::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::
-
..An orange haired bard was escorted by the Magistrate Barrim, senator Roland, knight Mariston, and defender soldier Shannon to the senatorial office a tenday ago..
..Nathen Wingates was seen strolling out of the Mermaid whilst covering a yawn in the Peltarch commons some time after. He was seen draping himself on a bench, and chatting with the locals. He was even welcomed warmly by one Eowiel Senella with a hugged embrace in the commons, some say. 'Seeming' to be his old self again, but not quite entirely; something's… changed.. as for what, the rumors hardly get into detail..

Some peoples discussion of the Zyphlin trial is entirely different.
_"I it was pretty borin', was fallin' asleep, until this elf..
..isn't she runnin' for senator too? yeah.. yeah.. yeah.. get this, this is so funny, the OTHER senator candidate Eowiel… hehe..
..was accused the guy of abusin' his magistrate position years and years and YEARS ago because he wanted to get in the trousers of this redhead..
And.. and.. he said he hadn't, but I am not sure if I believe that... and she got up and say somethin' about being a spy for Peltarch.. anyway, when Zyphlin is asked about his sexlife with her.. I think..
..this redhead elf got up and shouted that he was.. get this.. he was having lesbian threesom with the senator Candidate Eowiel and some other girl at the time..
so, like this redhead girl gets arrested... it was hilarious, the judge ordered her arrest like, and then..
Eowiel had to come up and explain herself again, and she confessed openly she was jealous of the redhead girl and her relationship with Zyph...
..ah man, it was great, the drama, I thought next his pregnant wife would come in, or.. maybe Zyphlin would confess to be gay.
Best. Trial. Ever"_

I was just putting what the likely reactions would be once rumor got hold of it, if there is a problem with it I can edit or it can be removed. Most is vague and some is obviously farfetched, exactly what rumor usually is.

_A fair number of bards and messengers are seen going around the city talking about Zyphlin. In the taverns, they are liberal with their coin and buy free rounds as they discuss Zyphlin's campaign. Some talk about how he has finally been found innocent of all charges despite attempts to frame him by Banites and other unsavory types. Others regale listeners with tales of his heroic deeds in Narfell.
"I still remember when he spoke to the troops in the civil war…"
"I hear he came close to catching Koreth, too..."
"...and remember when he helped old Bromley cure the plague?"
"I saw him defending the temple alone when it were attacked by demons!"
The various bards say little about other candidates, though they speak favorably of Mariston and Eowiel if they are asked._

((I witnessed the whole thing as well being the elvish mage, from my own opinion if you actually read what the 4-6 pcs reacted and said (they were all watching as a crowd) aeolderr's description is apt.))
-
((While that is the case… I don't see commoners mentioned anywhere, only those that witnessed the incident. As I was there, that was a pretty correct summation of all the witnesses's opinions, to an extent... and of which for the first part, I would say there was 6+ PC controlled players... worthy of such titles as "most" "others" etc. So maybe the correct term is the post wasn't descript enough in the mentioning of who it specificly referenced. Furthermore, it could be the usual nasty rumour-spreading on one of Aeolderr's character's part. Anyhow, back on topic? further discussion moved to Rass's or General? We're trying to do some rumourmongering here :P))

@417bddd997=strepsiades:
((were these crowd reactions from NPCs controlled by the SDM, or should they be ignored?))
((i believe there were at least 4 other PC controlled characters watching at the time ))
((You are not supposed to put NPC reactions (such as the wondering about the Divine Shield being corrupt) unless a DM tells you to. Simply state a rumour about what happened and not about NPC reactions unless a DM told you to/it is okay. PCs do not control the NPCs' reactions unless stated otherwise.))

