Whispers at the Fire

  • _Lately the old woman and her handmaiden have been seen having multiple dinners with a young farmer from a little ways out of the village. Though her dark staff is no longer to be seen, a nice wooden one has replaced it at least. Conversation topics range through a number of things, but the general gist appears to be the farmer is a son of someone who knew.. George??

Strange stuff to be sure, but anyone watching for a little longer gets the feeling that the old woman may be eyeing up a match between the farmer and her handmaiden._

  • The Former Chancellor is seen walking with a message he received from a Peltarch messenger. Once he reads it he smiles wide and has a bit of a skip in his step for the rest of the day.

  • Ael'Que is seen to receive a letter at the Grapevine. He seems to stare at it for a long time before his face goes strangely calm and heads south out of town. Later patrols report finding large numbers of hobgoblins and goblins nearly cut in half . Body parts scattered all over the area.

  • Stubs can be seen going around town, asking any and all he meets if they've heard news about a Silver Dragon in the area recently, and if so, where it might be found.

  • What's this? Castration anxiety? A deep-seated but sorely repressed case of vaginal envy? A level eight? Surely not! Such questions are - no doubt - the talk of the town as Narfellian psychological scholars - Doktor T. Stockmaan and Doktor Fritz von Stroheim - ply their healing trade amongst the aching psyches of Norwick. The two gnomish gents set up their "office" on top of the wooden archery tower by the south gates and held a series of theraputic sessions with the damaged, the deranged and the mentally pained of the region. "Mad" Senator Marty of Peltarch in particular fell into a wide-ranging discussion with the two learned gnomes, who promptly fell out over the appropriate interpretation to impute to Marty's lurid horse fetch and sundry other personal confessions. Von Stroheim understandably pushed his new-fangled diagnosis of classic "dental/labial syndrome" while Stockmaan repudiated the same as the "paranoid ravings of a derivative fantasist" and denouncing his fellow scholar as a "two-bit quack". It is understand both gnomes intend to publish definitive articles on Marty's psyche, proposing distinct treatment approaches. They were last seen hunched over tables in the Inn, furiously scribbling their scholarly reflections as each tries to best the other and submit their definitive research first…

  • (( Celad leaves word with the Militia and around town,, that someone is kidnapping young girls and attempting some kind of ritual with them in the old graveyard. Four girls were killed there recently, but they were brought back to town and raised by Yllalyn.))

  • _Rico Swift shouts at Amarmuil from outside the gate the next time he walks by.

"HEY! NOT CURSED ANYMORE! CAN I COME BACK INSIDE?"_

  • A day after the group return, a Keg was found just south of te gates.
Belmar, thinking it could be a free keg, advanced on it, just to be cought in a trap well setled.

Thinking this could be a hobgoblin pay back once again a group of adventurers head to tha Rawlings. But found nothing that would indicate the link between them and the keg.

Some days laters, Vanderkaus thinks outloud in front of the Union Hall:

"Eh, considering da last years of atacks ta da gates, oi never saw un hob using kegs, eh. Dats da goblins way 'f doing things. Oi better check dat hold of deirs juss ta be sure.

Maybe dere will be sum nice trees dere too, eh"

  • And aperently the beardless-bald-smiley-wigler (?) dwarf was rigth.

At the next morning, Vanderkaus, Rasuil, Caelisar and Benedict went to the Rawlings and found out several hobgoblins (caster, ther champions and drum beateer) and even some bugbears (mistic, archers and warriors) guarding a chest.

After defeating the humanoids, the dwarf opened the chest to find a sepll cristal, a diamond, lots of gold and some botles.

Arriving to Norwick, the brave group of adventures displayed prodly their scars.

Few moments later, the barakor curses:

"Bah!!! Dis not ale, eh. Juss sum potions."

  • A few days after helping Rasuil's Hobgoblin problem, the beardless-bald-smiley-scout (?) dwarf Vanderkaus is trying to put togheter an expedition to check the caves in that area:

"Eh, da activity dere was very weird, loike dey were guarding er hiding sumthing, eh. Oi think we shuld take a better luk dere"

    // today, in +/- 2 hours.

