it's message.

Afterwards, the group could be observed escorting a startlingly beautiful elven man with blue-tinged skin to the temple of the Triad, supposedly for tea and pie. Strangely, a blueish fog seems to have rolled in during this, settling first at the commons and then the residential district, before slowly dissipating._

  • A Raumviri rider enters the city in a hurry, heading towards the city hall. He leaves after no more than 3 minutes, quickly riding back to his town.

  • …and post campaigning, it seems snow is the favoured stuff to sling rather than mud. It is said even the supposedly stuffy Mariston Thel was laughing like a school boy, joining in the snowball fight...

  • As the elections draw to a close, Dwin Dolvak can be seen frequenting many of the drinking establishments in Peltarch, buying rounds of ale, and "suggesting" to anyone who hasn't yet voted that the do so, promptly.

  • As Talindra frequents the commons, when Hess is asking she smiles to him and tells him she will gladly tell him of his fate if he wishes.

((Can pm me if you want or we can meet IG.

  • Hess Arksaniss, red-bearded hippy from the South, asks around the snow-ridden commons and asks around for anyone that was with his mentor Jerrick on the recent glacier trip, can speak to his passing, or knows anything of his final hours.

  • Several patches of snow grace the inside courtyard of the commons now, and stick around for a couple of days, unless magically dispelled. It's light, fluffy, and great for snowballs.

  • Legion

Martouscha Leaffall hasn't been seen or heard from for at least a few days…

  • Peltarch has been through a lot the last few weeks: the mudslinging Senate elections, the heavy rains and flooding, armies of undead attacking the city, a great sword being imploded in the middle of the Commons, and the lich Baron Locke appearing there himself to hurl spells at everyone. You would think people would be given a chance to rest for a few days. But NO!

First comes news that drowned undead are in the sewers trying to kill our brave knights. Then a vampire and its spawn of prostitutes are seen there. Finally, some fool lets a band of invisible gnolls right into the city.

Romulus was seen returning bedraggled and weary from the sewers. He stopped to greet Gnarl in the Commons before heading into the Mermaid to rest when an invisible gnoll caster summoned an air elemental to attack him. Completely out of spells and buffs, the formerly brave Troff Legion captain was seen running for his life while an air elemental chased and beat him up. He escaped only by slipping into Dolvak's Exterminators.

Maria, Gnarl, Rasuil, Kezia, and Maki took on the gnoll caster and killed him. Maria was heard sternly lecturing Maki, whose fireball foray into the gnoll woods apparently stirred up the dog-faces and inflamed them into following him back to Peltarch. A battle near south gate then ensued, with enraged gnolls attacking and frothing at the mouth before all were slain by the defenders.

  • _During the torrential downpour some of the mercenaries have packed up and headed west, while the rest simply shift to higher ground, away from the city. A few were seen taking up lodgings in inn and taverns in the Docks.

The Amethyst Festhall was disinfected after the cremation of a suspected plague carrier which had died while in quarantine._

  • After about a month, Labur finally is seen in Peltarch again. He arrives a few days after the undead attack and walks straight to the Mermaid without so much as a glance at the wreckage. He takes up residence on a back bench with a defeated look on his face. Most dismiss him for a victim of the recent attacks as he sits for three days staring off in space, refusing any aid or interactions besides the occasional ale order.

  • A red-haired gypsy girl has become a regular at The Dancing Mermaid, usually taking up a table in a far corner of the tavern with her journal and a large tankard of ale. She seems to be particularly interested in the recent outing by the druid Jerrick and his party to fix the weather crisis in Narfell. Those that seek her out and join her at her table have been thus far rewarded with alcohol and cheerful conversation, and those with reliable tidbits of information have more often than not walked away with a clinking in their pocket.

  • Three mages Mystic, Maria and Varia and Jason the Illmateri cleric were seen heading towards the docks after an unexpected attack in the commons. The powerful and unknown dark, humanoid and slimy creature was assumed to have made its way through the grate from the underground sewer.

  • As the many flyers catch the wind, they cavort around town, spreading their gospel demanding the removal of the entire Senate, Mystic chases them like so many butterflies, plucking them from the air only to let them go again, happily humming to herself as they sail away.

  • As of late, people has noticed that María walks the Peltarch's streets without leaning on her staff. In fact, there's no staff to be seen…..

    • Jason is seen spending hours speaking to Raryldor in the Peltarch commons about concerns of the city and other matters that could be addressed. Later that night he goes about speaking to the public at random about some of Raryldors plans for the city. *

Did you know that Raryldor actually would like to see better trade brought into Peltarch to boost the economy?

Did you know he is actually very concerned about the docks district and the orphanage issues of people being kidnapped and the Cyricists that have been under the city for a long long time that no one seems to be addressing?

Did you know that he was a fighter in the Njast war and still wants to try and solve these problems in Jiyyd?

*He speaks openly infront of a group discussing the elections as he considers his words he finally speaks more publicly *

I personally believe that Ilmater himself would support Raryldor and as such I personally support him, I would encourage anyone that would like to see a greater change for Peltarch and that actually wants someone that will actually DO something for Peltarch rather then sit behind a desk and gossip as I have noted from most of the current Senate, then vote for Raryldor. He is that man and he will help get things done!

  • Jake is seen lately around the whole town, speaking with most of the citizens he crosses path and cheering them up despite the martial law that's enforced lately. He is also talking to them for the late political matters and suggesting them to gather at the docks district in short time. Most people notice an amusing aura on him.

  • _Unsubstantiated sources rumor that there is more meaning to the mercenary presence outside Peltarch - when they have nothing else to talk about, tavern denizens speculate on what it all means.

What it means for the smiths, is better business - although such business coming through the gates are greeted with wary and alert eyes of the Defenders and Guards enforcing martial law in the street._

  • Kasim el Shah, the Calishite, seems awfully proud of his new joke, sharing something to all those who sit near him at the Dancing Mermaid Inn

"You know, my favourite speech was the elf's. The twisted irony when he said 'My eyes will be upon you as they ever have, walking with you and alongside you, and not from a perch looking down.' as he spoke from a podium looking down at everyone gives me such simple delight."