Rumor spreads of an incident in the commons involving an elvish mage and a man in Divine Shield armor, most recognize as Sir Richard. From most accounts, the knight was seen threatening an elvish woman, the name given as Evia, with bodily harm should she fail to apologize for some slight. What the slight was remains somewhat open to speculation, so remark it was an insult to the order or himself, others mention that she spat at him, while still more say the slight was simply a mistake caused the volatile paladin to erupt.
Rather than focused on what the incident actually was, most seem greatly amused to chat about how quickly the knight resorted to bullying tactics, and perhaps if the Order isn't starting to show signs of corruption.

rumor has it that an attempt was made on the life of one of Peltarch's finer citizens, Deacon Sterr. A fight in the upper levels of the Mermaid was heard and there is certainly blood in the hallway in front of room 104 as well as the body of a slain "Lady of the Night" lying in the bed in the same room. Patrons of the bar seem to recall, through their drunken haze, a Defender pulling a man by the collar out the door and towards the jail…

_Rumours floating about mention an attack on the city by a dragon.
One thing is known for sure. Guards were posted in serious numbers around the southern gate in the Civic District._
-
The well known Cerulean, Mecizq, has been sighted shuffling around Peltarch in his uniform, using a quarterstaff to help him walk though he seems in good health. He can be heard muttering prayers to Mystra often, and seems to be taking an unusual interest in simple things, like spending hours simply listening to bird song, while his memory of companions seems to have vanished, being heard to ask in the commons "Who's Clandra?".
-
_The haughty noble mage, Lady Rose Hollowmoon, was the target of a pickpocket attempt. After then hin tried to flee, she muttered something, and ordered the hin to come back, which he did.
The hin confessed everything. Odd thing is, one of the defenders was acting way out of his jurisdiction, and wanted to throw her into the jail. Cerulean Knight Eowiel saved the noble's day, however._

Roland is said to have fallen gravely ill, disappearing into the temple for over a week. He is later seen walking south through the war-torn pass toward Jiyyd, wordlessly and unarmed. Some say he has gone mad for certain this time. Within a few days he returns alive, bearing a few scars. Oddly, these appear quite old, as if inflicted many years ago, yet no one seems to remember him having them until recently.

Night falls in the Commerce district and the bustle of the daytime dies away. As the hours of darkness pass, the sound of sobbing from somewhere on the rooftops is a soft counterpoint to scuffling rodents and echoing footsteps.
As the sun crests the horizon a distressed Eluriel stumbles through unfamiliar streets in a state of disarray to escape to where she can be alone.

Rumours go about that the banite Nickolai is now being wanted by the city of Peltarch for escaping arrest.

Sir Richard is seen escorting new adventurers ((5 lvl 1 pc))thru the foothill. He heard of a rumor that the kobolds in the south cave are conducting vile rituals. The group enter the cave and all is well till they reached a gate. Sir Richard opens the gate catously when all of a sudden a large noise come from the gate alarming everybody No more then several feet pass the gate a horde of shadows attack the group. Sir Richard give the command to run and retreat as the number are overwelming for the new adventurers.
Remebering the motto his uncle taught him "leave no man behind" Sir Richard was able to close the gate on some of the shadows but many attacked them. The young adventurers where no match for the shadows as the shadows drained them of there strenth. Sir Richard with the group was able to deafeat them and assist everybody out. He gave the commond to sir vale among them to warn the gaurds as he helped the others and protected the rear from a counter attack.
Sir Richard beleives that the shadows where possibly protecting something but his first responciblity was to ensure the safety fo these new adventurers.//thanks dm death cat all 5 of these pc where new to the server. I hope they like what they saw and stay.

It seems within days all Peltarch learns of Senator Roland naming his fellow Senator 'Rath of the Gods', Senator Rath (the divine) is seen much about the city in his shiny, shiny armour and seafarer guards dispensing wisdom and bestowing upon all (except the particularly smelly) the benefiance of his presence.

It is said that a woman, crying blood, approached a group of adventurers sitting outside the Triad Temple. Not much later, undead appeared. They nearly vanquished the group, which had to retreat back into the temple. After hammers were supplied for, they set out again, first crushing the undead inside the city, then heading south. After some time, they came running back in, one of them carrying the body of a man. They all left the temple walking normally later, though the man who was carried inside looked weak.
