Recruit Trainining with Colonel Mord Cabro

  • _At the end of an attack by dretches, winged horrors and tainted goblins, Celestria stood with the group that defended the area south of Norwick. Colonel Mord joined the group and learned what had taken place. Upon his arrival, she greeted him as usual though did not receive his usual reply[i/]

    "Guardsman,"

_he greeted her with the single word. The word rang through her head a few times as it slowly sank in. A smile took her eyes traveling to her lips. Certainly pride was seen in her expession as barely a whisper escaped her,[i/]

"I made it. Thank you, Torm."__

  • The Halfling Defence League

A muscular hin with a sword as big as him strapped on his back is seen moving into the barracks and sleeping there every night recently. During day , he practices the drills with the other recruit frevently with great enthusiasm and what could be seen as pure joy. Apparently he is newly recruited after an attack by strange demons and such at the south gates. Most will know him as Dietrick for those who stay in the same barrack.

  • Celestria stands silently while the others are dismissed. Her stance is stoic yet her eyes show signs of nervousness. She watches the others leave, her gaze turning questioningly to Jaya then back to Mord as he approaches them. She draws a deep breath and releases it slowly, awaiting what he has to say.

((Will wait for IG interaction then post here))

  • _The new recurits are seen getting settled in to there bunks and are given what gear they need. After a hour or so of rest they are quickly called to do drill upon drill ranging from frontline fighting to ranged attacks to sprinting up the hills in full armor.

Early next morning the drills are finally done and the new recurits are told to get some chow and rest up for the next day. Recurit Alastor can be seen hitting his bed a nearly passing out right there on the spot._

  • Several more recruits are added to the rolls and show up at dawn for training. - Recruit: Raxia Steel and Recruit: Alastor Kross are put in wiht the older trainees. Mord introduces them during morning call and also pulls trainees Celestria and Jaya aside when the rest are dismissed. ((I will try and catch you two in game))

(( OOC Below are the missing in action, I think.

    • Recruit: Tyler Wefneran think I saw him in game the other day but no posts.
    • Recruit: Derin Blackmoor I have seen nothing of this one, Possible dead and gone
    • Recruit: Morgul I have seen nothing of this one, let me know.
    • Recruit: Roger Cutham I know him in RL and he plays mostly on another site. I will talk to him and most likely drop him.))

    Thanks,
    Darkspyr

  • Mord chuckles softly then shrugs That may git their blood a flowin….mayhap too freely. But, tis yer call, just keep an eye on em, they should be smart enough to retreat ifn they must.

  • Aye s'pose so. What kinda excitement ye be wantin? I could go over to the bugbear camp and invite em over for some wargames grins

  • Mord catches the shout and the beginning of the commotion and smiles thinly as he continues North.

As he approaches the town he spots Cyrian near the south gates an heads over

Lieutenant. Seems our trainees and new guardsman have made a comfortable camp near the old ruins. Their orders are to remain there fer the next 6 days er so. Think ye could stir up a little excitement down that way fer em? Nay want em to git too comfortable.

  • The warning was heard for a distance in the still night air.

    "AT ARMS! GOBS!!"

_A few moments of chaos and mingled voices followed as the recruits gathered their weapons tiredly and prepared to defend themselves and slay the goblins.

Having fought at Elyl's side before, Celestria took a place in the center between the front lines and the rear. She cast light to ensure they could see what they were up against. A dozen or so goblins. Fighting ensued, screams of pain and death, battle cries to various Gods, weapons gleaming in streaking patterns as they were flung about in battle. Limbs and blood strewn across the area, heavy breathing and cries of anger rang through the night air.

They fought bravely, with a vengeance, the front lines taking the brunt of the beatings. Nasty cuts and gashes, flesh hanging in places. She kept them healed as best she could and inbetween, helped slay the vile creatures. When all fell quiet, each one looked about cautiously to ensure no goblins were missed, then looked to each other to ensure all were still standing. Indeed they were, though haggard and tired._

"Pick up their gear! No sense leaving it here for them to gather and use again!"

She was not sure who spoke, though she and the others went to gathering the gear. Decent weapons and armor were kept for selling. Items broken or torn in battle were burned.

"Where did they come from? Seem to come from nowhere!"

One recruit questioned. The following conversation gave various theories of why the goblins were out there until all finally fell quiet in the small, makeshift camp.

  • Dwalin has passed most of his time at barracs, studying about defenses tactics. He is very intersted in dwarven defenders way of fight and judge that its very intersting to defend Norwick walls.

OCC: sorry guys, the next 2 weeks i will be studying. I dont have time for IG or forum. Be back
    Adilson

  • Mord appears in the dead of a dark cloudy night in dark leather armor and studies the camp and makeshift barricade. He slips around south through the rotted east wall and finds a small goblin patrol. It is simple to rile them up and heard them north to the makeshift outpost and he then dissapeares north through the ruins.

  • Ivor grunts in response to hearing about how cooking assistant punishment is not that bad.

Oh lassie, it nay jus' be cookin'… it be all 'boot killin' 'n' guttin' tae animals too... preppin' 'em fer cookin'... peelin' taters... 'n' gatherin' firewood. 'n' if ya in real deep shoite, ye gutta prep wotever -I- feel loike eatin', which thar be no limits 'un that.

Ivor then grins, before making his way back to file a report, mumbling something about needing magical arrows, leaving Elyl to run the training all proper.

  • _The hill was difficult to ascend at best. The ground was muddy and slick causing her to lose her footing more than once. By the time she reached the top the first time, she was covered in mud. Walking up such a hill in armor was certainly not an easy task, though the hardest task still lie ahead.

