::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • A young man usually dressed in leathers, carrying a yarting and goes by the name of Connar was seen asking after the defenders, enquiring with whom he may speak with about joining the military.

  • Some folks on the west side of town reported seeing a snake-like creature covered in bark walking on two feet. It travelled from the Nars pass, on the outskirts of town, and into kobold lands. It was followed to the outer west gate by several southerners and a couple of curious Peltarch citizens. The strange creature seemed to be having a conversation with them in the language of kobolds. After it headed west, someone was heard to murmur "yuan ti".

  • Word spreads along the vine about the birth of Dentin and Ty'Nezi's son, named Sebastian. Though some may smile, others may smirk, and yet others simply do not care, there is no denying that Dentin has been far more relaxed and easygoing than he has ever been before.. for Dentin's standards, at least.

  • _While others worry about extraplanar creatures assaulting the city of Peltarch, the everyday troubles of a young woman seem pale and boring in comparison. Though rumor has it that this very woman has been asking around for wolf-poachers and whether they are sanctioned or not. Often in her company outside the city walls is a wolf, but no longer a wild beast the animal walks with a stiff front leg and is often petted, or fed by the woman or her company. It's that wolf, that had gone missing and the wailing young woman screaming and begging three other adventurers to help her find the lost wolf.

In an adventure that's not going to be talk for years to come in the college, the band of four - or should it be a pack of four? - scouted the foothills, the suspected primarily hunting place for said wolf. Their adventurous trek took them deep into a cave, filled with kobolds and worse, and the tales they tell of the cruel, and ugly beast they encountered lairing in there, the mean and horrible hag that feasted on wolf-flesh, and some might suspect, men-flesh… and women flesh, was defeated by their hands, her kobold guards driven out of the cave.

A victorious expedition, even though those who listen closely might learn that they didn't find the wolf, in the end, but the wolf them. But this little detail seems utterly incapable of reaching through to the wolf's would be saviors. Their mood and spirits remained high as they travelled away from Peltarch to return another day._

  • _Word spreads around the Mermaid that a greater demon known as a Balor appeared within the walls of the city and started harrasing both Hedia, Mecizq and the guards present for the assault for some unknown reason. Apparantly the beast flew towards the south when they began to harm it, where it later struck at the watchtower, slaying all those present.

The beast was finally met and eventually slain near to the watchtower by a band of gathered adventurers consisting of Mecizq, Hedia Gend, Steelfin and Kara Du'Monte. The bodies of the fallen defenders were taken to their priests and tended afterwards._

  • It seems that, while no public announcement was ever made, a monumental military action was taken WITHIN the walls of Peltarch. The Docks District was cordoned off for hours. The barricade was comprised of both the Guard, lead by General Ash, and the Defenders under Captain Neverith.

  • Rumour has it that Aramuil Holimion, the elven mage, is looking to publish some research on a particular type of demon. He's been asking around Peltarch to see if he can find a publisher interested in paying him for such; supposedly it also contains the tale of how he orchestrated the beast's defeat.

  • On hearing of how the case involving Dentin was decided, Senator Senella remarks "Ah, splendid. That is how the majority of judicial decisions were decided not too long ago after all, I was beginning to fear that we would end up having trials for trivial matters if we kept up the way we were going. Why, Magistrate Chillwind and Ko'voleth only held trials in the gravest of cases. I am glad to see the current Magistrates are not afraid to use their full judicial discretion, and thus not waste the people's hard earned taxes on expensive and unnecessary proceedings."

  • _Sentence was passed on Dentin, without trial or legal council, long before the captive even knew what he was charged with apparantly. Shannon chose to grace the prison with a brief visit, just long enough to give notice to the verdict of two months and a hefty fine, before vanishing again. There was not the least mention of a trial or even legal council troughout the interlude, yet the choice from the magistrate to ignore any and all please on the defendant's side has been noted.

He must have had better things to do._

  • ((my post duplicated, I deleteded this one))

  • *After a few days, of pulling books from shelves and reading them, Andrew is seen leaving Peltarch, only to return again after a day's time.

If watched, he now stands in the rows of books looking at the titles on every shelf seemingly searching for something. Row after row he tirelessly reads titles. Again he is found looking in all sections of the libraries, to include children's books as well. In between searches, he is found at the temple, either in prayer, or speaking with Lady Daisy*

((Please PM me if anything comes of his search 🙂 ))

  • While in Peltarch, Andrew can be seen entering the Temple of Tyr and staying for hours at a time. He is also seen entering libraries, and other places which house information or books on past battles, demons and battle tactics. He is occasionally seen standing in the row of books titled Fairytales.

  • _Rumour has it that the Gondar priest Dentin Strauss has been arrested and jailed after a scuffle with the Peltarch guards. The famed Peltarchian beauty Rose Hollowmoon's name is mentioned in connection with this, though the details regarding the event are still sketchy amongst the regular gossips at the Mermaid.

Another topic of conversation is the frightful and inexplicable appearance of a powerful bugbear warrior in the middle of the commons not long ago. The beast, though quickly slain, interrupted an otherwise calm evening of commerce as the so called Pink Merchant of the gypsy camp, Aelthas Benthur, was displaying a fine selection of scrolls to various prominent citizens, including Senators Eowiel Senella and Evendur Mildsilver._

  • One eve after duty in Norwick, Andrew ventured to Peltarch entering the Temple of Tyr. He spoke at length with Daisy. After much discussion, Daisy cast several spells and then the discussions continued. When they finished speaking, he thanked Daisy greatly. He then went to the altar and was seen praying quietly for quite some time. Once his prayers were finished, he left Peltarch and returned to Norwick.

