Rumors of the Valley

  • @15634133f9:

It started with a disappearance. Juniper Bramblepath, a sweet and shy assistant to one of the bakers in the Silver Valley had not returned from a trip to Norwick with a cart of fresh breads. The cart was found behind a stand of maples just north of the Kelemvorite temple with no sign of the girl.

A week later, Orn Levercrank, son of a gnomish inventor, disappeared on his way to Peltarch to negotiate with a merchant there.

Recently, Hoppy Briarpatch, a handsome and gregarious recruit of the Dragoons failed to return from a trip to the Gypsy Camp. His bloodied dagger and pouch of pipe tobacco were all that was found a half league north of Sam's Hill.

After providing mushroom casseroles and words of hope to the distraught Bramblepath, Briarpatch and Levercrank families, Ginger Tealeaf of the Silver Dragoons sets out to find fellow Dragoons and come up with a plan.

Hobbers. It has to be hobbers. I propose we pay the hobber cave a visit to search for Juniper, Hoppy and Orn. Leave no stone unturned. The hobbers might also have sold them as slaves in Oscura. We're going to need a trip down to the slave markets to look for familiar faces. If anyone finds information about our missing people, please share it.

  • After hearing Drem's report, Theaon can be seeing looking over the tree line several times making sure no more hobgoblins come too close to the Valley.

  • Drem reports that she has killed a hob that was caught poking around the treeline.

  • Despite looking a little weaker than normal, the Grape looks very happy. Very very happy. Pretty much happier than he's ever looked before.

  • Rumour around town is that recently two hins bravely fought off a half-dozen large creepy crawler creatures on Sam's Hill. The creatures had a terrifying aura and screamed with the voices of children. Word is that the two hins stopped the creatures from heading south to Norwick, but that one hin died despite the best efforts of his companion to save him.

There was no sign of the Norwick guards defending their border. Some speculate they abandoned their post, while others suspect they were killed by the creepy crawlers.

  • A tired and hungry Juster returns to the valley once more. A smile on his face and a sigh of relief are present apon his return, then he head into his tent where sounds of cooking and sleeping are heard in abundance. The valley is once again more colorful.

  • Theaon and Scutum emerge from the swamp a bit winded but smiling. Scutum is later overheard to have said, "I need a brandy… being surrounded by that many trolls isn't nearly as funny as I thought it would be."

  • A lone female hin walked on the road heading south out of Peltarch. Before she reached the crossroads, she met three hobgoblin ambushes. The hobber thieves met her ogre club, and then they met their god.

Later that day, the female hin met two male hins on the road to Jiyyd, and they decided something mush be done.

The three hins walked into the hobgoblin cave. They found a woman's looted backpack, but no trace of her body. They searched all around the cave and inside the hobgoblin temple. Several hours later, they exited the cave - still no sign of the woman's body. But not a single hobgoblin yet stood.

  • The Grape is seen packing a few things as if preparing for some trip. He then makes his way off, evidently not quite ready to leave, but it would seem his presence will be missing from the valley for some time.

//Sorry guys, gonna be out of town this week. //

  • Juster is overheard telling Drem to keep her eyes and ears open because it seems orcs may soon be wandering the plains once more. He then goes on to explain an encounter they had on the plains which involved more than one catapault and an ambush. Have the orcs risen again?

  • Rumour has it the hins will be having a big housewarming shindig for Juster up on the hill south of town. BYOB

  • Juster arrives in the valley for the first time in some time looking tired and dirty, yet happy to be home none the less. He heads up the hill where he stays and rests for… wait, he's still there.

  • The Halfling Defence League

Gears has seemingly disappeared from the Silver Valley overnight. His bedroll no longer occupies a space by Ginger's camp, and his bleach blond personage darkens her tent's doorstep no more. Nor is he to be seen anywhere in the entirety of the Valley.

  • _Despite the rumours of Riama being a Cyric worshipper and Peppy being half-troll, the smallfolk community buries their two fallen sisters as heroes with a traditional halfling ceremony. Urogalan accepts the bodies into his earth, and daisies are planted on the graves.

Some hins whisper that they saw a black dog howling at the edge of the valley the night the two were slain._

  • Albryanna stands by as the two hin are carried back, showing no emotion on her face, but saddened at the loss of two more innocent lives.

  • Tragically, the mage Peppy and accomplished performance artiste Riama have fallen whilst helping the tallfolk get rid of the dragon threatening the area. There is talk of commemorative statues for the sacrifice of these brave and good hin.

  • All of a sudden it seems as if Juster is walking on air. The spring has returned to his step and a happy smile once more lays on his lips. The dreary attitude which plagued him for so long now seems to be gone, appearing happier then ever.

  • The smallfolk crafters have recently begun a new woodworking project. They've been hammering together boards to create large, sturdy platforms - apparently the sort of thing you can lay across a moat. One hin is heard to remark "We're going to need more boards."

  • Dentin inspects those siege engines that come out of the crafting hall carefully, for any errors that might have been overlooked, before assigning them to the necessary positions along the line, or sending them to the Legion headquarters when there is no immediate use for them. It seems that with three different groups now producing siege equipment, there will be more than enough to support the entirety of the line, as well as provide seperate ones to use against the dragon. But who will man all these engines?
