Whispers at the Fire

  • ((I keep wondering why we don't have a regular rumors thread like the Peltarch forum. So, with my latest bit about Tindra, I'm gonna try to start one for here. Feel free to keep the post going by putting any rumors here instead of starting a new thread. Thank you.))

A story is being spread around town how Praeth helped save one of the town's Advisors, Tindra. She was in his shop talking with the druid Fadia, an elven diplomat Lyte, and Uchi of the militia. A dark figure quickly slipped out of the shadows and drove his blade into Tindra twice before anybody could react, and then turned on Uchi. While he and the other two ladies fought off the assassin, Praeth ran around his counter to tend to Tindra. It is not known who the assassin was sent from.

    //OOPS - Wrong thread.

  • Observing what has been happening, Anna Blake uses her down time when not working as a defender up north to cast blessings and protections on the fields to help keep the crops safe for the small town.

  • Norwick suffers from occasional snowstorms. This has a devastating effect on the plants, as it should be summer. The priests of Chauntea are doing what they can to keep the fields alive.

  • As talk of impending war passes between adventurers and militant groups across Narfell, it seems word reaches ears that may well have been far abroad. A familiar solitary shadow once again positions itself upon the southern tower in Norwick. One more set of eyes and bow against the hoard.

  • After a welcome home trip high into the Coldstones, a giant-fighting weary Cecil strides back into town, looking for a pint and a familiar face or two.

  • Recently Cray was in the Dwarven hold, buying a few rounds for the locals at the inn. He was subtlety asking about the Nightmare Clan.

  • Kima Falstaff is seen talking to captain Timmott in Norwick about Wolfgang's disappearance. She then goes in search of his two brothers to gather more information.

  • _Wolfgang Leadshield, Norwick militiaman, has been reported missing from the town.

He was last seen heading to the North Gate.

Rumours indicate numerous causes, such as job dissatisfaction, heading off to wage a one-man war against Oscura, he knocked up a local priest's daughter, or the most crazy rumour, that he found out he has inherited a lesser kingdom in another realm and is off to claim his crown.

Nonetheless, his two brothers are very worried._

  • _The first Norwick Fight Night in years kicked off with a predictably elven victory in archery (predictable in the absence of such names as Rasuil, at least). Raryldor claimed first place, though had surprisingly tough opposition from young Nica, whose small crossbow hit its mark repeatedly until both stood at maximum range from the targets. The paladin Silver claimed third place, shooting well until the final round. Despite the final score, many spectators agree that the best match of the evening was that between Kuln and Raryldor, the targets littered with bull's eyes.

In the boxing ring, Peltarch's Cerulean star Jonni fought well, defeating the tenacious Silver in a close match and losing narrowly to Daron in an even closer one. Daron also defeated Raryldor until facing Nica, who squared off with Kima before the final round. With a flurry of blows, Nica claimed the title, then left the festivities with a big smile on her face.

Rumours from the team event are as yet hazy, perhaps because the audience had started in on the plentiful dwarven ale by that point…_

  • @6e809ef4a8=ClownBaby:

_Several Union members are seen carrying heavy wooden crates out of the Union Hall and setting them down in the fairgrounds. As they start to unpack the crates, the fairgrounds come alive with color. Soon there are red banners hanging all around stitched with yellow letters that read "FIGHT NIGHT".

Fresh painted archery targets are set up and a large square is outlined in the middle of the fairgrounds. After all the crates have been emptied, the Union members roll out the final ingredient for the event, a huge keg marked with the Dwarven symbol of "Aura Runedar"._

Dwarven knucklehead Legan Axckleln walks past the fairgrounds heading for his most recent goblin bashing jaunt, looks at the banners and spits:

    "Whot th' fark's tha' say?!"

He then turns to a random Union member asking:

"Oy! Whot are ye doin' 'ere?"

After being explained about Fight night, he scratches his head and proceeds to go bop goblins in the head with extreme force, but not before rolling by the keg and taking a laaaaarage swig of the fine dwarven ale.

