Tavern Rumors of Peltarch
-
_The city's halfling gardener was oddly dressed today. Instead of her usual Legion uniform or gardening overalls she was dressed in a colour shifting camouflaged outfit. Judging by the foliage entwined in her hair and camouflage face paint, it looks as if she's off on a mission that requires stealth.
Judging by the coils of climbing rope that hang by her side, it also looks as if she plans to do a bit of climbing.
Anyone keen enough to keep an eye on her would notice she casts some kind of spell from a ring (highish Spellcraft may be able to identify the spell as Dispel Invisibility) before disappearing into the tall grassland west of Peltarch._

A mad rumor about a Cerulean Knight apparently declaring trees unlawful and exiling them emerges… how unusual. Perhaps there's a grain of truth in there somewhere as several trees that certainly weren't there only a few days ago have not only sprouted, but also apparently producing fresh fruit. Weirder and weirder!

Rumors abound of a conversation in the commons regarding the Dwarf Igor and the Cerulean Knight called Walter scolding nothing else but a Dragon! Ideas of the knight or the Dwarf rolling up a newspaper and swatting the wyrm like a naughty puppy may come to mind as the story suggests that an ultimatum was offered to and accepted by the Dragon after suffering a crippling defeat at the hands of the two adventurers…

_For the last few days, it appears that Peltarch's army presence in the city walls is more and more prominent. It is not strange to see a column of soldiers walk out on patrol or the normal guard being roughly doubled.
All looks like normal activity in the sense that soldiers aren't seen rushing back and forth, but the increased numbers and general presence are certainly noticeable._

Rumours abound about giant bodies stacked high on the Icelace Beach, after a band of dwarves rallied at the call of the Defenders. Bloodied and grinning, the dwarves returned to town bearing tales of the deed, not least of taking down the hill giant chieftain, vivid red of skin in sheer embarrassment of his minions being cut down to size by dwarven axes!

Word has it that the priestess Anna Blake had been in Damara for awhile, being at her family farm for the last few tenday. Having returned on a somber note as her last living family member had perished of natural causes, she still carries an aura of kindness and hearth that she has been known for over the years.

_More details start to seep out about the upcoming auction, now confirmed to be held at the Lucky Ferret Inn. Rumour has it that many of the items on offer are both exotic and exquisite, reflective of the expensive tastes of the Sails own chief importer of fine goods, Scarlet.
Some gossip-mongerers even claim that it is Scarlet's very own adventuring gear that will go under the club, all of the highest quality. She's hanging up her mantle to marry King George! No wait, the Pasha of Mulhorand! Or maybe she's just going to buy an island of her own and fill it with a limber and tawny-skinned harem to cater to her every whim and desire…
In the midst of these more or less substantiated rumours, one thing is for certain - you had better bring all the cash you can muster!_
((auction is tentatively scheduled to Saturday, October 17th, euro-evening time. More exact details will follow next week))

_There goes the word around the tourney grounds of Peltarch that some time near dusk a pair of individuals, one in blue the other in red, got into the round ground of the fairgrounds to give a fight, rather duel. Lighting up benches and fences to start out the show.
Friendly spar? Of course!
The scarce people that went around when the combat took place, most of them bankers or foremen working on that district, judged how the (legendary) match scored a one-on-one.
No further wishes to untie the match, the scarce people murmures, due to the epic but ephemeral kind of its essence._

_There's a buzz going around the docks, originating from the Lucky Ferret Inn. It's a hushed sort of rumour at first, speculations about new and fantastic treasure arriving at the Sails-run inn, though interested speculants will find few fresh additions to the store at the back. Instead, more detailed information can be gleaned through the glib-mouthed staff, all suggesting that an auction is coming up, featuring rare and unique items of exceeding quality and value - especially to a certain type of clientel.
Wink, wink, nudge, nudge._

Rumors abound as a couple of residents move into the prestigious "Residential District" area of Peltarch, a large house with a window overlooking the tourney grounds. It seems a certain Cerulean Knight is finally doing alright for himself…

