Recruit Trainining with Colonel Mord Cabro

  • Ivor grunts, having gone along with the group for the moment, before replying to her question

Essentially, lassie… tae way things werk in Peltarch up North loike is they wroite a buncha 'o' 'em laws... then they luk fer ways tae twist 'em to thar fancy. Then ya 'ave folk claimin' tae be "ignorant", and so they make tae laws more specific loike. After that, ye foinally 'ave laws on 'ow much ye kin breath, where ye kin spit, 'n' 'ow long ye kin grow yer 'air...

At the last part of what he was saying, he runs his hand across the stubble under his chin

… So really... ye shuld think about tae law above tae 'un quoted. Give that a bit 'o' thought 'fore ya respond... 'n' it shuld make sense about 'ow ya serve tae folk 'round 'ere.

  • South they traveled, loaded with a week’s worth of supplies. The ground was wet and muddy from recent rains and the stench of burned flesh and death still hung in the air from recent battles against the goblins. During their walk, the soldiers grilled her on the laws of Norwick. They seemed basic enough. Far more basic than Peltarch law. One of the guards quoted the first law to her:

“There’ll be no disorderly conduct in Norwick. Ye understand lass?”

She looked at him quizzically for a long moment before responding:

“I am not certain Sir. Disorderly is a fairly respective term. Would you please outline for me what types of things fall under “disorderly conduct” as I have seen in some places that being drunk in public is considered such.”

She waited quietly for a response as the guards looked back and forth at each other waiting to see who would answer.

  • tyler is seen makeing a round around the east goblins with small groups every once in a while, most of the time comeign out only ijured from battle saying that there keeps becomeing less and less goblins

  • Celestria is sent south with a small contingent of guards tot he Rawlinswood. The orders given are simple and straightforward and still ring in their ears

Ye will stand watch near the old town defenses you will run short patrols into the wood in all directions. Ye will note anything strange and ifn somethin is very out of the ordinary ye will send warnin back to town. Ifn all be quiet then ye will report back to the barracks in a week.

Mord pauses a moment glares at them

Ye git killed out there doin something stupidly brave and I will skin yer hides and nail em to the wall. The trainne best come back spouting Norwick laws and a feel fer the enemy and land about.

  • She stands in silence as Mord speaks. Her eyes remain forward holding an attentive gaze. Her shoulders squared and jaw set, a look of determination on her features. As Mord dismisses the line, she relaxes her posture only slightly, allowing only one thought to pass through her mind, though ne'er spoken aloud.

I may not be the strongest among them, but I know what there is to be gained and shall fight to my dying breath to achieve it.

With that, her gaze turns to Elyl awaiting his instructions for her.

  • Mord stalks out of the barracks to review the troops one cold rainy morning. Behind him walks Celestria in full kit. Mord leaves her standing at the end of the line and moves actoss the line. He nods sharply then asks Senior Guardsman Elyl to step forward next to Celestria.

A new recruit fer trainnin Senior. She be yer responsibility to teach the laws and the duties. He turns to the rest of the men She be all yer duties to train. I will not find this trainnin lacking, I know ye all to well.

    He nods sharply

    Dismissed!

  • With a sharp bow of his head, Alfonso looks sincerely grateful. "Thank you for your trust, Commander. I pray never to let you down." With the simple remark he turns and leaves, a shadow a smile forming on what is usually a stressed face.

  • Dwalin listened what Mord said, nodding after every sentence.
"Tankees Colonel fer appointment. I will dae my job tee best i coulda. Always listening and following the oldest instructions and orders, nae matter tee consequences."
Dwalin salutes Mord seriously and leaves the office

  • With a grunt, Ivor accepts the position. He salutes Mord at the end of his lecture, smiling a tad wryly

Roight, thanks fer tae appointment Colonel. I figure it'll be most amusin' sayin' I be arrestin' folk on tae authority 'o' Cook. 'ope ya nay moind iffin' I slaughter a gud bit 'o' lambs celebratin' tae occassion… y'know... lamb shanks 'n' chops 'n' shoulder 'n' racks... 'n' tae 'ole bit... roasted wit' garlic 'n' sage 'n' olive oil rub wit sum sauce made outta sum Saerloonian Special Vat 'n' ginger... aye? I'll git on it.

