Seek unceasing war against your enemies, and kill or enslave those who oppose you. Acquire territory and living space. Destroy elves, their homes, and their lands. Crush the dwarves and take their deep caves for your own. Be strong, and be prepared to show your strength at any moment. Showing weakness is the key to an early death. Those that are too weak to fight for your tribe should be put to the spear. The greatest gift that He Who Watches gave to the orcs was the ability to survive where the weaker races would die. Build your strength in these lands and use them to overrun your enemies.

These were the words taught to Guurag from a young age, beaten into him by fist and stick by his mother, Buurbag Skullix, High Priestess of the One Eye.

His parents were amongst the first of the Iron Chain Clan. Buurbag and Glunk, both Shamans and leaders of their people. Their joining was a matter of much celebration and joy for the clan, with the hope that from this there would be many new warriors to carry on the work started by Arak'Hur and his minions.

Guurag was the first to be born, large and strong, like his father. Not the brightest, but certainly showing his orc blood in everything he did. His father Glunk spent much time with him, trying to show him the strength of the true Orc, and sharing his love for his kin.

But, tragedy befell the family, when it was only just beginning. Glunk died deep within the bowels of the earth, trying to reclaim a cave from the Kuo-tua. His bride, Buurbag, was inconsolable at the loss of her husband, but she soon found that she had bigger issues. She was pregnant again. When the time came, she gave birth to Vluung, another male.

Truly the One Eye had blessed their union, even though it had come at a cost. Two males to the one female, and both were born to be warriors, although of different sorts.

As they grew up, it soon became obvious that each took after a different parent. Guurag was the spitting image of Glunk. Large, Strong, and determined, although not that bright. Vluung was like his mother. Strong, but wily and cunning.

Buurbag raised them faithfully, following Glunk's wishes that they learn of Garagos, his god. She also taught them of Gruumsh, and ensured that the majority of their instructions focused on the Orc Father rather than the minor god of destruction that Garagos is.

Guurag favored the axe, in all it's forms. From the hand axe to the great axe, he showed a lot of skill and brute strength, destroying anything in his path. Vluung instead learnt the way of the spear, favored weapon of Gruumsh, and even developed some skill with healing and blessings.

The One Eye had again blessed the family, with a warrior and a shaman in the same generation.

Working together, Guurag and Vluung learnt the value of one another's skills: Guurag rushing in to destroy whilst Vluung hung back and took out foes on the edges, healing Guurag as needed. They defeated all their mock scenarios, and basic training with Buurbag was intense. She drilled them in combat, teaching them how to find an open spot to aim for, how to distract your foe to strike him mightily, and when to withdraw rather than die.

But, as the boys got older, it became apparent that something was missing in their development. Buurbag had done everything that a mother could, but she was not Glunk. She could never replace him. So, she appealed to Arak'Hur, Chieftain of the Iron Chain Clan, to act in Glunk's stead, to teach them to be true orcs and males, to spit in the face of all who opposes them.

Guurag would be the first, and his Rite of Passage begins soon…
