The harsh Chult peninsula of southwestern Faerun is a ruthless place. A land where both life and death abound. Very few are brave or mad enough venture out into the dark depths of its jungles. Rarer still are those who do so for pleasure.
Akwete was born the son of a hunter. His father had always told him that hunting was in their blood. He told him stories. He spoke of the anticipation of the wait, the thrill when you spot your prey, the excitement of the chase, and the rush of the kill.
Akwete knew that he too would one day feel these things.
Akwete's Father was killed by one of the many virulent diseases spread by the countless number of stinging, biting insects of Chult. Tradition stated that deaths such as this were signs of weakness. Those that fell ill were weak. Thus, their offspring were weak. The weak were to be isolated, so that the people of the tribe would be stronger in the generations to come. Akwete knew this not to be the case. The strength of his ancestors ran through his blood. He was strong. He was a hunter, just as his father told him.
He pushed out into the jungle. Many years would pass before he was seen again.

He would wriggle down in the mud, his belly on the ground, slowly creeping amongst the vines, snakes and insects.
He would say to them, "Spare me, and you may join in the hunt."
That is how his prey would not see.
He had stalked this prey for some time now.
All was as it should be. His scent was masked. His clothes coated with the purple-red mud that covered the jungle floor.
Once, this prey had fled.It had noticed when Akwete had trapped the others. It attempted to flee, to hide.
But it was careless.
It fled upwind, heedless of the snapping of twigs and the bending of grass beneath its feet. Akwete saw these things. This was his home.
This one would be the last.
In a moment, it was done.
He felt it all over again. It was just as his father described. Every time.
He took its skin, like he did the others.
Akwete's prey was now exhausted. He had already decided what he would do. He headed to the frozen north. Surely, he would find more prey there.
