::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • _The Midsummer Festival seems to have attracted quite a crowd into the city, some of which remained in Peltarch in various states of conciousness.

Talk of the tournament fights seem to center mostly around Senator Mariston who fought successfully with his bastard sword against a mighty barbarian, a fierce beauty and a strong crafter, each fight looking to be a close cut. He lost only one fight in the semi-finals against an elven martial arts specialist and even that seemed to be an even struggle. In the final, Grag faced off without weapons against that very elf in a fight that might have ended badly for the huge half-orc barbarian whose equally huge axe had secured him his victories before. But in the end, he was able to use his superior weight to trip the elf and thus won the tournament. His victory left a few bad tastes with some, though, because he was called back into the ring for the second round even after Hedia had beaten him with her magics before but later suffered the same fate as the elven martial arts specialist in her fight with the strong crafter.

In the archery contest it was particularly the halfling Ginger who impressed with an almost perfect aim, but there were many others with similar skill in the competition. An elven archer who also made it into the last round, was apparently too distracted by the crowd around her and missed the spot on her second and third shot. In the end it was just Ginger and the human crafter Z who kept hitting the spot. Eventually, though, Ginger's aim wavered for the single and only misshot in her otherwise perfect score. She missed the spot and Z took his chance, securing the first prize of the archery contest.

Other noteworthy gossip talks of a small group of lizards visiting the fair and watching the revelry peacefully. A particular interesting show was offered for all those daredevils who wanted to enjoy the midsummer fire very closely as a field of smouldering coals was placed on the ground for them to run over. It's also mentioned that merchants appeared there, some speak of very fine weapons that were sold on the grounds of the fair.

The silvery shimmer of the first day of Eleasis was crawling up over the eastern plains as the two hosts, Sabre and Pavel, were last seen disappearing quietly from the fields holding each other's hands._

  • At some locations in Peltarch posters appear, advertising a Midsummer Festival.

((If there's any costs to be covered for placing the posters and/or keeping them in place, please contact me.))

  • A pair of Sails members can be heard talking a bit worriedly about an attack in a kobold cave. It seems they were attacked by what seemed to be sneaky human adventurers.

  • There have been many rumors of houses being broken into during the darkness of Night, mostly homes within the commerce district, the Peltarch City Guard can be seen speaking with the victims and taking notes of all that has been stolen. There are no suspects at this time.

  • …and yes, posters go up in peltarch too...

  • word filters from the senate building that Mariston may be seeking to end the threat from the hag once and for all

  • Rumor suggests that a horribly and almost female looking giant came out of one of the caves in the foothills, dragging a huge cookpot with it… or her. She then started a small fire in the foothills and as a small group of guards tried to push her back they found themselves added into the pot, cooked until they were thoroughly done. Then, it is said, the horrible woman - some called it a sea hag - started gnawing her victim blank down to the bones, rarely leaving more than a few small pieces of flesh. Horrified by what happened to their comrades, the guards did not dare to make a move against the monster. And the first two attempts to drive the creature off, undertaken by small groups of daring adventurers ended with only more meat for the sea hag to feed on. When at last, a third force was assembled and went out to end the creatures life, some mention that High Priestess Daisy herself was with them, the creature turned invisible and was gone from the place, before anyone could counter her magics, leaving behind only a obscenely large and stinking heap.

  • The infamous captain Deacon Sterr was recently seen in a rather unusual and striking getup. Seemingly fast asleep in the town commons, the unsuspecting man was dressed up in a bright and very short red dress, complete with thigh-high red boots. The three women responsible also took the opportunity of commissioning a painting of the sleeping beauty by a local artist.

  • Sometime later, the defender officier in charge of the watchtower was seen running from the tower into the city and towards defender command, with apparantly urgent news. He was said to have looked worried, inbetween sprinting to the command buildings.

  • A man clad in steely blue-grey is seen returning from the foothills with what appears to be a Defender corpse slung over his shoulder. He disappears into the Western Watchtower for almost ten minutes, then emerges travelling back into the city, without the corpse he came with.

  • Eluriel talks to Mariston for a while then heads off west to see what she can see.

  • Mariston stands atop the tower and has the spyglass brought up. He surveys the scene for himself

  • Rumours spread from the guard tower in the foothills of unsettled foes lurking high in the mountains that some claim to be fire giants. They seem almost readied for war, or to defend themselves. The Giantkin don't appear to have come near the city yet though.

  • Having heard the rumors of a giant kobold monstrosity, a hearty group of adventures set out into the hills under the protection of renown Guardian Zoma. Their goal seems to have been to find out more about the specifics powers of this threat, trying to follow-up the creation of such a monstrosity. The first step on this quest has led them into a kobold cave where they have discovered a skeleton of gargantuan size. A part of the group thought this merely the remains of a kobold feast, but the mage of the group seems to be convinced it played a role in the creation of the monstrosity.

  • _Renowned gnomish sorceror The Fool, Master Scutum of the Four Winds Monastery, and bowyer Ginger Tealeaf returned to Peltarch from the Giantspire Mountains recently carrying the lifeless body of their fallen comrade, Peppy. The quiet trio tiredly headed directly for the Temple of Tyr.

There’s talk that the group had set out only days earlier, chattering excitedly about the prospect of finding lemmings and hoping to spot a gold dragon who is rumoured to live in the mountains.

But there was no dragon. Only scores and scores of ogres. An army of hostile, ugly, hate-filled ogres who chased the four deeper into giant lands, hell-bent on killing the smallfolk troupe. How three managed to survive is a mystery._

  • Ocean notes the blue elfs work and enthusiasm and invites her to visit the various Orphan houses she runs to entertain and teach the children.

"New teechuz iz olluz welcum, zpeshully thoze az cun teech praktikul zkillz az cun be uzed later in apprentizhipz"

  • Eluriel is often in the more affluent areas of the city. Much of her time there is spent sketching, or carving detail into wooden toys and ornaments. A ready smile greets most who might wish to make her acquaintance and her produce is given freely. Clearly delighted by the company of children she is equally likely to be talking to them, teaching them whatever she may that catches their interest, or playing games with the spirit of a child. The sight of a dark-haired elven girl passing by never fails to capture her attention.

  • Fashion-conscious ladies of Peltarch and beyond talk excitedly about the boot sale in the Wilting Flower Shoppe. Apparantly Lacy is promoting her new line of thigh-high boots with quite some success. Red and pink are the standard and most popular colours, though she may consider special orders if one is willing to pay. Rumour also has it that new dresses to go with the boots are coming into the store in the near future. Noted warrior and official rat-catcher of Peltarch, Ms Horbag Hurkink, was apparantly the first to display both boots and dress (in a startling red of course), turning quite a few heads (and possibly some stomachs).

  • Fenz was declared not guilty on all charges, and has since happily resumed his peddling. Apparantly, Hemrod had been attacked and nearly killed in the senate building by another hin, though it could not be proven that this hin was Fenz. The question that remains is.. who is this mysterious assailant.

  • The trial of Fenz is set to be held on the 11th day of Elient, in the Courthouse. Rumours are flying around that Acting Magistrate Greywing has cut short the seemingly lengthy ongoing investigations by the Guard, saying if they don't have their witnesses by now, they should not have arrested him in the first place. The mystery around why Fenz was arrested persists, since the Guard have not allowed any to visit the poor halfling during his incarceration. It is certain there will be a hefty crowd at the trial, and the guard are already seen around the courthouse taking measures to prevent any riotous interferences from the crowd.

((Trial will be tomorrow at 8pm GMT))