  • _An old woman has taken to wandering Norwick lately, always with a much younger handmaiden by her side, and constantly with her dark staff. Contantly pointing at things in wonderment and asking random questions, she spends most mornings enjoying the fire from a cushion, her afternoons taking a nap, and then her evenings entertaining an individual or two at a dinner table in the Grapevine.

Sharp eyes would see her randomly picking up a stone or two during her day trips, and those who may know of her trip to Norwick… literally groan at the idea of how heavy her bags may be getting now._

  • @4be2db4521=Gobbletom:

Rumor has it that Nico Black is looking for a few more goods to sell at auction.

Dwin hears this rumor and declares it MUST be another vision of the past… No one has seen Nico in a horcs-age!

  • Rumor has it that Nico Black is looking for a few more goods to sell at auction.

  • The Halfling Defence League

Fad, overhearing the dialog, simply facepalms silently

  • Ronan still seems amused by all the backlash. Saying something about "undeciplined children" as he hears about it.

  • ::Rith overhearing the conversation, chimes in briefly::

Even though old Dwin here lacks terribly in diplomacy and his reasoning seems convenient, it is also sensible. There is nothing so far that has shown us a valid reason to trust what those images are displaying.

We don't even know what creates them, so as far as I can tell, they might be tools used by fiends - some of which could be more familiar than others - to toy our minds, leading us to ambushes and setting us against each other. Evil is wicked, and deceitful, and I've seen - and lived- worse tricks than these.

In matters regarding those "visions" I advice to believe what you want, but for now, trust only your gods.

  • The day people start believin' demon-created images over reality is a sad one.

And mark me words… anyone that accuses me of explodin' my own men will have a few less teeth to speak with.

  • _Havon openly admits,

"In the Memory Images, Dwin was indeed involved in the destruction of Sam's Hill. But I suppose this is a matter of egos rather than accuracy."_

  • Dwin chuckles at Benji's re-telling of the story, not quite understanding the Gnomish words, but understanding the gist all the same

Aye, Benji… now that ya retold the tale, I think yer version has the most truth to it. Perhaps ya got a bit o bard-story-teller in ya, eh?

    @d2edbc2a77=SummonerX:

_Former chancellor Dwin was heard yelling at none other than Senator Ronan at the old south gates. The former chancellor spouting threats of harm and of "adding Ronan's hand to his collection of hands." Though the dwarf made no attempt to attack the mage, thinking magic unfair in a "real" fight..

Ronan himself seemed amused by it all. Though the subject that made the former chancellor so mad was something about Sam's Hill…_

    @d2edbc2a77=Clan:

Dwin scoffs at the rumors of the crybaby mage.

If asked, he says he recalls a white-haired dress-wearing wiggler trying to antagonize folks at the south gate, but that it wasn't much of a big deal; unless of course you are mage prone to self-image issues and insecurities, perhaps.

When challenged to an actual "man" fight to settle whatever inner-anal issues the mage is dealing with, apparently the good Senator fled the scene.

At least thats how Dwin remembers it.

Benji hears the rumors and chimes in.

_"No, no! You BOTH got it wrong.

Ronan and Dwin were sitting by the gate and RONAN goes:
'Hey Dwin! I heard you killed a bunch of your own Militia men when you blew up Sam's Hill.'

    and DWIN was like:
    ' <g>Fark you!</g> I didn't blow up Sam's Hill.'

    And RONAN was like:
'Yeah you did. I saw it in some kind of magic vision.'

    And DWIN said:
'You want to fight about it?'

And RONAN put a spell on himself and the said:
    'Nah-nah-nah-boo-boo, I'm covered in Acid, <g>mother-farker!'

    And DWIN was like:
    'You're such a <g>pussy.'

    And RONAN was like:
'No I'm not! Magic is fair.'

    And DWIN was like:
'Go get donkey-<g>farked</g> again just like you did in the magic vision that -I- saw.'

And then ARAMUIL, who was there too, said:
'Come on now everybody. Let's be friends.'

And then RONAN went and pouted by himself by the fire.

    … and that's how it happened."</g></g>_

    Benji nods once definitively.
