Jerrick asks about for Dwin and Mord

  • Jerrick is seen about Norwick after the tremendous two sided town attack on Norwick, shortly after returning from chasing off the straggling goblins with a couple Legionnaires and others.

He let's Selene and Gemli know, as well as anyone else of concern in Norwick that if they see either of those two, he needs to speak with them immediately, on urgent business concerning the town's interests.

  • Dwin seems to steaidly relax as he listens. At the end, he sighs and runs his hand over his bald dome, apparently exhausted with all of the ecent activity.

Just explain to them that most ars could be avoided if people actually SPOKE, and that I am always one to listen–and speak. I am fine with you being our one-and-only go between, but relations would be further improved and trust greatly improved if they spoke directly to us.

  • Jerrick takes the offended Chancellor aside and speaks plainly, but being polite. He does not make any apologies or bow or scrape, but merely restates a fact.

_Dwin, I don't mean to be offensive here, but I'm relaying a message from the other circle. These are facts, Dwin, plain and simple.

I'm not hand slapping you and you know it. I'm not threatening you with another war, but instead letting you know what the other circle told me.
It's unfortunate we were all misled, but the fact that there was a standing order in the first place to kill any Hinnak on sight sort of made that opening possible, which is unfortunate.

I hope you don't mistake me as being anything other than an ally in this and ALL things, especially since we have these common foes, but I won't bow and scrape and be a general idiot for anyone Dwin. The other circle gave a clear impression that that felt Norwick has a strong dislike to them, and that they feel this sort of thing might have happened regardless of any trickery.

Before you get angry, I DID tell them otherwise, and assured them that You and Norwick have no such plans or hostilities to them, but they still don't trust that you will not attack them if given an oppurtunity.

Again I tried to convince them otherwise, but for the duration that this distrust exists, it's best if there's mediation between you both, Norwich and the other circle.

That's where I come in. I don't pretend to have power here, and I don't hold any illusions that you're forced to listen to anything I have to say. The truth is, however, that I'm basically going to be the ambassador for the other circle, and hopefully prevent any other problems.

As for whoever performed this trickery, there's no telling. For now, if you hear any kind of message from the other circle, and it doesn't come from MY mouth to YOUR ears, I would ignore it.

They have been told the same thing. That should help for now while we dig into what happened before, and who is the cause of it.

Please tell Mord my thanks for rescinding the kill order, I will go and inform our allies to the south and see what I can do on their end to make them more identifiable to us. It does however, stand to remember that ANYTHING can be duplicated. Colors, sounds, passphrases can be copied, imitated, and leaked, so the "If they don't attack, don't attack" suggestion Mord phrased will do for now on their side, I believe.

Any message you'd like me to pass along before I go?_

  • Mord grinds his teeth when he gets word of Dwin's summons and spends 15 minutes redoing trainee schedules before he heads of to the Chancellor's office

As for the standing order on the hinnak, that has been recinded to the pooint that the Militia will nay attack on site and only if threatened. Part of the gate inspections of all incoming traffic will reflect the information on what to look for in identifying one hinnak tribe from another.

  • Dwin asks Mord for a private meeting with just him and this recruit who seems to think he is now in a position to offer advice like this to the Lord Chancellor.

The assumption is that it is not a meeting to offer any medals.

  • (Posted by the campfire) _This be my opinion of what should happen: There be three courses we of Norwick must undertake: The first is to mend any breaches with friendly Hin whom are rightly angry by the slaying of their kin. Right or wrong, t'is Norwick's deed, and we are responsible. The second is to seek the truth as to how such a heinous act could happen, and punish those that are responsible. The third is to strengthen our alliances with our allies and possibly seek other alliances, for if we go to war against the Bugbear, many Norwick citizens, if not the entire realm shall surely suffer greatly. I am strongly opposed to war with the Hin, and believe that the Bugbear are the true enemy.

Regarding these issues Dietrick informs Norwick on certain points.

The snake tong have decided to war Norwick on claims that Norwick supposedly raided their camp to the south. Towards this Dietrick makes known he has no association to this tribe of hinnaks and he is simply informing Norwick.

As for the thunder tong, Dietrick informs that he had already presented the evidences and the thunder tong council will review it for themselves. He states they do make a point however that Norwick had a "kill all hinnaks on sight" stand when the incident happened and the deaths of their people had occurred, deaths that cannot be reversed. Dietrick suggests an apology to them by Norwick since Norwick is partly responsible for the "accident" and precious lives have been lost.

  • I dont like the tone of this at all, nor do I like the threat of war, or the implication that we do not know our foes. As Lord Chancellor of this land, I deserve a bit more respect than this.

We were misled, obviously and deviously. Hinnak died as a result. Tis sad, but its what happens in war.

Now, instead of trying to hand-slap us or threaten us with an additional war, why not find out who was behind this treachery in the first place?

So, lets try this again. I'll giv eyou a chance to reset this conversation and start over. This time, perhaps you should start with more of a feeling of alliance against a common foe than of threats against an ally who was misled.

  • When Jerrick comes across either of the two, he explains what he needed to say.

_I need to firstly speak with you about the standing order to kill any Hinnak on sight.

The relations with the other druid circle are now non-existant due to the recent slaughter of Hinnak that had been mistakenly lured to Norwick for a false meeting (Speak to Aramuil for details about the forged letter) and it worsened already strained relations to the point that the other circle no longer wishes to treat with Norwick in any way.

All communication will henceforth go through Me, or failing that, any other circle elder, or the archdruid himself.

This is to prevent any further misunderstandings or hostilities between the other circle and Norwick, and avoid another war on top of the current one… especially since that was likely what the forged letter was trying to incite.

As for the Hinnak thing, I will be more than happy to help the Militia learn how to differentiate between the two local tribes of Hinnak, to avoid another misguided slaughter like the last. If a militia cannot differentiate between their foes, then something seriously needs to be done, but I'm sure this was all just a misunderstanding._

  • Likewise returning from a tour of both battlegrounds, Dwin is informed of the message…

  • Arriving back from overseeing the damage at the North gates, Mord speaks to Selena and gets the message
