Jiyyd Rumors

  • Legion

*General Grag and the legion is seen bringing in many livestock to help aid the town in its most recent loss. It was rumored sthe livestock was all eaten by grag by some others say it was definatly the snow goblins to the east…

  • The town is abuzz with the news that six babies were left at the sisterhood doorstep. The best trackers claim that there were no people walking to or from the door in the night that the babies were dropped off.

5 boys and one girl, all looking similar, human, happy and healthy, about 8 months old

  • There were some curious happening is the swamp as a group returned from the troll lands. News about ooze, acid, dwarves with prodding arrows and many hopeful faces wanting to get out a powderkeg for fireworks. Many explosions could be heard from within the swamp. Cries of victory lamented in song as the apparent threat was vanquished.

//Thanks to ChaosNymph/Bubbles for a fun little adventure in the swamp

  • For a while it seemed to be quite a pleasant evening, before the posters appear. The young brunette Asha, known as Ragnhild's adopted daughter to some, excitedly telling the story of how she fought trolls. Trolls! She usually goes into an explanation of how gruesome those gigantic creatures look, covered in warts, stinking of rot and decay… like a swamp she says. And they're covered in mud and moss! It's apparent quickly enough that she didn't defeat the described pack of trolls herself, and she's readily admitting that she hid while Theaon, Sil and Kull turned the trolls into writhing heaps of flesh and then they didn't even shiver. She goes on to say she stayed with Thorn in the back but also proudly exclaims:

"I shot arrows at them! And… and like more than one hit true! And I think it hurt them! One even fell over and lay on the ground, my arrow hit so hard it shook from the force! Even after it had fallen over!

"And when we were like leaving, I was so curious about the large monster that I had lingered and Theaon told me to run because there was that troll coming and it had like not seen me. But Theaon screamed I should run. So I like did. And it cast that weird spell like it wanted to make me think Kull was a giant. But I knew Kull wasn't, you know? And so I just ran on and then Theaon and Kull beat up that troll too!"

Asha also goes into quite some detail on how Kull heaved his axe up and then hacked away at the trolls, severing them so thoroughly even the famed regenerating powers of trolls seemed helpless in the path of Kull's evoked fury! It was however not until short after their return to Jiyyd proper that Rando turned up and the mood turned hostile between those present at the time.

  • Posted outside the Sisterhood on the sign posts and fence, and promptly replaced should copies go missing, is the following sign, a copy of a correspondence attached to it:

    @4a55629c17:

    WANTED BY PELTARCH: RANDO

    @4a55629c17:

    Barrim,
I was not aware he was wanted b y your people nor was I aware he was alive. In order to keep relations good between us and to not harbor a wanted man feel free to post some guards here and arrest him with full Jiyyd cooperation if we se ehim again. Furthermore let it also be known he was sentanced to murder for his crimes in Norwick if that means anything to you.
    In Tyr's Name,
    Grag

May the good citizens of the land see fit to bring this wanted man in to face his charges.

  • One quiet night, a strangely familiar song, sung in an ethereal soprano, drifts over the town of Jiyyd.

  • Two rather young women visited Jiyyd's fire and the sisterhood recently, they speak of a drider they saw on the old battlefield and there's even mention of a drow attack on the sisterhood. Despite the shouts of a dying man, there seem to be no victims to mourn for now. The good news is, that Nicahh delivered a captured drow to the legion halls.

  • _The quiet of Jiyyd was recently disturbed when a small group of Sails visited. Some might remember the man who was rather sparsely clad despite the cold weather because he seemed intent to show people little sketches drawn on paper. The sketches were mostly just a mess of lines, with some goodwill figures or forms recognizable. The funny part about the sketches seems to be, though, that the man some know as Pavel starts to explain at length what parts of those messes mean. Usually it turns out it was meant to be a caricature of some sort, though quite often it seems more fun to laugh at the man than with him. In either case, he doesn't seem to mind, laughing or chuckling with everyone, either unaware or unbothered.

On a more serious note, Pavel also seems curious about people's motivations for fighting and their ways to fight. If he sees someone of potential ((i. e. all player characters with int 10+)), he asks them if they liked to share their knowledge on fighting. If they express curiosity, he asks their name and tells them to wait for word from him._

Along the main towns in the nars, all bards sing in the main inns, the tale of three adventurers that go about by the mighty warrior KULL, and the druids Sald and Belia for defending norwick from a possible undead attack. The bards sing about the bravery shown by both Sald and Belia for fighting dozens of undead minions and last but not least their chieftain, they sing about the epic will to resist all the temptions and offers of unlimited power offered by the very master of the undead

KULL (Half Orc Barbarian, Training Officer and Major in the Legion)

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

  • Although she hasn't commented on the changes with the council, Kara can be seen to be heading for the council building with a navy blue woolen cloak. When she leaves the building some ten minutes after, she is without cloak and seems somewhat determined.

  • _A rather handsome white-haired sorcerer, known as Ronan, visits Jiyyd one day, hoping to get some peace and quiet from the usual bussle of the other towns. Upon arriving he immediately hears the latest gossip on the changes Jiyyd is going through.

