Telli in the Chauntean Temple
-
A group of bedraggled warriors head home through the gates of Norwick, an unusual burden in tow. For once, the triumphant childish laughter of a familiar Dwarven Priestess does not ring out as a heald before her presence, letting friends know of her return.
Instead, a somber procession enters the Temple of Chauntea, and lays a dear friend down before the altar, prayers and tears alike flling upon the stout, still, form.
After long moments of silence, of prayers seemingly unanwered, the altar glowed green. A feeling of peace swept throuh the room like it ws borne on a warm breeze, and pulsed with the soft glow, that faded with a voice addressing those present.
_My daughter has come home, and is at peace at last. Remember her well, for she has earned her rest, with me.
And just like that, the body was healed of any injuries…
No laughter followed, or surprised comments. The familiar, "Whats happendededs to Tellis? " after being knocked silly doesn' ring out from the jovial little figure, no do her hands move once more to tend to others before herself.
The body does not draw breath, but is still, and at peace, it's expression serene and silent.
Telli Thunden, Dwarven Priestess of Chauntea, Earthmother.
May her steps ever fall upon soft, green grass, and healthy bountiful fields.Yllalyn seems to be taking care of arrangements for Telli's resting place._
-
With Telli gone, Marty occasionally dons her priestess robes and performs various rituals and services in the temple.

… meanwhile, far off, a dank underground cavern resounds with the report of a wet slap - the sound of a damp, blonde, crab-infested corkscrew-curl wig ricochetting off the raw stone. A certain pegly dwarven priestess of Umberlee mourns the departure of her "nemesis" Telli, albeit in a less heartwarming way than many of the chocolate-box Chauntean's pals. To a crewmate in the Sails, Mercy grumbles...
"Oi, messmate! Can'ee believe yon fat slagly, bush-browed, moss-whisperin', badger-crotch-baited, lardly-louseworm an' flop-tit-wanked weed o' Chauntea's weepy arsemine - Telli - Umberlee curse'r sour-lactatin' stew-plumps - ha' gone'n go'r sel' humped tae death, wi' a wanion!?"
"Merce swore blind she'd stick'r soddin' scythe up Telli's womb'r'sel', she did! Cried mine, did I, this dwarf be fer death b' Mercy's own fin, wi' a wanion! Some lubbers jus' nary ha' no 'spect fer a sealasses' nemesis, they dinnae! Who e'er swaggled tha' pleasure off me, says I - argh, an' wi' a fell curse tae boot - they be in fer'n gubbin' - damme fer a ratcatchin' Chauntean-plantin' corpse-rustlin', pus-pinnin' cuthroat if'ain't so! Yarr. Where be me rum, need tae drown me sorrows at losin' th' pleasure o' seein' th' light leavin' th' bitch's eye!"
After rum has been produced, Mercy spits out the cork and raises her bottle and toasts in the traditional, hexing manner…
"Here be tae Telli - may her afterlife be spend in'n ocean o' pigshit! She were a daft slag'n life - an' Mercy wagers she be a daft slag in death! 'M hope be she spends eternity wi' a farkin' oak root up'r fertiliser-pipe, growin' intae th' empty space wha' used tae pass fer th' slug-slut's skull, wi' a wanion, black th' white o' me eye else!"
After hearing this, the recently silent Stubs pipes up, the fury of the dwarven gods in his eyes
<d>Ye take tha' back, ye take all tha' back…</d>

*A few days later, Z, who seems to be a bit more composed, returns to visit Telli one last time. With him, he brings a loaf of freshly baked bread, a bundle of wheat tied with a red ribbon of silk, a single red rose, and a fine platinum sickle. He gently leaves all of the items resting near her and asks Yllalynn and Leogold to be sure the items are buried with her.
As he turns to go, he stops suddenly and looks back at the peacefully resting Telli. A slight smile crosses his face as he pulls out a large piece of chocolate and places it with the other items.*
@09ba3a5172=Z:Whispers We couldn't forget the chocolate, now. Could we?
As tears begin to well up in his eyes once again, he fights them back reminding himself that she's in a better place. Satisfied, he makes his way out of the temple and heads home.
-
*Z returns to Norwick after a week-long hunt, and heads towards Temple of Chauntea, as usual, to pray.
Ignorant to the death of his dear friend, he enters the quiet temple and strides towards the altar as he has done hundreds of times before. This time, however, as he approaches the altar, he gets a sudden sinking feeling in his stomach and all color immediately drains from his face.
Shock and disbelief temporarily overwhelming his mind and body, he wavers in his step. Instinctively, he grasps for something to steady himself, but finding nothing, settles for taking a momentary knee.
Taking a minute to collect himself and regain his composure, he remains on one knee. As Yllalynn and Leogold rush over to help him up and over to a nearby chair, his voice cracks, “What…what happened to her?”
He takes a seat and sadly listens to the tale of how Miss Telli fell and how she is now, and forever, in the arms of the Earthmother, Chauntea.

