Whispers at the Fire

  • About one of the fires, a dwarven woman is heard.

_….aye, there was a great swarm o' th' greenskins tha' apparently b' after a pink-haired-nae-pants-wearin'-trollop....they hit th' gates hard....an' made it t' th' inner gates....but th' brave dwarven guardsman an' his companion wit' th' 'elp o' some o' th' local longshanks fought back th' horde.

From where I was up there, mannin' th' catapult....I could see m' kin's bravery, an' th' actions o' th' others....truly a sight t' behold as th' guards an' th' other longshanks waded hip deep in o' sea o' greenskins.

Next time y' see m' kinsmen an' 'is companion Timmot, b' sure t' b' thankin' them fer all th' work they b' doin' fer th' safety 'o this 'ere town._

She takes a final swig of a full bodied ale and departs, heading towards the Dwarven Hold.

  • _Unnerved guards are heard to say that Aramuil and Wren went into the Great Hall to talk about something.

Nobody is clear on what they discussed or when Wren departed, but they say the last anyone saw of Aramuil was a glowing, rippling hole in the air devouring him whole while fanged cats sang songs about skulls and knuckles.

Aramuil has not been seen since._

  • Aramuil, strangely, is no where to be seen. Also oddly, the Norwick militia seem to have a new pet chicken, that spends most of its time clucking about the barracks and Great Hall areas.

… a lone hin with goggles was seen ...

    Benji comments.

    "Well I don't remember … doing those things ..."

He squints at the ground for a moment then looks up.

    " <g>An imposter!"</g>

  • _An incident at the South Gate earlier saw multiple fire elementals running after people, who attacked them with weapons, whilst a lone hin with goggles was seen dragging barrels of water from the inn in town to use against them to great effect.

Afterwards, he seemed to evaluate the scenario and make some notes in a book, commenting on the idiocy of the lint economy._

  • A couple of citizens were witnessed to accuse Apollo of using illegal methods to gain social power in Norwick. They also threatened his life in hope of making him quit. The tall priest of Oghma answered in calm tone, telling them they shouldn't be afraid of him.Especially in the case he had such ''ambitions''.

If asked, close persons to him admit they are worried of his intentions cause he never again had made contacts with such many and wealthy people, and locals…

  • Despite all the constant attack to Norwick, the south gate was again a place of joy… at last for a Dwarf.

After more than 3 years as an apprentice, Vanderkaus was accepted as a member of the Crafter’s Union.

After receiving his key and a very well made electrum carving knife, he was seem heading towards the gates looking for some friends to share the news.

There from the top of the archer tower, and showing a child like smile, he announced his acceptance to all those that were there.

Then, he headed inside town, and was spotted looking for more and people to tell the news, and bringing a few ale bottles with him

… some of them were obviously, empty.

    • Eh, cant wait for everyone to start drinking.

_Loafers around the south gates staggered out to gawp at a strange sight… someone had piled a stack of crates and barrels in a great heap, with signs in front of it bearing the enticing message:

    **FOR SQUEKKS

    LOTS OF SKINS AN COAL

    I ATEN'T A TRAP**

After some wary circling and debate on what to do, in the end the bystanders watched as a deer wandered up to the heap.

The explosion shook the woods for quite some distance, but none save the deer were hurt._

Apparently a gnome crafted this stunning lithograph of the aftermath based on eyewitness testimony…although Rico is not sure what all the filigree and images in the margins is all about.

  • Rumours have it that Apollo often walks around Norwick's places, visiting locals and whole families. He is discussing unknown things and when is ''proper'' gives some gold and leaves satisfied.Among taverns is being said that he bribe citizens for something political.

  • Eve has been seen sitting at the bar in Grapevine Inn quite often lately, sipping on a glass of wine. She appears to be deep in thought and every time someone enters the establishment she takes a quick glance to see which new traveller has wandered in. The often ditzy elf's demeanor seems to have changed a little as she becomes more quiet and more contemplative.

  • Rain has been seen chatting to other Redcloaks about the recent Duergar assassination attempts on a certain elf at the southern gates.

  • The elf, Eve, was seen in the company of guards recently. Some are saying the ditzy elf has been asking about a job with the Militia. Others discount those rumors and say she's dating one of the Redcloaks.

  • Apollo lately is often seen wandering in Norwick, enjoying his daily walks. Some adventurers saw him entering houses that belong to reach, wealthy people.Later on,he is returning with a satisfied smile on his face.

  • After the gates were attacked twice by some goblin scouts, Kabul decided to launch an offensive against them. A few days later, a group of six was gathered at the south gate heading south; their destiny: the Goblin Hold.

By the side of the apprentice scout of the militia, was Rain, the redcloak swordswoman; Vick, the Sailor and his many tricks, Caelisar, the elven priest of Lurue and sharpshooter, the tracker Rasuil Delagin and a young woman named Areopea.

The trip through the goblin borderland was uneventful. The few goblins that stood on the group’s way were easily dealt with. But, the real challenge was yet to come. Into the Hold they went fighting their way deeper and deeper, until almost none of the inhabitants of those caves were left standing.

Goblin warriors, spell casters, archers and assassins stood on their way besides beatles and bugs, with sharp fangs and stinking breath. Even a hulk was handled down the six of them, as they went reached the second level of that cave maze.

On the next day, during the festival, the group returned and went straight to the Dwarven Hold to sell the spoils of the battle. At the Hold´s entrance, they split a few special items, and then, each of the six adventurers went back to his or her business.

Couple of days later, Kabul is again spotted at the top of the South Gate Tower. He is quiet as always, only responding when spoken to. Even tough he can’t hide a smile indicating a bit of pride with what he and his friends have done, his eyes also show something else: a bit of frustration.

Anyone at ear-shot range can overhear the apprentice scout saying to himself:

I will find him and do what I should have done when I had the chance.”

  • There is talk around town about a possible thief being captured at the most recent festival. Some say that the thief was seen being escorted off to the prison barracks, where there is some debate on if they were seen coming back out.

  • Several have seen Donnie and Clay just returned from their trip at the Moonshae Isles looking more relaxed and more affectionate than ever. They are seen sporting some new outfits as well and even participated in Fight Night for the first time in a very very long time. Their spirits look up.

  • People guarding the south gate were spooked by the sight of a panther. The panther had a pixie friend who proclaimed that her Kitty was a nice one. Both cat and fae were happy to see Rith, and the panther turned into none other than Tindra. All three went into town for a nice long talk.

Wherever Tindra went, it must have been a rough trip. She looked worn from travel and had a noticeable limp in her step.

_Rumour goes around the town about a duel to the death between a woman in green, and a woman in red, silver, and black.

The woman in green lost, and her body was carried off to the woods._

Colors? I don't give a <g>shite</g> about what Gondamn color they were wearing! Who where they?

    Elf Davanros shares his viewpoint
"Who they were, huh? That corpse was good but insignificant repayment toward Nature and its carrion feeders for the vast damage you town-fools have been causing with your foolish actions of repairing that filthy gnomes weird airship. Each tree felled contains its own tree spirit and amount of you have butchered equals to genocide already.. Time of repayment will come and nature shall have revenge. I will see to it as long as I draw breath, as Lone Wolf enacts fitting justice through me.."
