::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • Jerrick has been seen more and more about Peltarch, almost odd for a druid, unless you know better.

He has been seen going so far as to water marty's plant with a quiet spell, praying over it, and uttering blessings for it's health and protection.

A lady some know as Aspera Chillwind, and others know as a woman of frosty disposition was seen complaining about the plant, and then tossing insults in Jerrick's direction, and contemplating the plant's demise loudly.

Since then a large hawk has taken up a perch nearby the plant often, up on a nearby roof or tree.

  • Word spreads of an attack on a travelling merchant outside Peltarch.

A burning cart was found, laden with goods. No bodies or identification could be found.

The family of the merchant are being encouraged to come forward and head to the Mortuary in the Docks district, where Micah Shilon, the apprentice Mortician is working. Apparently he came across the cart with another adventurer and would like to help the family if he can.

    @88de7d5f4b=v_black:

It's said that some powerful demon or extraplanar creature attacked travellers in the pass. First appearing quite nice, until one of the travellers gave offence. Or so the story is told by some. Other say said being strode and attacked anything in reach, lightning almost incinerating a couple of people that stood nearby. Whether that's just a really unfortunate experience, or whether the people were lucky to escape with their lives, or if it was all just a bad nightmare… who knows? It's definitely not as important as a riot in the streets of Peltarch herself.

Grak is spending time (and money) at locall inn, where two human wenches keep him company by listening his tales and providing him massage

"Aye, Grak should have reward, since Grak's hawk-eyes were first one to spot this vile beast and its minions roaming at the pass. Also by help of Graks strong and swift feet, Grak was able to alert huuuumie guards at the tower which caused this beast to skulk back to its hiding place.

Eyes squint as Grak looks around and speaks bit louder
"Speaking of that beast, before mindless assault, dem fiend disquised itself as a pointy ear. So, Grak advices ya all travellers: watch who ya walk with, especially when pointy ears are concerned. Enough trouble of dem already in that small town"

"If Grak would be captain of the guard, Grak would have only one standing order: If gots pointy ears, no business inside gates. Oi female, Did Grak say to stop massaging?!"

Perceptive people may notice that tiny tree planted the in common by the city's halfling gardener has begun to grow.

  • _Word goes around of a riot in the docks, staged by an elven mage that seems to be tired of the treatment the tent city dwarves and elves receive after his arrest a few days prior. The speech he was delivering turned into a battle as humans threw stones, then an elf retaliated with a thrown dagger, almost killing one of the humans.

A large group of adventurers and guard watched the whole thing unfold, finally the guard tossed in gas bombs to disperse the crowd, catching a few of the innocent adventurers in the cross-fire and arrested one human and one elf in the end. The elven mage seemed to disappear at this time._

  • _The trial of Lycka Zomasdottir was held recently, the charge against the young bard a grave one, namely the murder of the Bardic College receptionist miss Annika Thern. Though a striking number of witnesses on both sides were either absent or had been disqualified, the verdict from Magistrate Greywing was clear and decisive. The defendant was found innocent and the sole witness for the prosecution, a miss Annabelle Thern, is now held in custody for questioning of several inconsistancies in her story. Furthermore, the murder investigation has been reopened in the case of Annika Thern.

A visibly relieved Lycka could be observed leaving the courtroom in the company of her husband and friends, stopping only briefly to trade a few choice comments with a party of Seafarers who had gathered outside._

  • The Halfling Defence League

A pale skinned elf has been seen spending her time siting on one of the benches in Peltarch, she wears black clerics robe and when approached becomes quite nervous, yet is polite, like a well trained slave and her light accent would suggest she spent a lot of time around the drow. She also has been seen exiting the town to the west to practice the arcane arts, or shooting kobold runts with her crossbow. Of note there is a copper coloured manacle like bracelet on her left wrist.

Rumours that she is an escaped slave or worse fly thick on loose tongues…

  • _Rumour has it the body of a woman was recently found on Bard Street, the stench of the decaying corpse alerting a passer-by to the gruesome sight. Shortly thereafter, the young white-haired bard Lycka was escorted to the jail by Defender Captain Velhar. Onlookers might have been surprised to hear that the seemingly harmless singer was in fact arrested for the murder of one Annika Thern, the receptionist at the Bardic College. Certainly the former Senator and master bard Eowiel was more than a little upset at the news, arguing the preposterous nature of the arrest so forcibly that she herself was locked up by Lisa, facing a jail sentence of three days.

Lycka herself could be spotted leaving the jails some time later, in the company of fellow bard Adlanail, the red-robed monk Yu Shei, pretty-boy sorceror Ronan and her pink-plated husband, Aelthas. Rumours continue to buzz however, as it seems the murder investigation is still ongoing and suspicions of guilt remain on Lycka's shoulders.