He smiles slightly upon hearing about the voice of Chauntea and what she said. But for most of the tale, Z just sits there in shock and disbelief as tears well up in his eyes.
After hearing the story of how Telli fell, Z thanks “Miss Lynn and Leo,” slowly rises, and heads over to the altar. Kneeling at the altar, he quietly prays for a very long time.
After his prayers, he stands up and whispers to her for a while. Recalling many of the adventures they had together, their long friendship, her extended apprenticeship in the Union , their love of crafting, and most of all, the bond they shared together as followers of the Earthmother, Chauntea.
Tears welling up in his eyes, Z leans over and whispers one final thing to his dear friend.*
@aa1c12215e=Z:
I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help you when you needed me the most, Miss Telli. Chauntea will look after you much better than I ever could. Rest in peace, my sister, I’m sure I will see you soon.
*With that, he leans over and gently kisses her forehead.
As Z exits the temple, his, normally, cheerful blue eyes are puffy and bloodshot. He says nothing as he makes his way out of town and shuts himself in his farmhouse. He does not come out for several days.*
((Tigrelily, I’m really going to miss seeing “Miss Telli” IG. She and Z had a lot of adventures together and, though they were polar opposites in many ways, Z considered her one of his closest friends.
I look forward to meeting your next character.))

_I think that would be a perfect honor for her, Foilir. I don't wish to get in the way of the council honoring their kin, and you all would know best how to treat her.
I'm sure your plan will be a good balance respecting both the Clan and Chauntea both._
He seems pleased by the idea.
Foilir nods solemnly to Jerrick and his face affords a flat smile at the words of a druid.
Me will inform the council and we can make the preparations for the burial of the 'farmer priest', Telli.
He methodically turns and makes his way back towards the hold, avoiding speaking to or interacting with the others grieving at the temple.
-
Vanderkaus stays inside the Temple for several hours. His eyes telling him a story his mind doesnt want to believe.
He gives a final look to his dwarven friend, and storms out of the temple to the Hold, helping the priests with the preparatives for her funeral.

All the while Jerrick digs, Feather sits near by and quietly watches; when he finishes she drops a single seed in when she thinks he isn't looking

Stubs hasn't said a single word since the news has reached him. He spends almost all of his time sitting in the room with the sarcophogus, turning a small amulet over in his hands as he keeps staring at the tomb.
-
head down and slumping Grag lets out a deep sigh My faithful friend you have taught me much about loyalty an a servants heart. May ye rest weel… takes her legion keys and sighs again
-
_Foilir looks over the will and stops. He nods and hands the will back to Jerrick.
The dwarf tugs on his beard pensively as he makes another offer that would appease the dwarves and Telli's last wishes.
Perhaps the body can be prepared for burial by the dwarven priests in the temple. When its time for burial the body can be carried by the temple guards and members of the Council of Moradin to the temple of Chauntea.
That way the dwarves of the hold can pay their respects as well as the people of Norwick. The death of a dwarf is a serious business, especially that of a priest. All the trimmings of a dwarven burial should be provided.
The sarcophagus will be made anyway, but will lay empty except for the ales that were left partially empty in her honor._
-
He shows him the Will that Telli left behind, stating that she wanted to be buried here.
I believe her wishes should perhaps come first? He asks quietly.
(it was from a PM from Tigrelily, since I handled her death as a DM. Will have to work out the IC knowledge with her, and edit appropriately)
-
_Foilir approaches Jerrick and has a quiet conversation about Telli's burial. The dwarves of the council are planning on a sarcophagus in the temple of Moradin. As she was a "samman" in the council, she would be buried with all dwarven honor that is given to a member of the council.
Her tomb will be guarded by the temple's elite guard, who are entrusted with protecting the remains of all the dwarven members of the council.
He explains that her tomb will become a part of the dwarven lore in the temple, with her likeness carved by the stonemasons, and inscriptions of her exploits decorating the rest of the tomb.
They walk and talk quietly, the dwarf not wanting to upset the druid, and speaking solemnly._
-
_Anor, who was waiting to know where was Teli going to rest, approaches the place Jerrick is digging at, and chants to Mielikki, a prayer of Growth Plant, making the plants around the future grave of Teli grow up forming a beautiful structure, and the crops field growing bigger and stronger. she finalizes her chant in tears, and says just one thing…
" For you and your dreams, my friend"
She then nods to Jerrick, and walks away silently, lost in thoughts...._
-
Jerrick comes by to pay his respects, kneeling for along while by her, seeming to hold a quiet conversation. Words like "Redemption" and "new all along" are heard, but the rest is quite hard to pick up.
He then pats her hand with a smile, and walks towards the Chauntean shrine east of town, and seems to be moving a stone over by it, and then begins digging a hole.
-
Albryanna enters the temple, and for a long while just stares at the lifeless form, her lips moving slightly as she mutters silent prayers. After bowing her head in respect, she quietly exits the temple without so much as a word to any she passes.
-
- The slow tap of a metal staff on the stone floor echos from the temple. Slowly, the dark armored dwarf makes his way towards the body.
One final strong tap and he stares at the 'farmer priest', muttering to himself.
His hand clenches his staff until his knuckles are white. The staff glows red around his fist, a faint sizzle is heard as it burns his hand.
Forgetting for a moment that anyone is around, he reaches out a hand in her direction and starts to mutter in gutteral dwarven. Remembering where he is, he stops and recomposes himself.
He takes out an ale and down most of it, leaving a sip at the bottom. Walking over to the body, he places the open bottle with the remaining ale near it. *
{D} For your journey to Moradin.
- He kneels in front of the body *
{D} Respect.
- Quickly and quietly he walks off, the tapping sound of his staff resonating in the temple *
-
Aramuil quietly enters the temple, upon viewing Telli lying in state he closes his eyes for a long time as tears run from his eyes. He then quietly says a prayer in elven and departs.