He does not openly share any opinions, and his expression seems rather uncaring. But for a few key points being said, he nods his head in agreement with the changes Jiyyd is going through.

The next day he leaves Jiyyd from his "alone-time" vacation…_

    ((Herrold is still here?…. :?

Lets all be mature and NOT make "accusations" that you cant back up.

  • ((It might be a good idea to separate the posts about the new government onto a new thread as disscussions may take place pertaining to this.

    back IC))

_Theaon looks over the crowd and observes the various reactions to Lens's speech, he is then seen speaking with some of the Troff Legion troops

"I can understand people's doubts about a different type of government. This is a change, and to some change can be frightening. Nothing to be ashamed of, it is only a natural reaction.

Though I think a little more respect should be upheld for the new councillors. Generals Grag and Lyte have spent months planning and working out tactics to fight off Sharn's army - which turned out successfully in case you wern't aware. chuckles And Harmony has spent countless hours trying to make Norwick a better place, only to run into complications with certain others in Norwick.

People seem to think Lens made this decision all by himself. They seem to forget that the majority of the council would have to approve for this to happen. If General Grag is really as bad as some make him out to be, and that General Lyte never disagrees with him, then the council would never have chosen them. You can work WITH someone without always agreeing with that individual after all.

The old council was too big. Things wern't getting done because too many councillors would not participate in the meetings. Going from as many councillors as there were to only 3 is quite a radical change. Perhaps the new council will end up being too small, and if so I'm sure they will make the proper changes for the good of Jiyyd. This town has survived through several bloody attacks, and it will survive through this change."_

  • Signs of great encouragement of the change come from the miniscule elf Elridith dressed in gold and silver who has been a common resident of Jiyyd for over a decade. She speaks to whomever is near her, wispering that they did the best they could with what they had, and that now is a good time to step forward.

  • agrees with Green ^_^ If nobody hears you say it, why would it be posted?

  • // Unless it is a dm playing an npc, I suspect it is only fair for those adventurers speaking of the "lunacy" of Len's decision to state what character is talking, or to describe themselves as hooded, or hiding and yelling in the bushes because they are ashamed or scared of expressing their thoughts in person. People dont normally tend to walk around masked in Jiyyd, right?

The "blue armored" character did good in making his or her affiliations known, but the other folks are speaking right out loud their rejection of the notion of the new council, and yet hiding in anonanimity that such speeches wouldnt normally allow.

Be brave! Tearing up your Jiyyd papers publically? Take responsibility for your character's words!

Just my personal observation, of course. It makes it impossible for Lyte to know and react to peoples response to her position, if the player isnt willing to actually commit to their character stating it.

You cant have it both ways. If you want to react publically, there ought to be someone seeing you act, or how does anyone know what your character did ?

    winks Now, carry on.

  • No less than a few adventurers who frequent Jiyyd can be overheard discussing Lens's poor decision and what a joke the concept of these new offices is.

  • The figure is not the only one shaking their head at the lunacy of it and leaving their papers behind as they depart for other towns.

  • :: A familiar voice can be heard murmuring to the masses as the shock of the announcement sets in ::

"Lens you fool! You are relying on the intellect of a half orc to lead us!? A blood thirsty one no less?! And to give a second vote to the someone who is more in bed with him than his own shadow!"

:: He starts to pace towards the gate, the robe covering him opening to show the blue tinged armor underneat it ::

"You have removed the voice of sense and reason and replaced it with the chaotic one of the Legion! Who is to stop the rush to violence now? His minion who does his bidding disguised as the militia?"

:: With an obvious air of disgust, the disguised citizen pulls out his Jiyyd papers and tears them into bits tossing them like confetti as he strides out of the gate ::

    "Madness… Sheer madness..."

:: The form moves quickly towards the North and the city of Peltarch ::

  • *Lyte is seen making herself available on a bench nearby, an odd look on her pleasant face that seems both warm but wistful.

When asked questions by nervous farmers, concerned housewives and other citizens of Jiyyd, she answers in her pleasant, straightforward way, assuring them all that she wishes for Jiyyd to remain the honest and pleasant farming community it has always been.

She speaks of the farmers need for more protection to the east, beyond Jiyyd's current eastern gate, sharing with them her plans for increasing watchman patrols along the eastern road, and the building of a new and stout set of gates at the edge of the farmlands near the old road to Ormpur.

She talks at length of Jiyyd's growth and spreading out in the recent peaceful times, and the need for the militia to expand it's coverage to provide protection to the newer farms, as well as those closer to the town center.

"After, all, she is heard to quietly state, they pay taxes too."

Lyte takes the time to listen to all concerns and opinions, looking each farmer, adventurer, and merchant in the eye, nodding and occasionally shaking a dusty hand or smiling to a child presented by it's mother.

Politics in Jiyyd seems a bit like buying peaches at the Jiyyd market, with everyone wanting to squeeze the fruit, before taking it home.*
