Being borned in a poor family of peasants, Gywen was given away to the local temple, Helm's Hold at a very young age to be entrusted to the care of the priests. The pain at first hit hard, being torn apart from kin. But slowly, life improved in a way, there was better food and what's better, lessons by the priests on the dogma of Helm. The priests were patient and always watchful, there wasn't too much cheerfulness, but security was always there.
Slowly over time, Gywen forgets much about warmth of relationships, becoming more focused on her duty over the years. That is, to be ever watchful of troubled times and to plan ahead for such. Exhibiting such a strong outlook, the priests deem her suitable for the martial roles, thus they initiated her into everwatch knight, a group of dedicated bodyguards hired out by the church to generate revenue. She was taught in the ways of the sword, and began the task at the age of 14.
News came from the branch at narfell eventually a year later, Sir Amana, a priest of the order reports the final warding of the temple is to be carried out finally. Being the most determined and focused in duty, the priests agreeded among themselves to send Gywen as sword arm there to help guard the warding process until it is completed, then stay there a few years to pick up experience.
The moment Gywen knew about the decision, there was not a flicker of apprehension nor hesitation, she did not consider any difficulties, only the task at hand that needs to be done. After packing the neccessities, she headed to narfell via a horse.
Within months, she finally reached her destination. Something was wrong however. Unexpectedly, the priest Amana had gone missing, said to be captured by banite assassins. A letter was written back to inform Helm's hold. Meanwhile, besides finding Sir Amana as first priority, Gywen will watch over jiyyd as the town is under Helm's protection. The people must not lose trust in Helm, she cannot fail in this. There is much darkness that shrouds the truth, watchful she will be however, never betraying her trust.