_A few dignataries from foreign lands have been seen arriving to Peltarch lately. All of them seem women of prestige, descendants of important lineages. Word is that they are "competing" for the privilege of hosting King George's child in their womb, given the infertility of George's own wife. It appears that some fertility rituals were attempted, but unfortunately they had no effect, and all these women are now in Peltarch to take King George's wife's place, at least in producing a suitable heir to the throne of Peltarch.
In that, it appears that one of the visitors has hired herself a personal bodyguard, the foreign warrior going by the name of Nuwairah Zarah'kifa, who being unemployed accepted the job opening when directly offered to her. Maurina is her name, a particularly powerful mage which none are sure if she wants a personal bodyguard to ensure her safety, or just to rub it in the faces of her competitors. The other two candidates seen so far are Aino of the Nars, and Elsa of Damara. It's clear from what has been observed so far that they know each other, and they hold a veritable rivalry on the matter._

_Rumor has it that the monk Kessmiah has been seen working diligently at the Peltarch crafter's hall, serving community service for destruction of the sundial. Keeping the hall positively immaculate, there are rumors that her behavior might be annoying various crafters, often standing nearby to sweep something they drop, clean a table, organize things they place in nearby boxes, and overall invasions of personal space.
When told to back off, she meditates in the corner, the moment the crafter is done and gone, as if almost casting a spell she makes sure the work area is completely spotless. Its as almost if she had done work like this for a living in the past._
-
_Yet another giant and ogre attack took place in the farmlands northwest of the Peltarch Commons. Several farmers were seen running into the Commons carrying what belongings they could. They were followed by General Theaon Thorn of the Troff Legion, covered in blood, calling for the Defenders. Once the Defenders gathered, along with a few nearby adventurers, they went back into the farmland to engage the giants and ogres in battle.
A few hours later the group of adventurers returned having been victorious, for the time being. It was said the Giants were throwing boulders at the Defenders, killing more of them. More horrifying rumors suggest the captain of the Defender squad was crushed to death._

_Frequenting the wake of vultures and murder of crows is a lone raven, though shows little interest in the presented pickings. Instead it carries its flight further west, circling high over the cave's mouth.
From time to time it will dare to dive inside, exiting shortly thereafter to sore east towards the city, perching atop the western gates._

News travels about the commons of Oger activity out to the west. A literal cart filled with dead Defenders strolled through the streets to the temple, with mourners hanging there head and weeping at the carnage. They passed by the commons on there sorrowful march passing by adventurers splitting the spoils that are said to have come from the Oger leader.
Was this brutal attack a flash in the pan or do the Ogers prepare for war?
The skies above the Giantspire hills are swarming with vultures. Piles of thick ogre bodies and huge Giant corpses slump over the hills as crows fly back and forth between them, pecking at the meaty gore exposed. The defender's post has been reduced to a huge pile of broken boulders and smears of blood. The remains of several brave defenders we're gathered from the site, some only consisting of a mere arm or leg, and others defenders are missing entirely, presumably dead.

Word spreads that Orianna briefly stopped in the Peltarch Commons a few nights ago looking for Akseli, who was not there at the time. Before she went off to find him, it is said Orianna once again asked the adventurers to find a way to stop her father without killing him. Many who are involved with this matter may say they are not confident in that happening.

Rumor has it that the elven monk Kessmiah somehow managed to accidentally light the sundial on fire. Sentenced to community service for 2 years, the young elven woman seems quite content with the outcome of her punishment and diligently performs her duties.

_A weird sight indeed for those frequenting the Fair Grounds. Cerulean Knight Walter seems to have taken on a prodigy, a child - no less. Armed with a blunt short sword and small round shield the blond haired little girl he's training is far from becoming the hero that her mother once was.
Walter himself is usually armed with a stick or quarterstaff and, for the most part the training is more akin to rough-housing than anything of any martial capacity. Cruelly however he'll occasionally swing out a touch harder, or strike outside of the pattern and clip the girl on her arm or leg; once or twice (much to Walter's obvious regret) the head or face. He claims that these are accidental to the girl, though perhaps he has ulterior motives…_

Cray Vincint has been inquiring around the commons and local pubs about hiring a full time potion maker… He mentioned the position would include room and board. Interested applicants can drop a note through the mail slot of warehouse #2.
