Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

Paying duty on corpses
_It almost seems like the regular thing to happen, at least it's the second time in the same month that corpses were dragged to the gates by a woman who keeps going on and on about lions. Each time she is accompanied by a man, and each time she brings a story of how she supposedly assisted the men in defeating some threat.
The first time it was the half-chewed remains of a caravan, attacked or so they claimed in the pass, and now the slashed and badly abused corpses supposedly retrieved from a goblin hideout near the destroyed watchtower.
In related news, it seems some very nasty books and plans of a joined hobgoblin and goblin group were retrieved and the first foothold of that band beaten back away from Peltarch. Whether that makes Peltarch any safer or is worth mentioning at all while shadows come alive in the commons is for everyone to decide for themselves._

_Apparently punctilious Peltarchian lawyer, Aleksandr Borodin - uncle of the newly appointed third city magistrate, Vlana Borodin - has been taken on in some capacity with the Black Sails Trading Company. His dark, stickly figure can now be seen entering the organisation's Peltarchian warehouse on a daily basis, a satchel of papers slung tightly over one his narrow shoulders.
Shortly afterwards, a memo is sent to the various guilds and organisations who might have call to enter into a trading relationship with the Black Sails, advising them to direct their correspondence to him personally, for the time being._

Rumors circulate about House Daedelus and the return of the eldest son of Jesomar from Damara. Some say that the whole family confronted him in the Commons before accepting him back, others that the young man, called Valmar or Valmer or something, was lectured to before being sent home. Stories vary as to where the young scion has been these past years and what he has been up to, but most recall his shiny gold armor and large warhammer. Some say he's been off adventuring, others fighting for the King of Damara, and still others that he was exiled for some crime or another and only recently was permitted to return.

_People in Oscuran livery are about town seemingly talking with people and being polite to the various Peltarchian officials.
Seems they are doing two things of note quite openly.
First, a group has gone to all the merchants and have handed out a small sack of coins containing a platinum, a gold, an electrum, a silver, and a copper pieces all stamped from Oscuran mints. While handing the coins over they are told the benefits of having a standard coinage weight used for all transactions to maximize merchant profits and minimize loss per coin trade as the Narfell coinage used is a wide mix of various quality and weights used throughout Faerun.
Secondly, another groups seems to be offering jobs for the unemployed and skilled workers in Oscura, for Oscura, and outside Oscura depending on their vocation.
How effective either group is has yet to be seen._

An elf dressed in green leathers chuckles as she hears the rumor and mutters something about greedy halflings. If she is asked for details she just replies in a harsh tone.
I wonder how she would feel if she gets sold to a giant who holds her most of her life in a cage. I for one truly believe she wouldn't feel good at all. Those who ask about the whereabouts of the bunny are being told it was set free near the Rawlinswoods.

Wanted: The Bunny that Ran-Off!
Of the stories that put heroic adventurers into a shining light of goodness, the latest talk about how a band of three chased after a cute little bunny to bring it back to its sweet girl owner must surely warm every good man's heart - until they start hearing the obscure details that keep being added to that particular story. The bunny once retrieved was sold right on to an elf who wanted something cuddly to hold; the reward the adventurers received was curst fish food; the girl who sent the adventurers on this sweet little quest was killed by the very adventurers; and to top it all off, sometimes it's said the girl was none other than an old, very ugly witch - sometimes even an orc witch.

Rumours circulate in the mermaid of Cerulean Knight Seth Kenton being attacked by a troop of Sun Elves on the road North of Norwick. Somewhere between 5 and 20 Elves attacked the war hero… of course, he prevailed.

Most would have spotted a rothe grazing near the south gates of the city. They'd also notice Martoushca taking careful care of it, making sure it is fed, watered and protected against hungry dwarves looking for a juicy steak dinner. Anyone inspecting the creature closely will notice a wooden tag hanging around the creatures neck

((// The folks who saved the Rothe during the attack on the south gate should see Marty IG for their reward. ))

Adrian and Marty walked into the town one evening, leading a roth and a poney pulling a sled of dead bodies, and one living armored man. They headed straight for the temple. Perhaps it has something to do with the large group that left the city earlier that day, in response to an attack on a Helmite caravan..

Fire! Fire!
Shouts and screams were heard in the small alley behind the Mermaid, at first it seemed as if someone had burst into flame - most likely as the result of some cruel Kossuthian magic - then when a crowd of spectators had assembeled the fire took shape, feeding off things in the area it grew and split and spread into the Docks, leaving a trail of ashes and fires behind. It's said that with the help of Senator Martoushca the flames could be beaten out - before it reached the tents - but maybe it was just the constant rain that did the fire in.

