Oscuran Forces

_Lately travellers have noted Oscuran forces moving in the Pass, they don't seem to be taking positions or anything. Just seemingly taking note of the pass and it's features. They seem pleasant enough to fellow travellers if not a bit standoffish.
If asked what they are doing they merely reply
'The Justicar asked us to get more information on the terrain outside Oscura.'_

Seems the Oscuran fort has completed. Several squads of various Oscuran forces man the station.
The roads in the area are frequently patrolled and the troops seem well maintained.
Those entering thru the station note it seems somewhat empty. Several store front like structures are empty and a smithy next to a stable stand ready for use.
The farms outside seem preliminarily done but unfinished. Though the ground has been tilled and cleared of rocks no one seems to be working the fields.
The entire area seems to give a feeling of incompleteness or as if they are waiting for something.

_He nods once to Jerrick, then motions towards a nearby copse.

Jerrick walks out from the trees nearby, and bows his head politely. He's wearing leathers, and is damn well camouflaged with the trees for some reason.
_I am a captain with the Legion, and can speak for us if need be, or bring you into a meeting with one of our general if need be too.

The bald man dressed in black and red armor politely approaches a Legion patrol, unmasked and unarmed. He asks if he can speak with a Legion representative, preferably someone who speaks for the Legion on the whole.

Seems the Oscuran patrols are now patrolling the same areas as the Legion(though a forest lays between them). What has suddenly changed is unknown, perhaps the Legion and Oscura have struck some sort of deal. Either way, the Ridgelands are said to be the most fortified and patrolled area in Narfell now.

A large man in black and red, with white trimming armor is seen directing and ordering about a group of similar dressed men around the worksite, he spends time in discussion with both the other man giving orders and the Oscurans… During one such night, shortly after the show in the pass, a group of underdark creatures combined with spiders attack the workers on the tower, the men in black and red mobilize quickly and efficiently defending the tower from the horrors several of them are seriously injured...but the defenders are successful. Samples of the dead creatures are taken and their remains are tossed into the chasm. The area is left clean and clear of dead carrion, and the men return to their posts. The large man enters the passage returning to Oscura sporting many wounds and cuts, wearing them with pride.

Men dressed in red and black patrol the surrounding areas, slaughtering any monster they come across. A man wearing a horned black mask seems to patrol with them, occasionally stopping to speak with the Oscurans.

As the finishing works is being done, seems quite a bit of work is being devoted into building fences and farm type areas (though no crops) about the structure. Seems the Oscurans are expecting quite a bit of activity soon.

_The cleared areas seem to be being prepped for farming, the ground is being loosened up and tilled by earth elementals and rocks as well as other impediments to farming are removed. Interestingly a small stream is being diverted toward the farms to seemingly provide easy access to fresh water.
Meanwhile, the building is beginning to take shape. A squarish building spotting towers and a gate seemingly built to take a commanding position off the road is nearing completion. Inside an extensive 'cellar' area has been constructed and along the walls are inner buildings which seem to include a number of shops, a barracks, and smithy, and stable as well as other unknown structures. Thought the exterior is nearing being finished, a bit of polish work and finishing the interior needs done._

Construction continues on the walled building. Seems the workers are clearing tress around in a wide perimeter and taking the time to remove large boulders and stumps leaving the land level about the structure. The wood is taken deep into the Oscuran workshops for processing.

_Much progress has been made, the walls are going up, a stone foundation with the metals bars has been laid on the ground some 20 feet down and layered levels have been placed,towers can be seen and the dwarves are installing a portcullis. Inner buildings are being built as the walls strat reaching higher.
In addition, seems a bigger squad of troops are now stationed at the construction site and patrol about the area._

_Seems digging has begun, deep trenches have been dug following the white markings. Various magicks are used, earth elementals are used for digging then followed by workers shoring up the trenches and apply clay to the sides of the trenches to fill holes. Fire Elementals are then brought into the trenches seemingly to harden and dry the earth. Water elementals are brought in to perform various tasks of directing and moving water.
When a trench seems to meet the head dwarf's satisfaction percut blocks of stone are lowered into the trenches. Oddly, each stone has a series of holes in them. Once a few layers are stacked, another worker takes bronze rods and inserts them into the holes followed by a caster who melds the stones together into a seemless wall.
Much still needs done but it seems like the builders have a specific plan to their activities and assign various tasks to anyone that offer to help. Needless to say they are supervised as they do so and certain 'delicate' tasks are left to 'professionals'._

The Pale Man watches them from a ways away, giving them minor bits of help if they ask for it.

The Captain of the PeaceKeepers can also be seen at the site, often speaking with the skeletal women, or with the dwarves, helping out where she can

A strange skeletal looking woman was seen walking about the entrance to Oscura inspecting the work being done, she is barely noticable and seems to appear out of nowhere, issuing some quick orders before vanishing again. Some of the local travellers seem uneasy seeing the strange women, but they note she is dressed as a Peacekeeper although this does little to ease their nerves…

_The forces in the Nars seem to be leveling and beating the ground around the cave and applying a white chalk like substance on the ground as discussion seems to continue among the dwarves. Sometime later a group of Lotus members bring out one of their wagons which the dwarves begin to take more measurements and seem busily scribbling notes down in little books.
It is said a group of mages and priests even visited the dwarves on the surface for a short period and were seen being pointed to various ground features by the dwarves before the casters returned underground.
They don't seem to have any desire or need to harass any travellers nearby though it is said one dwarf did throw a traveller in a water barrel in a huff after they trampled on some of the chalk lines._

_On a related note. A large squad of Oscurans seem to have set up a camp at the cave mouth. A group of dwarves seem to be directing things as they seem to be making drawings and sketches as well as marking the ground nearby.
Travelers with engineering or architecture can discern it looks like they are preparing designs for some sort of structure._

Benji mutters amongst a group of Legionnaires as they pass Oscura on patrol.
_That's <g>bullshite</g> and you know it. There's no -way- all this activity is 'unrelated.'…
No. It doesn't bother me that they're all coming up here to visit. As long as they don't come complaining to me about sunburns I couldn't care less._
