    Background:

    _Raman is a child of a former adventurer and a merchants daughter. His father was a mediocre wizard who decided to retire early, marrying a merchant's daughter and settling down in a house south east of Helgabal. Making a living creating minor magical items and selling them to traveling merchants and other people they lived quite happily. Early on Raman's father noticed that the boy had a keen mind and would become a much greater wizard than him if he would get the chance. Raman was also very interested in his father's arcane dealings and often spent much time with him when he was practicing his magic. Early on Raman began receiving some training from his father as his aide.

    Years passed and Raman eventually turned 17 years old. By this time he could already cast minor spells and had developed a longing for some adventure like the ones his father had told him many times.

    Few more years passed and one autumn night disaster struck. A band of kobold raiders attacked in the dark of the night, setting the house on fire. Raman and his father tried to fight them off but the kobolds were too many and eventually the fire and the many kobolds won the fight. Raman's father was stabbed to death and his mother was burned inside the house. Raman was able to survive, although he was pretty badly burned and bleeding unconscious when the kobolds finally left having gotten as much as they thought they could get away with.

    Raman was saved by some hunters who saw the fire from afar. Arriving too late to save his parents, they were still able to save Raman from certain death. The kobolds were too many for the hunters to follow so they took Raman to a nearby house for aid

    Eventually Raman was able to recover fully except for the nasty looking burn scars on his face. He now had a burning hatred for kobolds and once he was well enough, he said his thanks to the ones that had nurtured him back to health and set off into the world. There was nothing left for him here anymore…_