((OOC: Was pretty funny actually. After attacking us a few times for absolutely no reason, the told us "this server sucks, you guys need to learn how to role play" and logged off. Hmm …))

Rumour goes around that a half orc strode into town and started picking fights with citizens with no provocation, going so far as to attack people in front of Senator Leaffall. She quickly subdued him and had him dragged off in chains to await judgment.
(OOC: Griefer logged on and started PKing, see St Albion for more details)

Those in the commons this evening were treated to a scene when a powerful devil appeared suddenly and was attacked by city notables, including the Lady Vlana Borodin, who brought storms of ice down upon the creature, unfortunately to no effect. Sir Aeadan claimed to have encountered the fiend before, then turned and left, saying only that he had to inform Lady Daisy and the temple of what had happened.

_Rumors spread of an incident between a brutish Sail known as Jay and a knightly priest known as Aeadan. Apparently the Sail had insulted Senator Marty in some fashion, and thus caused the knight to challenge him to a duel, which took place outside the gates of Peltarch.
Chants and such were heard outside the gates, with bright divine lights as the duel went on… all of the chants coming from our good knight. However, the brutish Sail managed to keep his feet, despite the onslaught of prayers and steel. The duel was a close battle, though eventually, the brute of a Sail came out the victor... and thus won the right to refuse apologizing to Senator Marty.
Even after his defeat, the brave knight still fought for the senator's honor with words, though the brute only seem amused by them. The two fighters eventually going off their seperate ways, though will a rivalry be formed between them?_

Stories begin spreading from people who saw a large, brown bear skulking through the alleys of Peltarch in the night. It was carrying a dead man in its teeth, but that was not the strangest. Rumors claim it had armor, weapons, bags, and other items tied around it with rope. Some say it disappeared into the Temple of the Triad, others that it returned to the sewers where it still dwells waiting until it is ready to feast again.
-
Pitch-black, chill and eerie darkness once again descended on the commons, shadowy creatures striking at the assembled crowd present. While some rumours claim several of these ghastly fiends were heroically stricken down by none other than Senator Rath Ashald, other, more cynical voices state that the senator himself is the sole origin and believer of such claims. While no casualties were reported from the incident itself, it can be noted that another murder is said to have taken place in the bath house, that very night.

The quiet apprentice Gaerielle from the Peltarch College was seen walking out of the city gates for the first time in months, wearing her armor and carrying a small notebook and a pack on her shoulder.
With a thin and somewhat distant, but honest smile, she announced apologeticly to the ones who may have asked that she will be gone for a few months at the most. She spoke of needing to find some magical material for a performance, as well as some time to think on a few things.

_Another explosions rocked the city, this one again from the docks. The main damage was to the Wavebreakers warehouse, which completely collapsed into the sewers. Several are unaccounted for from inside the building, the numbers of dead being brought up to close to twenty from the fire and flying debris as they wandered the cities.
A large group of city employees and adventurers entered the sewers, later returning with what appeared to a be a woman prisoner. Senator Hardin was also seen surveying the destroyed warehouse shortly after the explosions, cursing at Captain Fortescue to get his people out the building, storming off, not seeming in a good mood at all. Even Lady Vlana Borodin was also said to be covered in soot, her fine silk robes burnt and blackened as she helped the guard fight back the fire with ice storms._

*Pleasant evening of people gathered at common area was replaced by cries of battle and pain when all kind of Underdark creatures burst from the very earth itself.
Some of the creatures were easily recognised as spiders but some large fiends with hook -like appendages caused cries of terror among the people. Before guard was able to muster, few -taller than trees- fiends appeared. After some fighting, Grak the half-orc was able to land killing blow to last of them and cries of joy and victory were shouted.
They were short lived, as even bigger, gargantuan fiend burst from the ground. It obviously knew who had landed last killing blow for it brethens as it had his multiple eyes fixed at Grak. It quickly struck Grak down and dragged him to very tunnels it had burst from.
Later, Grak emerged from tunnel located at jousting grounds badly mauled and covered in dirt and grime. Suspious adventurers put him through some questioning, which some commoners might call torture. After short while, people believed Grak's tale of escaping from the fiend and clawing his way up the small tunnel which emerged from jousting grounds.

*Rumors abound about several shadowy creatures attacking someone in the common area outside the Mermaid.
Fortunately, the Peltarch guard were quick to react and a wandering passerby was also able to lend a hand. The undead were destroyed and only minor injuries were reported.*