With that, Ivor salutes once again, marching off to make the feast for the Militia.

  • Trainees, Dwalin, Ivor and Alfonso are ordered to report to colonel Mords office. They are called inone at a time and informed that their trainee status is over and that they are being moved into the full guard position. they are alsoo infomed that this bears more responsibility and that ifn they do not uphold their positions that dismissal is always an option, if death does not catch them first.

    Mord looks each over
Ye are full guard, but….that does not mean ye know it all. There are others that served fer years and ye still have much to learn.
He smiles thinly and raises a finger.
I be not a cruel man but ifn ye do somewhat really stupid and cause this town loss er pain, I had best find yer corpse and nay a breathin body when I git to the cause.

    Dismissed!

  • A fresh face shows up fro trainning with the militia the following morning. Derin Blackmoor is handed over to the tender care of his fellow trainees and guardsman, May his god have mercy on his soul.

((New player. I liked his RP and informed him of the rules and need to get ourt and learn before he can become a full guard))

  • Mord listens from the doo and slips away quietly a thin smile on his lips

  • Dwalin found the others recruits in Militia Barracs and told them about the trainment with Lieutennant Cyrian.
It was a very good trainment, buta very hard, cos we needed tae suvive one entire day in tee woods wit no supplies or resting, and wit gobs soldiers and casters around us. Lieutennant shown mae whaa ta do, i learned a lot about tatics, fighinting and survival tecniques.
He said next trainment will be harde, maybe 2 or 3 days in ta woods…

  • Lieutennant Cyrian took recruit Dwalin out into the west rawlins to train him on how to deal with goblins for long periods, as well as on goblin tactics. kelinar acompanied them. It seems that Cyrians training was rather harsh, forcing the recruit to survive on goblin healing alone, not allowing any rests throughout the excersise which lasted about a day and a half. Both the recruit and Kelinar when finally allowed to return to town were in fairly rough condition, Cyrian was in pretty tough shape himself.

  • ((The DM's will get to forum access when they can for the full members of the guard, as Farly is now. Please check into the Narfell Wiki and you can see the current makeup of the Norwick Militia, Scouts and government.

Hopefully this link will get you there if you have not been. Cut and paste it in if you have too. Never done this so hopefully it iwll work.))

Reports may be PM'd to me or to another upper member fo the militia to get added to their reports.

As always, thank you for the interest and participatioon

    Darkspyr))

  • Council of Moradin

((I am unable to view the Militia forums as well, though I have been told that Farly has passed his training now. I had sent my reports to Dwin and he reposted them for me I think.))

  • OCC: Is here where i can report whats happen in Norwick? Darkspyr told me he would add me in militia foruns, i dont know if i'm already added.

  • Dwalin was little nervous when Devlin talked about fight against casters. He listened carefully the guardsman instructions and nods to him
"Aye, i really needa trainment ta fight against dat kin o enemies, day use trickery, nae fair battle…" Mutters in dwarf

  • (Sorry chap, not that I'm unavailable on weekdays but the timezones make it very difficult. I'm GMT +8, so I doubt I'll be able to catch you guys on that.)

  • Devlin nods to Mord, and he then dismisses the group.

"Alright ye lot, I'll let you all take a break until tomorrow evening. Show up to muster with Colonel Mord, and do your regular training with him. After you're all done, rest up, because I'm going to show you how to deal with some casters. Now, keep in mind here… These casters are very dangerous. They can cast fireballs, make crushing ice fall from the sky, make black tentacles grow out th' ground that will lacerate you, all sorts of things. Tomorrow I'll show you how to avoid some of these things, and take out a caster quickly and efficiently. Dismissed."

((We will do this in game, as I feel battle is a lot better played in real time.))
