::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::
-
Rumors in the inn talk of burning rocks falling from the sky near the watchtower. A short while later by all accounts a walking tree ran into the city and was quickly… killed? chopped? whatever it wasn't moving anymore. Some folks make signs against an evil eye. Who ever heard of a walking tree in the jewel of the Icelace anyway.

_Tales of disaster and heroism spread through Peltarch. The lliiran caravan was said to have been captured by kobolds and later saved by a band of heroes and a lliiran dwarf. The planned party proceeded, granted a bit late, despite it all and the dwarf was knighted and the heroes thanked. The Lliiran priest was heard to proclaim that henceforth in the greater Northern Reachers, Lliiran's would remember that day officially as "Sir Patrick's Day".
Must revelry was had by those at the festhall that night, as the Lliiran's produced the relics they were transporting…unique and/or magical holy brews...and shared them with those in attendence. They ended the night and left the land with a promise that thanks to such hospitality by Peltarch they will be stopping through on their annual trade routes, to sell their brews and re-use the grand Peltarchan festhall._

Ocean seems excited at the news and immediately drags Leanna off to make sure Eowiel knows.
-
Word about the streets of Peltarch is that a small delegation of the Lliiran faith is set to pass through Peltarch on its way from the Great Dale to Damara. The caretakers of the Mermaid have been hurriedly preparing their finest rooms for them and there is rumors that some kind of party may be thrown in the festhall in the coming tendays.

A snow white elf wearing the talisman of Auril was seen coming back with the group of adventurer that took part in the sea adventures. Obviously calm and focus she hears all the gossips spreaded about how the others did everything without her with a slight smirk.
-
Adrian is quick to deny his involvement in the floating ship, and any events afterwards, quoting that he had the common sense to run for the shore when the dock collapsed.

A small paper is seen being submitted to various guards and guard organizations in Peltarch, though one seems to have been left on the ground on accident:
Contact Report
On <insert fr="" date="" here="">, a group of travelers investigated the disruption of shipping in the port, after hearing of multiple ships disappearing. Upon arriving, they were accosted by a small group of Kuo-Toa, who proceeded to dive into the water. Soon after, strong magic caused a large portion of the dock to rot away, setting a boat adrift with the group inside. Within, they found no cargo, but there were five dead men below decks who had been probably stabbed, and dead for a short time.
After the ship drifted, or was pulled as the travelers claim, it struck aground below the cliff just outside the Giantspire Foothills. In the process, several ogres and trolls were seen on the cliff, watching. After running aground, the travelers headed to Peltarch through the foothills, but in the process found a large group of dead bodies washed up on the shore, their throats raggedly cut and some bearing manacle marks.
A trail of blood ran from the shore over the wall to a small shrine where a portal had previously been seen. The portal was suspected to have been empowered with blood magic; it's magic had faded within the day. However, an attempt was made to re-open the portal from the other side. The travelers disrupted the ritual, and the portal explosively failed, leaving only a small rising column of bubbles in it's place.
AFFIDAVIT: I claim that in all regards this report is true and factual, and is corroborated by the following parties:
Sabre Seesaw, Blacksails Lieutenant
Tsu Ma, Leader of the Order of the Second Shadow
Felix Aurelius, cleric of Tempus
Adrian "Silverbolt" Petrarch, paladin of Milil</insert>

Two excited young women in gypsy colours were recently spotted running up to the defender tower at the gates to the foothills, exclaiming loudly that there was a -portal- nearby, leading to just outside the Kuo Tua caves! The portal could perhaps be used by the evil fishmen to attack the city, the young women warned, or it could even have been set up by the mythical GILLANTS! What the latter creatures really are was never fully explained, as the women grew even more excited at that point and dashed off to continue the search for the gillants.
//yes, I know the portal must have been left there from some other event, but since there is no rumour of that anywhere, I'm taking the liberty to have Lycka and Asha create their own theories. ^^

_One fine sunny afternoon, the sorcerer known as Ronan is seen walking into the commons of Peltarch, hand-in-hand with the lovely red haired bard known as Mareann.
Though something is odd about the way Ronan looks. His hair is completely messed up, all frizzy and full of knots. Few even recognize him at first. When they do and approach him to ask what happened, he simply says, "A dare."
Mareann, on the other hand, seems to still look like her fantastic self, all the while she is giggling and laughing at Ronan's look._