Her eyes scanned the rock and wood assessingly. She determined quickly that her strength alone would not be enough to carry most of them. Tying her hair back, something she rarely does, and calling for Torm's blessing of strength, she headed into the task.

Rocks went first to make an easier path for the logs. Grunts and an occasional curse was heard from various recruits. They worked together in pairs for the large rocks, often slipping off balance as they trudged downhill with them.

Breathing hard after reaching the bottom of the hill after several trips, she looked up to the other recruits,_

"Perhaps if we were to drag a large log down first, it would cut a path down the hill that the rocks could be rolled down? Seems it would be much more efficient and less time consuming."

She awaited their response, using the time to ascend the muddy hill yet again.

  • _She listens intently to Ivor, nodding on occasion then turns her attentions to Elyl, listening to him as well. Her mind never ceases, always wandering through the various aspects of what people speak about, things that most would never even consider.

Upon Elyl's command for them she smirks slightly, recalling a trip with Ivor and a man just beginning his training against such creatures. The kobolds, Ivor had mentioned how they have a good taste then quickly mentioned that he was only allowed to feed the militia "normal food"._

"Working with Ivor would not be such a great punishment,"

    she thought to herself silently.

"After all, I am quite the accomplished cook and could likely work well with him in this regard."

With that she chuckled inwardly and looked up the hill, determined that Elyl's spoken disclipline would not befall her.

"Perhaps when training is over I shall take him with me on an herb gathering venture."

The thought was not spoken though it made her smile. Using her hour wisely, she ate first so the food would have more time to digest. She then spent the rest of the time in quiet prayer before rising, stretching out and ensuring she was prepared and ready for the task at hand.

  • Elyl speaks after Ivor

Celestria, one thing you need to understand about Norwick is its history. This town was formed by barbarians; their “laws” were based on what was good for the tribe at that moment. As long as your actions helped, no worries, do something to hurt or cause trouble, well then you’ve just violated the “Law”. Although, those days of tribal thinking are long gone, that spirit still remains in these townsfolk who are proud of that heritage. They only want laws in so far as they give stability and guidelines for folks to live by and that these laws help protect their farms and families. They don’t want to be smothered by laws dictating everyday life. Impose that style of governing and you’ll soon find yourself at the business end of a pike or pitchfork being “escorted” out of town if you’re lucky, or… worse if not.

Elyl then looks up on a nearby hill once they are back, close to town and then looks toward all the trainees present, saying

Now then, Trainees, you get an hour to rest and eat. Then haul yourselves up that hill and gather all those useful looking small boulders and logs on that hill to bring to the south gates. I then want all the balustrades on the south side of the walls repaired and reinforced with points on the wood stakes sharp enough to skewer a pixie! Oh… and keep your armor on out here, no telling when trouble may arise. Make sure as well, all your weapons and armor are polished and in top working order for inspection afterward. If Colonel Mord so much as sees a smudge, I’ll see to it that you’re Ivor’s cook’s assistant for a year! Now… move!

  • Ivor grunts, having gone along with the group for the moment, before replying to her question

Essentially, lassie… tae way things werk in Peltarch up North loike is they wroite a buncha 'o' 'em laws... then they luk fer ways tae twist 'em to thar fancy. Then ya 'ave folk claimin' tae be "ignorant", and so they make tae laws more specific loike. After that, ye foinally 'ave laws on 'ow much ye kin breath, where ye kin spit, 'n' 'ow long ye kin grow yer 'air...

At the last part of what he was saying, he runs his hand across the stubble under his chin

… So really... ye shuld think about tae law above tae 'un quoted. Give that a bit 'o' thought 'fore ya respond... 'n' it shuld make sense about 'ow ya serve tae folk 'round 'ere.

  • South they traveled, loaded with a week’s worth of supplies. The ground was wet and muddy from recent rains and the stench of burned flesh and death still hung in the air from recent battles against the goblins. During their walk, the soldiers grilled her on the laws of Norwick. They seemed basic enough. Far more basic than Peltarch law. One of the guards quoted the first law to her:

“There’ll be no disorderly conduct in Norwick. Ye understand lass?”

She looked at him quizzically for a long moment before responding:

“I am not certain Sir. Disorderly is a fairly respective term. Would you please outline for me what types of things fall under “disorderly conduct” as I have seen in some places that being drunk in public is considered such.”

She waited quietly for a response as the guards looked back and forth at each other waiting to see who would answer.

  • tyler is seen makeing a round around the east goblins with small groups every once in a while, most of the time comeign out only ijured from battle saying that there keeps becomeing less and less goblins

  • Celestria is sent south with a small contingent of guards tot he Rawlinswood. The orders given are simple and straightforward and still ring in their ears

Ye will stand watch near the old town defenses you will run short patrols into the wood in all directions. Ye will note anything strange and ifn somethin is very out of the ordinary ye will send warnin back to town. Ifn all be quiet then ye will report back to the barracks in a week.

Mord pauses a moment glares at them

Ye git killed out there doin something stupidly brave and I will skin yer hides and nail em to the wall. The trainne best come back spouting Norwick laws and a feel fer the enemy and land about.

  • She stands in silence as Mord speaks. Her eyes remain forward holding an attentive gaze. Her shoulders squared and jaw set, a look of determination on her features. As Mord dismisses the line, she relaxes her posture only slightly, allowing only one thought to pass through her mind, though ne'er spoken aloud.

I may not be the strongest among them, but I know what there is to be gained and shall fight to my dying breath to achieve it.

With that, her gaze turns to Elyl awaiting his instructions for her.
