Dirty and ragged, the girl who would become known as Hrnaghr was orphaned as a child when her remote forest cottage was destroyed by a band of migrating goblins, killing her family in the process. Alone in the wilderness she wandered thereafter for many a day, surviving by what she could find or catch, and stealing from hunter's traps and the rare homestead, until she discovered a young, tiny Eyeball stuck in a trap near the mountains close to her former home. Consumed by the newfound loneliness of her situation and having always wanted a pet, she took the cage with her and proceeded to gentle Graghr slowly with scraps of food and tender care, and finally released it from its cage when it had recovered, gaining a new companion on her wanderings. Already unwelcome in most communities since she was half-wild and constantly filthy, her new friend only made it worse when townsfolk would discover she traveled with a beholderkin. Angry at society's inability to accept Graghr, they continued their life in the remote places, venturing near towns only when forced by loneliness or a need for supplies. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Hrnaghr, such close, prolonged exposure to her new family's eye magics slowly drew forth a sympathetic power from within her…