Those who travel the pass to Norwick in recent days have been accosted by an increase in the number, and violence of the hobgoblins that have been inhabiting it since time immemorial.
They ALSO would have noticed a large figure in black and blue armor, cutting a swathe through those same hobgoblins, swearing and laying about with his sword.
After a week's solid effort, with a mound of corpses piled quite high, he snorts in derision, grabs a large sack full of armor and shields, and heads off for other adventure.
As he leaves, he can be heard muttering
"Dem fuggin hobgoblins, dey never learns. Me kills a hundred of dem, and dey still keep comin"

During her off time, Celestria can be found at the libraries asking for all information they have on soul stones. Her appearance shows she's tired but she remains her usual, friendly self. She studies for hours on the topic, reading everything she can find on it.

A tavern-girl from the Pissing Goat spreads word of her having seen a man attired in purple and gold doing what she can only describe as robbing a ship in the docks - but robbing it of paper. The tale turns stranger still when she explains that the same man later saved her from a group of drunken patrons outside the Goat who were "only looking for a good time." She describes the man as being "very dashing," though she claims he was masked.

While it is a well-known and expected occurrence that Senator Rath Ashald may disappear from time to time whilst indulging his fancies - whatever they may be, his current absence seems to be unusual in duration. This particular absence began just three days after the large-scale military action began in the city. His staff, when questioned, have no idea as to his whereabouts.
-
A young man usually dressed in leathers, carrying a yarting and goes by the name of Connar was seen asking after the defenders, enquiring with whom he may speak with about joining the military.
-
Some folks on the west side of town reported seeing a snake-like creature covered in bark walking on two feet. It travelled from the Nars pass, on the outskirts of town, and into kobold lands. It was followed to the outer west gate by several southerners and a couple of curious Peltarch citizens. The strange creature seemed to be having a conversation with them in the language of kobolds. After it headed west, someone was heard to murmur "yuan ti".

Word spreads along the vine about the birth of Dentin and Ty'Nezi's son, named Sebastian. Though some may smile, others may smirk, and yet others simply do not care, there is no denying that Dentin has been far more relaxed and easygoing than he has ever been before.. for Dentin's standards, at least.

_While others worry about extraplanar creatures assaulting the city of Peltarch, the everyday troubles of a young woman seem pale and boring in comparison. Though rumor has it that this very woman has been asking around for wolf-poachers and whether they are sanctioned or not. Often in her company outside the city walls is a wolf, but no longer a wild beast the animal walks with a stiff front leg and is often petted, or fed by the woman or her company. It's that wolf, that had gone missing and the wailing young woman screaming and begging three other adventurers to help her find the lost wolf.
In an adventure that's not going to be talk for years to come in the college, the band of four - or should it be a pack of four? - scouted the foothills, the suspected primarily hunting place for said wolf. Their adventurous trek took them deep into a cave, filled with kobolds and worse, and the tales they tell of the cruel, and ugly beast they encountered lairing in there, the mean and horrible hag that feasted on wolf-flesh, and some might suspect, men-flesh… and women flesh, was defeated by their hands, her kobold guards driven out of the cave.
A victorious expedition, even though those who listen closely might learn that they didn't find the wolf, in the end, but the wolf them. But this little detail seems utterly incapable of reaching through to the wolf's would be saviors. Their mood and spirits remained high as they travelled away from Peltarch to return another day._

_Word spreads around the Mermaid that a greater demon known as a Balor appeared within the walls of the city and started harrasing both Hedia, Mecizq and the guards present for the assault for some unknown reason. Apparantly the beast flew towards the south when they began to harm it, where it later struck at the watchtower, slaying all those present.
The beast was finally met and eventually slain near to the watchtower by a band of gathered adventurers consisting of Mecizq, Hedia Gend, Steelfin and Kara Du'Monte. The bodies of the fallen defenders were taken to their priests and tended afterwards._

It seems that, while no public announcement was ever made, a monumental military action was taken WITHIN the walls of Peltarch. The Docks District was cordoned off for hours. The barricade was comprised of both the Guard, lead by General Ash, and the Defenders under Captain Neverith.

Rumour has it that Aramuil Holimion, the elven mage, is looking to publish some research on a particular type of demon. He's been asking around Peltarch to see if he can find a publisher interested in paying him for such; supposedly it also contains the tale of how he orchestrated the beast's defeat.
