Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • Legion

((OOC: Was pretty funny actually. After attacking us a few times for absolutely no reason, the told us "this server sucks, you guys need to learn how to role play" and logged off. Hmm …))

  • Rumour goes around that a half orc strode into town and started picking fights with citizens with no provocation, going so far as to attack people in front of Senator Leaffall. She quickly subdued him and had him dragged off in chains to await judgment.

(OOC: Griefer logged on and started PKing, see St Albion for more details)

  • Those in the commons this evening were treated to a scene when a powerful devil appeared suddenly and was attacked by city notables, including the Lady Vlana Borodin, who brought storms of ice down upon the creature, unfortunately to no effect. Sir Aeadan claimed to have encountered the fiend before, then turned and left, saying only that he had to inform Lady Daisy and the temple of what had happened.

  • _Rumors spread of an incident between a brutish Sail known as Jay and a knightly priest known as Aeadan. Apparently the Sail had insulted Senator Marty in some fashion, and thus caused the knight to challenge him to a duel, which took place outside the gates of Peltarch.

Chants and such were heard outside the gates, with bright divine lights as the duel went on… all of the chants coming from our good knight. However, the brutish Sail managed to keep his feet, despite the onslaught of prayers and steel. The duel was a close battle, though eventually, the brute of a Sail came out the victor... and thus won the right to refuse apologizing to Senator Marty.

Even after his defeat, the brave knight still fought for the senator's honor with words, though the brute only seem amused by them. The two fighters eventually going off their seperate ways, though will a rivalry be formed between them?_

  • Stories begin spreading from people who saw a large, brown bear skulking through the alleys of Peltarch in the night. It was carrying a dead man in its teeth, but that was not the strangest. Rumors claim it had armor, weapons, bags, and other items tied around it with rope. Some say it disappeared into the Temple of the Triad, others that it returned to the sewers where it still dwells waiting until it is ready to feast again.

  • Pitch-black, chill and eerie darkness once again descended on the commons, shadowy creatures striking at the assembled crowd present. While some rumours claim several of these ghastly fiends were heroically stricken down by none other than Senator Rath Ashald, other, more cynical voices state that the senator himself is the sole origin and believer of such claims. While no casualties were reported from the incident itself, it can be noted that another murder is said to have taken place in the bath house, that very night.

  • The quiet apprentice Gaerielle from the Peltarch College was seen walking out of the city gates for the first time in months, wearing her armor and carrying a small notebook and a pack on her shoulder.
With a thin and somewhat distant, but honest smile, she announced apologeticly to the ones who may have asked that she will be gone for a few months at the most. She spoke of needing to find some magical material for a performance, as well as some time to think on a few things.

  • _Another explosions rocked the city, this one again from the docks. The main damage was to the Wavebreakers warehouse, which completely collapsed into the sewers. Several are unaccounted for from inside the building, the numbers of dead being brought up to close to twenty from the fire and flying debris as they wandered the cities.

A large group of city employees and adventurers entered the sewers, later returning with what appeared to a be a woman prisoner. Senator Hardin was also seen surveying the destroyed warehouse shortly after the explosions, cursing at Captain Fortescue to get his people out the building, storming off, not seeming in a good mood at all. Even Lady Vlana Borodin was also said to be covered in soot, her fine silk robes burnt and blackened as she helped the guard fight back the fire with ice storms._

*Pleasant evening of people gathered at common area was replaced by cries of battle and pain when all kind of Underdark creatures burst from the very earth itself.

Some of the creatures were easily recognised as spiders but some large fiends with hook -like appendages caused cries of terror among the people. Before guard was able to muster, few -taller than trees- fiends appeared. After some fighting, Grak the half-orc was able to land killing blow to last of them and cries of joy and victory were shouted.

They were short lived, as even bigger, gargantuan fiend burst from the ground. It obviously knew who had landed last killing blow for it brethens as it had his multiple eyes fixed at Grak. It quickly struck Grak down and dragged him to very tunnels it had burst from.

