Drisinil Dalael - The Spider bite

  • [Apologies about the awful English :P]
"This is the last time you fail me,unworthy daughter!" the rather tall elf walked towards the knelling figure, backhanding her across the face and making her head toss. "I apologize, mother, I promise I'll do my best to not dishonour our house again. I'm already…", the answer from the kneeling elf was interrupted suddenly, as another slap hit her in the face.
"Shut up! Don't force me to make you of some use by offering your heart to the Spider Queen. Don't test my patience any longer Auluniira, or your corpse will be feeding rothés very soon. Go now, you're dismissed."
The dark skinned elf just bowed her head more, in a silent understanding, getting up and leaving the room casting her gaze at the floor. She did fail again, it was a simple divining spell she was asked to perform, but simply she did not feel any power washing across her body.
The mentors at the academy already punished her for her lack of results, while her sister was rapidly gaining the favours of the older priestesses and the Spider Queen herself. She was the daughter of a minor household, but still a noble and the older of two, expected to become a high priestess to succeed her mother some day. But her clerical training was a mess, her youger sister was learning faster, showing much more attitude to command and there was no doubt she would have been the one aiming to become the next matron.
Auluniira didn't care, the only field where she was making progress was in melee combat, to the point that her mother almost decided to just remove that daughter from the clerical career and let her die as a common houseless soldier.
As she was walking back to her room at the academy, Alaissindhara looked to her sister with a smile on her lips. She knew that their mother was watching her with favour over her older sister and she was eager to leave the academy to be at her mother's side in ruling the house. The young ambitious drow was like a spider waiting in her hole, having her pervert fun by watching a butterfly caught in her web, getting more desperate with each flap of her wings. The butterfly gave a vicious tug along the spiderweb when Auluniira gave birth to a child, well before the time she was allowed to...
"Mother, did you summoned me?" asked the slender female, as she was bowing her head respectfully. "Yes, Ala. As you may know your sister gave birth to a child, a little female niece to me. Although I should rejoyce in adding a female to our family, indulging in carnal pleasure instead of making better efforts to please Lolth, is not something I can tolerate. Nor the Goddess wishes to. It is Lolth's own will to have the blood of such insult soaking the stone of her altar". Alaissindhara gazed at her mother, raising her head slowly, a half smile twisting one side of her mouth "Are you asking me to become the only daughter of house Dalael, mother?". "No, I want you to bring her to me... and her child. We do not need another weak female in our house. Your sister will witness the price of failure on the flesh of her own daughter. Such is the will of Lolth" was the answer from the sitting drow woman.

Auluniira was able to do nothing, but stare as the blade ripped through the tender flesh of the creature wailing on the altar. She wished to look away, to put her hands over her ears, but she couldn't even think properly, almost completely wrapped in the oblivion. The powerful voice of her mother, chanting praises to Lolth was the only feeling she had about the real world, everything else was losing any meaning, till the little drow child stopped her cries. "Look sister, stare at the shame you casted upon us. The Spider Queen asking for the very blood of our family to quench her rage… Due to your last failure at the academy, the teachers asked our mother to send us on next surface raid. You know how dangerous it is to travel across the underdark... if our patrol should meet a fatal danger, our house will have no female daughters left. You're a disgrace to us all, you had to be the victim of this sacrifice!", Alaissindhara's words merely made it to the conscience of her sister, who kept staring blankly at the altar for a long time...

The moon was high in the sky and the clouds almost covering it completely gave the small army of drows a relief from its light, making it a perfect environment for them. Like silent shadows melting with the darkness of the forest, the drow patrol reached the elven settlement, finding most of surface elves asleep or into deep reverie. Making a quick job of the sentinels, the mercyless dark army started its massacre, dishing a terrible and painful death to any elf who was so unfortunate to wake up during the assault. Alaissindhara was in an ecstatic state, calling forth the power of Lolth to wound and torture her victims, finishing them with powerful blows of her heavy mace, delighted by the sound of their cracking bones. Auluniira almost vomited at the sight of the blood spraying all over her from the wound a comrade opened in the stomach of the elf that was trying to lunge in her back. In that furious whirling of blades she was barely able to defend herself and when an arrow pierced her left arm, she fell inside a tent, screaming in agony. A female elf was now confronting her, her face a grimace of desperate anger, while bare fists tried to punch the drow several times, hitting nothing, but the solid rings of the chain mail. When Alaissindhara entered the tent, the surface elf assaulted her, biting her hand like a rabid dog. The priestess just grunted, slighlty bothered, hitting the elven girl's jaw by the hilt of her mace, sending her to lay prone tasting her own blood.
"Look sister, you and this surface filth have a lot in common. You're both weak and desperate… and more trained in bed than in the ways of battle" said the newcomer nodding towards the male elf laying dead on the ground. "The weak shall perish and her blood shall make the predator stronger. Such is the law of the Spider Queen, dear sister. And tonight she's truely smiling to me: look at her glory while I bathe in the blood of my enemies, look at her glory while I affirm my righteous ruling on my household" she said, lowering her mace on her own sister, smiling as it thumped loudly against the armor, probably breaking a couple of ribs under it. Auluniira just closed her eyes, awaiting for the next blow, wishing for her own death to come quick, but the surface elf sprung standing again, taking advantage of Ala's diverted focus, forcing her to get defensive and to use her mace to parry a dagger aiming to her throat.
"Filthy rabid bitch, I shall feed your head to my lizard..." she cried, just before noticing the little creature the moon elf was trying to hide. The standing drow bursted out in a maniacal laughter "Fool! You should have stayed down and live another day. You won't save your child and you won't save yourself!" this time was Ala's turn to counterattack and the young elf had no chance to survive when the mace dropped on her head with an obscene cracking sound. "And now we have to set some family busin..." the bloodthirsty drow exhaled sharply, her words died in her throat while her lungs were quickly filling with blood. She just had time to turn and see her sister sinking a sword deep between her ribs, spitting her last words with the little air still left in her lungs "...fool... never... give your back... to...". "Especially to your family members... sister... such is the law of the Spider Queen..." grunted Auluniira while her sister's body was limping to the floor like a empty sack. With the arrow stuck too deeply in her flesh to remove it and her sight starting to diminishing from the blood loss, Auluniira crawled to the corner of the tent, following the high pitched wails. Dark brown eyes were looking at her through strands of silver hair, the baby surface elf was about the age of her own daughter when she was killed. With her left arm falling limp at her side, she used the right one to hold the baby elf to her breast, while tears started to wet her eyes. The baby calmed down and even smiled at her, while Auluniira found herself smiling, whispering to that small helpless creature she was now helding protectively "Drisinil will be your name...". She was still a priestess of Lolth and the bitter taste of tears, even bitterer than the feeling of failure, made her wonder what was happening to her. But she had no time to think, the world around her was blurred now and the last thing she was able to hear was the sound of several horns covering those of the still raging battle.
