Panicked Riots

_Clay makes his way from the Docks district to the Mermaid to check on his mother Raina, who works in the kitchen there. He tends to simply push through with a snarl unless he sees a woman or child being harmed or hassled in any way. He seems to have no problem tossing an angry rioter or two in this situation.

Upon reaching the inn, he helps evacuate people to Norwick (his mother included) and escorts them south if they are not willing to take the boats._

Dondiah is seen with her fiance Clay in the same Cerulean garb as Lycka, though it looks to be of old design, and assists those fleeing Pelt to Norwick much in the same way she and Clay escorted those fleeing Norwick to Peltarch. Many children are seen with sprigs of lavender in their hands which is meant to help calm panic. Her fair face holds a calm expression but her words are firm and definite, as if she has been through this many many times before.

  • _In Cerulean blue and silver, Lycka walks the streets of the city, assisting guards and citizens in peril where she can. Despite the chaos, Lycka's demeanor appears calm and confident, words of reassurance and the occasional smile passing her lips as she tries to soothe frazzled nerves and dampen panic and violence. ((charisma 20, persuade +10))

In contrast, the more superstitiously inclined sailors at the Lucky Ferret Inn have immediately begun taking emergency actions as all windows are barred shut, while beefy bouncers keep riotous elements away from the establishment. The nearby warehouse is likewise barred, the black and gold-clad crew working hard to secure the precious cargo within._

  • Shannon spends a good deal of his time using whatever magic he has to aid in extinguishing fires and to help the guard break up the most unruly mobs.

  • Legion

Senator Martoushca, Flanked by a good number of Defenders and Legion, Stands on the wall encircling the commons to address the crowd gathered at town hall. The volume and authority with which she speaks seems totally mismatched to her Hin stature (not counting her strong thigh muscles)

**SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE JEWEL!

WE ARE HERE, IN OUR HOME, IN OUR CITY.

YOUR HEARTS HAVE BEEN SET TO FLIGHT BY AN ILL REPORT, AND I CAN UNDERSTAND IT. THE SUDDEN REVELATION OF THIS SECRET PERIL MAY HAVE TAKEN THE HEART OF ME ALSO. MY MEMORY MAY BE POOR AT TIMES, BUT ITS GOOD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THAT PELTARCH HAS SEEN WORSE DAYS THAN THIS, AND IT MAY WELL SEE WORSE YET!

NOW IS THE TIME FOR US ALL TO FALL BACK UPON THAT STRENGTH THAT HAS PRESERVED THIS CITY IN THE PAST. OUR FAITH, OUR UNITY, OUR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER. THAT IS WHAT REBUILT THIS CITY AND THAT IS WHAT WILL KEEP IT TOGETHER YET!

OUR CITY IS HOME TO TEMPLES AND SHRINES, BOTH GRAND AND EFFECTIVE. THIS CURRENT PERIL - I HEAR REPORT THAT IT IS FROM THE HANDS OF SPIRITUAL BEINGS. WELL … THE SPIRITUAL BEINGS WHO KEEP WATCH OVER THIS CITY ARE FAR GREATER THAN THOSE WHO POSE A THREAT! BROTHERS AND SISTERS I BEG YOU - MAY THE GODS HEAR YOUR VOICE! NOW IS THE TIME TO BESEECH THE GOD YOU WERE DEDICATED TO, YOUR PATRON GOD WHO WILL COLLECT YOUR SOUL IN THE NEXT WORLD. LET OUR GODS HEAR OUR VOICES NOW! SURELY THE MIGHT OF TYR, TORM, ILLMATER, SELUNE, AND ALL THE OTHER GODS WHO ARE CALLED UPON IN THIS GREAT CITY ARE EASILY ABLE TO EXTEND THEIR HAND TO SMITE THE INSIGNIFICANT ENTITIES WHO NOW TROUBLE US!