  • A small group of adventurers led by Mecizq was recently seen coming into Peltarch. ((Last night)). Two bodies were being carried and they went into the Temple of Tyr. Rumor states that they were originally headed into Ormpyr, ((sp?)) into a catacomb, searching for a journal which the Order of the Divine Shield wished to retrieve.

The adventurers in the group were Celestria, Thorn, Mec, Mora, William Morrison, Juster and Andrew Tormier. ((I hope I did not miss anyone)) It is spoken that Mec and William traveled to Norwick to ask Celestria and Andrew to help in the recovery effort. Adding additional resources along the way, the group traveled through Jiyyd on onward to their destination.

After a long and arduous journey, the journal was recovered along with the paladin’s body, his belongings and one other body. The Paladin’s body was to be returned to its home and his belongings given to the adventurers as a finder’s fee with a stipulation that it could be needed to be returned in the future for unforeseen reasons. The other body was left at the temple as well.

Many creatures were fought and all members of the party contributed the successful venture. No party member’s lives were lost due to the exceptional healing efforts and the team’s ability to work together.

There is also mention of a rusted sword that was stated to have helped a party member find his way to the group. Rumor also states that conversations between him and the sword, although one sided were heard throughout the trip. The sword in question and the party member were deemed free of evil by Lady Daisy at the temple and were allowed to continue to travel together.

After the mission was complete, the paladin’s belongings were divided and the group split up. Andrew, Celestria and Mec could be seen heading into the crafter’s building ((not certain of the name)), reportedly to see if the armor Andrew acquired fit properly.

((I hope I have this right, if I left anyone or anything important out, please feel free to add to it. I am not certain which DM’s were involved other than Dora, but thank you to the DM/s for the fun and adventure. Not overwhelming, but action packed.))

  • _Something seems to have gotten the lizards riled up, as a number of them were seen in the near the Ridge in the pass.

Whatever it was, the lizards seem to have stopped and returned home once they ran into the hobgoblins._

  • The white haired warrior Winter, makes no secret of her desire to find the appropriate Officer of the Peltarch Guards and sign up for duty.

  • The so-called Holy Tree of Azuth to the west of the city has ceased glowing for the first time in three years.

  • _A lively and merry conversation could be overheard at the Mermaid recently, as smooth-talking lawyer Reynard Alessandro shared a bottle or wine or three with the two pretty sisters Asha and Lycka. Discussions of gentlemanly behavior and burping contests aside, the main topic at the table seemed to be the recent spectacular events regarding Senator Evendur Mildsilver and the apparitions at the commons. With wide, excited gestures and in a dramatic tone, the young bardic apprentice Lycka told the tale of the heroic rescue of the senator from the clutches of an evil mage, and how this most vile villain has now sworn vengeance on the city for foiling his plans!

According to Lycka, it all started with yet another apparition at the commons, this time interrupted by a not so ghostly figure of a man who magically appeared and dispelled the vision. The man told the adventurers present to head to the city hall at once if they wanted to catch the person responsible for these apparitions. A ragtag crew headed off, prominent figures such as Magistrate D'Arneau, Cerulean Knight Serenity and flashy mage Ronan leading the pack. Once there, a room to room search eventually revealed none other than Evendur Mildsilver's surly clerk lying unconscious on the floor in one of the senate apartment rooms, a large mirror infront of him and magic filling the air.

After investigation and deliberation, the group insisted on meeting with the elusive senator himself, though the now awakened clerk stalled and tried to protest. When the magistrate threatened a warrant, the grumpy man finally agreed, but once more his reluctance made the group suspicious. The dramatic revelation soon followed - the harmless looking clerk was in fact a powerful and sinister mage, who teleported away before the heroes could stop him!

The group hurried to Mildsilver's apartment, there meeting his grandfather who explained that Evendur had been held captive by the wicked mage, but now was their chance to save him. Breaking down doors and bypassing wards and traps, they eventually found the senator encased in magic, immobile and unresponsive. With the combined efforts of Ronan, Shannon and Mildsilver the older, Evendur was pulled free of his magical prison and carried in a rush through the streets of Peltarch by Lycka and Reynard, to the holy tree of Azuth.

The tree grew agitated as the group came closer, but Mildsilver carried his grandson towards the tree while lightning struck and thunder shook the earth. When the dust settled, an unconscious but alive senator was transported off to safety through magical means as both Mildsilver men disappeared into thin air. The evil villain arrived not long after, none too pleased at having his prisoner gone. He claimed to have created the apparitions to amuse himself and pass the time while waiting for his plans to come into fruition, but also to teach people lessons - not that they ever learnt, he added bitterly. Spouting terrible threats against the city, the mage then vanished once more.._

//a rather detailed rumour, since the post-event talk actually took place in the Mermaid. Thanks to DM Paradox and all participants for a fun and interesting time 🙂

  • Due to the thinning guard numbers as a result of the night attacks, Guard General Marcus Ash has stepped up recruitment efforts immensely. While the other Guard Captains seem displeased with the demeanor of his choices - particularly Captain Fortescue - they are unable to argue the skills of the new recruits. Training sessions press long into the night.

Additionally, Senator Torin Bravickus has publicly announced that his personal residence was broken into. His claims that he chased off the intruder are still widely disputed - or laughed at - amongst the members rumor mill, but one thing remains clear - his description of the intruder - a man attired in purple and gold regalia, bearing uncanny resemblance to a figure sighted in the docks, also rumored to be related to a number of murders.

Finally, another uncharacteristic meeting occurred recently - between the flippant Senator Rath Ashald and Wavebreaker Captain Hardin. They were seen headed for the Three-legged Mule Pub. What was discussed between the two remains a matter of great speculation.
