- Party XP Change - see below
- Party members of ANY level are eligible to get combat XP.
- Party average level will still be calculated within 4 levels of the highest party member level.
- If you are outside of the range, party bonus XP (10% per member, max 50%) and XP distribution will calculate based on the total number of party members.
- If you are inside the range, party bonus XP will be awarded at 10% per member inside the range and -5% per member outside (max 50%, min -50%). It will be distributed based on the number of members inside the range.
- If all party member are inside range, XP calculates as it did in the past.
- XP taper for combat XP still applies as normal.
Examples
A level 15 party member has FOUR level 8 tag-along members. The party average is level 15. If an average level 15 party kills a creature worth 100 1e xp…
For those in the range:
The upper "bonus" rate is calculated at -25% for the 4 tag-along members.
The level 15 PC gets 75 1e XP.
For those outside of the range:
Each level 8 character is effectively in a party of 5 members. This yields a 40% XP bonus for 140 (you do not count "yourself" in the party bonus). This XP is then divided five ways (though does not get distributed to the level 15 as such).
Each level 8 PC gets 28 1e XP.
A level 12 PC, a level 10 PC, and a level 6 PC are in the same party. Only the level 12 and 10 qualify - the average level is 11. They kill a spawn worth 100 XP for a level 11 party average.
For those in the range:
There is one PC under level in this group. There are two party members. 10% bonus and -5% penalty combine for a 5% bonus for 105 1e XP. With two PCs in the range, it is divided by two (rounded up).
The level 12 gets 53 1e XP. The level 10 gets 53 1e XP.
For those outside of the range:
The level 6 is in a party of 3. This confers a 20% party bonus (you do not count "yourself" in the party bonus). The resulting 120 1e XP is then divided 3 ways.
The level 6 PC receives 40 1e XP.
In summary, higher levels bringing along lower levels outside of their level range do not suffer a "division" penalty of XP, but do suffer a penalty to their overall bonus (which may go negative) for bringing them along to balance out the contribution. Lower levels must deal with the party average handed out by the higher level PCs, but otherwise receive XP as normal.