In further gossip, it is said that one of the guards at the southern gates attacked and tried to abduct the pretty, redheaded Cerulean knight Serenity, reportedly driven mad with desire for the young woman. The deranged guardsman jumped into the nearest sewer entrance, carrying the unconscious Cerulean over his shoulder, but was soon forcibly stopped by the persuing party. His lifeless body was then carried to the temple of Tyr by Aelthas and Yu Shei, Lycka following closely with a bruised and shaken Serenity in tow._

//a little late in posting and probably forgetting some participants, apologies for that, and kudos to Caoimh for making Peltarch an exciting place to spend one's time IG!

  • A group of very finely dressed young men with scraggly beards and capes adorned with huge golden "B"s are ruffling feathers in the Civic District. They generally seem to frequent the area in and around the Temple, posing and smoking cigars. Passing nobles, or in particular members of the Seafarers Guild are liable to get cigar smoke puffed in their faces and a short witty jab. The group seems to be only growing in popularilty amongst young noblemen and merchants report cigars are in high demand and are becomming something of a scarcity.

  • A small spat in the commons between groups of Seafarers and Wavebreakers was diffused by concerned citizens in the absence of the usual guards. Both groups apparently accusing the other of criminal damage of one sort or another.

On investigation a defaced warehouse and vandalized ship seemed to be the source of the dispute though the strange thing was splotches from the paint on the defaced warehouse were found leading to the vandalized ship.
Were they just messy or did one group do both to deflect the blame ? Or perhaps some outside agency is trying to promote a dispute ? The rumours fly. Accusations run wild. So much so that stories emerge of a Red and Black clothed group from the sewers being involved.

  • Rumors of vandalized buildings and small theft occurring during the night in the Docks District increase recently. Guard presence is slightly more noticeable in the district, but the vandals seem hard to predict with no real pattern. Seafarer, Wavebreaker, and free-worker sights have all been hit.

Additionally, two final ships arrived carrying a number of humans, elves, and dwarves into the city. The dockmaster was over heard talking to the captains, hearing these were the last large grouping from across the Sea of Fallen Stars that had purchased a ferry to the city.

*Folks passing by the commons may have spotted Martoushca planting a tiny tree. After fussing over it for a while, she hammers some stakes around it in a circle and paints the stakes white. She also sprinkles a circle of ash around its base, uttering some kind of prayer - or perhaps the words of some druidic spell. *

  • ::To the east in the flat plains, with soil to poor to farm, something is being constructed. A series of what looks like fences with ..stands overlooking them? Whatever is underway many defender horsemen are seen in the area, practicing their skills.::

  • It seems the two great drums are finished in the hills above the City. What Ocean and her tribal visitors plan to do with them is uncertain but it seems hopeful that the rhythmic drumming fromt he College will move up there and people who work Night Shifts will get more sleep.

  • A dark clad man sits having his usual wine as the rumours of Eowel's resignation reach the taverna.

He can be heard saying… hmm but that leaves an opening for that Peltarch Defender, Knight Mec. He seems to be fitting the description quite well.

  • Word spreads out from the Civic district that Eowiel Senella has, rather out of the blue, resigned from the Senate, accusing her fellow Senators of being corrupt, useless old men and finding herself unable to work with them any further.

  • Pulling a cart loaded with several armors, weapons and other equipment of roughly the same appearance, Dentin was spotted heading into the docks, buying a number of crates and loading the equipment into said crates. He then searched until he found a certain ship, paying the captain to apparantly transport the crates to its destination, as well as carry a letter to go along with said crates.

  • Not only do the hobgoblin forces seem thick as thieves on the road south, but other thieves also seem to accost travellers of late. One such highwayman was recently delivered to the Peltarch guards by two women. Judging by the man's bruised and unconscious state, he chose his intended victims quite poorly.

  • _It is said that the funeral of reclusive nobleman Mikhail von Ulgath was held at the temple of Tyr recently, the eulogy lead by his son, the young and reportedly handsome Johnathan von Ulgath. Despite the deceased solitary habits, the turnout was quite good, the crowd consisting mainly of other nobles and a sizable number of assorted adventurers. Standing out in particular was perhaps the small contingent of Rashemi tribal warriors, come to pay their respect to the once great fighter.

Derisive and sneering comments were reportedly made by certain of the noble families present after Johnathan von Ulgath's short but moving speech, while the manager of the Lucky Ferret Inn, ms Sabre Seesaw, spoke far more favourably of the fallen. A funeral parade was then held from the temple to the mortuary, where Mikhail von Ulgath's remains were to be cremated, according to his last wishes.

In other news, hobgoblin forces recently launched an attack on the city, only to be swiftly and forcefully repelled by the combined might of Peltarch defenders and adventurers. It is said that a hobgoblin leader was later slain by a group who ventured into their lair._