Later, Grak emerged from tunnel located at jousting grounds badly mauled and covered in dirt and grime. Suspious adventurers put him through some questioning, which some commoners might call torture. After short while, people believed Grak's tale of escaping from the fiend and clawing his way up the small tunnel which emerged from jousting grounds.

  • *Rumors abound about several shadowy creatures attacking someone in the common area outside the Mermaid.

Fortunately, the Peltarch guard were quick to react and a wandering passerby was also able to lend a hand. The undead were destroyed and only minor injuries were reported.*

A man dressed in smokey grey full plate has been seen in the park often lately, alone. He either walks slowly around the perimeter, twisting a ring on his finger, or sits at one of the benches constantly sharpening a long, curved sword with the words 'Fun Time' inscribed along the blade. He seems bored to some, mournful to some, and depressed to others.

  • ::Rumours speak of another body found, this time near the Temple of all places…seems that there was something written on the body. Some of the older patrons make warding signs when this is heard and a hush fills the Inn for a time::

  • Zombies recently attacked the south gate and walls of Peltarch, one giant creature even scaling the wall before it was destroyed by the Defenders, lead by General Neverith himself. Aiding in the city's defence were Magistrate D'Arneau, Senator Redralen and Aeadan Teddry, their timely counterstrike leading to the capture of a pale-haired woman in bronze armor, soon seen carried off to jail by Cerulean Knight Lycka Zomasdottir.

  • It seems Aleksandr Borodin isn't the only member of that noted Peltarchian noble house to visit the Lucky Ferret Inn of late, as the enchanting figure of Vlana Borodin, flanked by her heavily armoured bodyguards, recently payed the establishment a visit in the company of several Black Sails. The Borodins aren't the only nobles caught slumming at the Ferret either, as none other than Rath Ashald was noted to have popped in after the latest docks riots, conversing with fellow Senator Redralen and Captain Seesaw.

  • ::Rumours in the Mermaid speak of a body found in Ashald Park::

  • Vampire rumours persist in the city, the latest one mentioning a huge wolf running loose and a sudden darkness descending on the western gate, leaving two guards mysteriously missing, and a cart left in their place. It is said investigation of the scene found no trace of the guards, but footprints and marks suggest the contents of the cart was carried off under the cover of darkness - said contents being something oblong.. perhaps coffinshaped?

  • _After the Senate recently voted in favour of granting a Charter to the newly established Courtesan's Guild, things for the working guys and girls of the City have changed quite abruptly. Most Harlots no longer work for tavern owners, instead paying a moderate portion of their earnings to the Guild, in exchange for its protection and superior organising skills. For the average punter, not much has changed, except that rates have risen for those whores the Guild deems worth more. Some of the prostitutes have not joined up yet, but most people surmise it is only a matter of time. The main source of resistance to the Guild is coming from the Pissing Goat Tavern, who have barred the Guild's leader Rhyla Featherdown, and anybody who signs on with her. Since a lot of the flesh trade goes on at the Goat, there are still a fair amount of courtesans there who feel forced into not joining up.

The enterprising new Guild leader, in the meantime, has been seen meeting with Heffa and other members of the Stonemason's Guild, apparently already thinking about building a Guildhouse somewhere in the City._

  • Having been informed of the recent raid, Shannon takes it upon himself, the following day, to raid the orc cave via the upper-level entrance that was not sealed. He returns to town with a sack of loot and a small, uncharacteristic smile on this face. Should anyone ask about what he did, he simply replies that he cleaned out the entire cave.

  • During the recent ferment in the Docks district, around the Harvest Union guild house, a tall, black-besuited and skeletal figure stalked the edges of the crowd, observing the legal investigations of the magistrate and city officers with an air of informed interest. Locals will recognise the chap as one of the lawyers of the House Borodin brood, the spiderlike cousin of the more prominent Vlana and Grigor Borodin, Aleksandr. He was seen departing shortly after, taking long and lugubrious strides towards the Lucky Ferret…

    • Word is it that a senator named Marty with two fellow companions called Coin and "Paul Robbins" tried to fight back the Orcs at the farm, but due to heavy odds they were forced back*