  • _A red dragon roars across Norwick's sky as it makes a majestic landing just by the south gates, but apparently it's not alone. A few "passengers" came on top of it, riding it in what seemed to be their trip back home. Norwick's guards watch stunned, and not sure how to react before the colossal red lizard, they seem to prefer to cling to the idea that the dragon is not directly inside Norwick's territory to keep at a distance.

Amongst the people that were riding the dragon, an excited Elaine seems to have her typical huge, happy smile in her face as she jumps off the dragon, asking if the experience could be repeated sometime soon.

"But make it a Moon Drragon next time!" claims the redhead whirlwind towards the Mad Mad Mage that seems pretty happy to have her red dragon back in one piece.

In the end a few more adventurers reached the scene on their own foot and a round of rewards was offered to the intrepid adventurers that, would you believe it, seemed to have rescued the red dragon by the name of Scales from not a Mad Mad Mage, but a Wild Wild Mage instead.

That should surely be a tale worth telling…_

  • The well known ranger Rasuil, alongside two younger, blonder associates in blue, return from the Rawlins carrying an unconscious woman in visibly poor condition. Horrified rumours suggest the woman was found buried alive, deep within the woods… what sort of monsters would do such a thing?

  • A bruised and bleeding woman, covered in sandskin, reports goblin trouble of a gruesome necromantic flavour to the guards. She claims to have encountered a veritable army of goblin skeletons alongside horrid patch-work undead in the area west of the lake, along with goblin necromancers…

  • There have been several reports of Moldy Rat tribe goblins pushing cart loads of hacked goblin corpses out of the coal mines not long after a group of adventurers cleared out the entire goblin hold, leaving hundreds of corpses behind. It is unknown where the Moldy Rat goblins are hauling the corpses, maybe they are giving the goblins from the hold a proper burial?

  • There was another large gate attack on Norwick last night. An army of goblins and hobgoblins assaulted in waves. Luckily, scouts had warned the town of their approach and a sturdy group defenders led by one of Norwick's own guards were ready. These included the dwarves Macmonogog and Silver, plus Mark, Damien, Kristovar, Shesarai, Cyrian, and the hin mage Maki. Raryldor joined the battle part way through and provided strong assistance.

Only one attacking group, a party of about 10 hobgoblin casters led by two war drummers, managed to penetrate the gates. They were stopped and destroyed inside near the campfire. The goblin attacks appeared to be led by a mysterious goblin general who used invisibility, but was eventually spotted and killed outside the gates. He dropped a very foul-looking sword that smelled strongly of poo and let off clouds of noxious fumes that spread over the field and into the gates. That's when Maki stepped forward, grabbed the sword, and declared: "I know what to do with this!" He was then seen running off to the north somewhere.

  • And even more undead! It is said darkness fell suddenly before the sound of groans, moans and shuffling feet approached the south gate. The four unprepared adventurers lounging there made a bee-line for the ramshackle defences up the hill, fighting for as long as possible until the dread death knight - slayer of eight guardsmen - appeared, eyes and sword aglow in sinister red. Demanding to see the Chancellor, the powerful undead knight tore through all in his path until suddenly… he was there no more! Scattered rumours report a female figure appearing and disappearing in a burst of light and sound, just prior to the big bad's vanishing act. What next?

  • _Still more undead marched on Norwick, the gruelling attack starting at dusk and continuing unabated through the night. All manner of horrors came forth from the darkness, and though the few defenders made a heroic stand, several waves managed to push through the barricades. Zombies of all sorts and sizes, ghouls and shadows, skeletons and vampires - the fighting was so intense that the Order's veteran sir Shannon D'Arneau himself looked exhausted afterwards. At dawn, the last vampire was staked and the Tormish priest sighed as he carried the several fallen into the temple of Chauntea, aided by the young Selunite Nica.

The dwarves Foignar and Silver, alongside long-legs Daron Miller, were raised by Yllalyn herself in recognition of their bravery and sacrifice in the defence of Norwick._
