Creg's Clases

  • _The following are accounts of Creg Festers lectures for the Baneite School of Wizardry

Creg waits with Louis at the head of the church until the seven students file in. He makes a brief hushed comment to his fellow teacher before he begins his introductory speech._

Welcome students to your first session at the Baneite School of Wizardry, I will be co-teaching you along with Louis du Lorraine. You may refer to us as Master Fester and Master du Lorraine respectively.

I will be in charge of teaching you magic theory, the workings behind the spells, who created them, why, how to approach and identify new magics, and generally building your working knowledge of magic. Master du Lorraine will be in charge of practical application of magic teaching you proper form for spell use, combat tactics for spells, and a bit of alchemy as well. There will be some overlap between us, but those are our foci.

I will let Master du Lorraine evaluate your current progress later as it seems some of you already have a bit of talent for the arcane. For now lets get a bit of background on magic, shal we?

Creg pulls out a chalkboard on wheels and puts it into the front of the class

Oh and I expect you all to have parchment, pens and inkwells from now on. If you do not have any today feel free to come up and take what you need for notes.

_He continues teaching about the difference between raw magic and the weave and how it is necessary to use the weave in order to cast spells. How Mystra mends the weave and how Shar has her own weave in place. The dangers of both using the shadow weave and raw magic are addressed; servitude to Shar and madness being the chief concerns.

After his overview he lets Louis have a crack at determining what aptitude for magic they all have and what potential any of them show, and whatever else Louis would like to say to the students. This takes up all of the class time and Creg sends them off with a smirk happy at today's lesson._

  • _This is a lecture after a few tendays of lecture in which Creg and Louis have been splitting classes. Louis takes two days a tenday and Creg takes three with them occasionally sitting in on each others lectures as time permits.

Creg waits for all of his students to enter having memorized there names by this point._

I see everyoen is here, no need to take attendence then.

Magic is somethign of great power and something which is often studied. The pool of working knowledge is contained in pages uppon pages, chapeter uppon chapter, and book uppon book. It is important to know where to gain such knowledge as you do not alwayse have such information at the top of your head.

I have been teaching you so far what I knwo of magic , what I have found. The basics of the weave and thoughts as to how and why it functions. However there is alwayse a slim chance that my knowledge is incompleet. You must each learn how to do individual research yourself. One never knows when they will be called on to find out a crucial fact or tidbit of information.

He takes out a bag from behind a chair and places it uppon the alter

I would like each of you to come up here and draw a name form this bag. I will be recording the names so do not switch with anyone.

The all file up and take a name from the bag and he recordes them on a sheet of parchment

It is tiemfor your first assignment. You each will be responsible for making a paper on the mage in question. Teh focci of which should be there contributions to the understanding or use of magic, an dnot there personel accomplishments or battels won unless that is being used as a reference for how powerfull or usefull there spell is. I expect it to be at least three pages in length and I want it legable.

Now then yesterday we where talking aobut dead magic zones and how they can be created detected and avoided…

he continues the rest of the lecture on how maic can be nullified or deflected