IF YOUR HEART FAILS THEN SO BE IT. BUT I IMPLORE YOU BY THE BLOOD OF ALL WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES TO DEFEND THIS CITY IN THE PAST, AND BY ALL WHO STAND TO DEFEND IT STILL, GO TO YOUR GODS! DRAW THEIR GAZE UPON US BY OFFERING PRAYERS AND WORSHIP AT THEIR SHRINES. IT IS NOT BY MIGHT OR BY ARCANE KNOWLEDGE, BUT BY OUR FAITH AND UNITY THAT WE SHALL SEE THE END OF THIS!**

With that she hops down from the wall, makes her way over to the tree in the common closest to town hall, grasps onto it and begins praying and singing praises in hin to her goddess Sheela.

  • The normally nervous mage Elva has been treating the rioting with intense rage, shoving her way through crowds and shouting at people who try to talk to her with accusations and insults.

  • A dark figure is seen helping to escort the wounded victims to safety within the temple of the Triad. He goes out again and again bring them in from all over Pelt. He pauses on one trip to check on Syclya, watching worriedly as she tries to keep up with all the wounded. They exchange a brief hug before both return to their duties.

  • Gnomish chevalier and Peltarch resident Perriwig P. Doubleday is on holiday in the Silver Valley and misses the revolting revolters revolting. The worst calamity assailing him is the bottom of the jam jar.

"Pass the butter would you Carmey dearest?" he, says.

  • _Adrian continuously tries to calm the worst of the havoc where he can.

Hammerhand moves trough the city watching it all go down fairly calmly, though for whatever reason, it seems that now and then he's found inside with the riots, either with the guards or with the rioters themselves./i]_

  • Shaking her head and mumbling under her breath Syclya works double time at the Temple of the Triad, distributing cures for ailments and tending the injured with traditional and divine healing.

  • Looking sick to her stomach, Eluriel leaves the docks to go hunting in the foothills. She cures the meat and takes it to the temple in sacks for storage and distribution.

  • Yana instructs the guards that work for her that their focus is to save lives and protect the people, rather than try to stop the riots. The riots appear too large for the beleaguered guards to deal with, and except in extreme cases, making arrests at this point appear futile. If someone is getting attacked, defend them if possible. Lives are more important than property damage.

  • _Rioting ceases around city hall as people boo and hiss and yell curses at whatever is threatening them with TEH PAIN if they try and murder each other.

Some people cheer Rath and Mariston, others make easily understood gestures._

  • Speaking from the balcony of City Hall, Rath Ashald addresses the crowd gathering.

"Friends! Why all this panic over nothing? Senator Redralen has all the skill of a sorcerer, but he has not the wisdom of a wizard. This strange calamity that has befallen our City has him much afrighted, but do not share in his fear! These visions of N'Jast, I ask you, why should they be feared? Their danger is known to our loyal guards, to our brave soldiers, and to our cunning Cerulean Knights.

Return to your homes. The Senate and its servants will resolve this matter. There is no need to panic.

Peltarch will overcome these paltry visions…or have your memories failed you all? The real N'Jast war failed to defeat Peltarch…and the memory of it will fare far worse, or my name isn't Rath Ashald!"

The Senator then turns from the balcony to join the meeting within.

  • With Mariston's speech, Shannon casts an End to Strife (non-lethal) spell in the commons area, hopefully bringing an end to any and all violence in the area and discouraging its continuance as the Senate deliberates - with full knowledge that the spell could never last that long.

  • ::Mariston is seen outside the Temple aiding as best the Temple can, ensuring the people are calmed and offering them a place to pray and take stock. He will then convince as many as he can to return to their homes and await official announcements. He then moves to the Town hall again and makes a statement.::

“People of the Jewel, do not panic. The Senate is working to ensure thine safety as we speak.
Please return to thine homes and await the Senates word on this matter, do not give into fear”

::Mariston then returns to the chambers looking less than pleased::
