Jonni and the mages

  • Jonni is seen several times standing just within the Gypsy Pass in deep discussion with several prominent mages. They gesture and motion out towards the Nars Pass and the hobgoblins with an increasingly confident attitude.
If one happens by during these discussions, they'd see drawings in the dirt…. looks like construction is being planned

  • Jonni and Tala, along with the rest of the Elders put the gates up together, ceremoniously opening them wide. The new valley looks as if it's always been there, a quiet refuge for weary travelers, and a few industrious Rom set up make shift shops along the road.

  • The walls nearly finished, the new road laid down, the Romani women making a special effort to spruce up the small area where the guards on watch will stand, and a new area for holding festivals and markets laid out as part of the building goes on. The rumble of earth slows, the sounds of hammers and chisels no longer echo across the Pass…..
Quiet reigns for the moment, the walls waiting for their new gates

  • Jerr drops by and asks to see the plans for the tower. "Iffen we only need a bottom floor for the barracks and day room and the top for archers, seem to me we might make it three or four stories tall and lease the space to thems as what want a but of peace and quiet away from towns.

Would help finance the tower and engender more ongoing support. not to mention anyone who could afford the lease would be helpful in keeping the doorstep clear of dust, leaves, monsters . . .

Just a thought mind you, but one worth considering . . . if the locals want the benefit of our protection we should encourage them to do their part in keeping it.

  • Many sizeable logs of cherry, maple and oak woods appear to have taken from storage in seasoning for the gate doors

Been aging this for close to 8 years now. I was going to make bows with them, but everyone goes to Ginger or Star.

Tala shrugs running a loving hand over the wood

  • Jonni and Jonathan can be seen working together, alongside 3 of the Camp's finest wood workers, building the massive gates that will complete the nearly finished walls.

  • Kaetlyn continues to help out where she can, easing aches and pains of those working at the blunt ends of the shovels, arranging cooling invigorating breezes during the heat of the days and being generally cheerful.

  • Lately, Senior Guardsman Albryanna of the Norwick Militia has been seen patroling the pass more than usual of late. After circling through the northern pass, she detours past the Gypsy Camp, inspecting over the construction. Some days, she may even be seen taking hold of an idle shovel and assisting the workers with digging, returning home several hours later.

  • _Celebring maintains a deep focus during the tremors that rock the camp and the rest of the Nars, shaping the earth in their own favor. Even the pixie Elanor refrains from trying to distract him, or anyone else for that matter, seeming to know better when it really counts.

Celebring himself is very cold and calculated when directing his fellow Arcanists at this time, his patience for error thin. Despite this, he encourages those who falter, urging them to press forward until their task is complete._

  • Cherry, a little ragged from long days working and even longer days of rest that held no rest at all, eventually leaves the harder physical labor to those with stronger backs than she. Instead she joins the mages, lending magical aid to the primary casters through any circle casting.

  • Raver turns and glares at Tala before sliding into a grudging laughter with her

  • Tala brings Raver tea one day on the ledge taking a break herself from hauling, planking and cooking.

Nice just to shoot a few arrows I'm thinking. she mumbles something for Raver's ears only your ass will never be the same again. Likely need to get that armor reworked.

whatever she muttered causes her to chuckle and smile

  • _Rumbles shake the Nars as the mages led by Celebring and Cera draw the earth slowly up, shaping their side of the Pass into a defensible position.
Warriors keep watch, keeping the hobgoblins from attacking those who only wield magic or shovels.

Raver seems to have gained a bit of weight these days, and hasn't been seen in full armor in several weeks. Nevertheless, she spends time each day up on the cliffs armed with a bow and her sharp eye for threats_

  • _Ragnhild keeps throwing all of her considerable strenght and energy into the work, mostly hauling heavy logs or stones or otherwise pitching in where pure muscle force is needed. Competetive as ever, she will often liven up the work day with small challenges against various unfortunate fellow workers, then happily (or sulkingly, should she actually lose) helping herself to large quantities of Tala's stew while recovering from such bouts.

Lycka on the other hand, seems a bit more at a loss of how to help, clearly being more than a little impractical, yet does her best to assist whenever her other duties allow it. After the initial sourness at Dentin's presence has faded, the young bard seems to recover most of her sunny mood, often singing cheery work songs while striking up a compelling and easy rythm on the drums._

  • _Arandor resists, for awhile, telling Tala he is fine and still able to work. He eventually gives in when she seems to insist, telling her not to work too hard or wear herself out.

The long hours of work don't seem to affect him too much, he leaves the construction site early and relatively fresh. He helps himself to another bowl of the stew before heading home for the night._

  • *Tala is often seen making vast quantities of soup that turns to stew as the day plods on and the soup simmers to a thickened stew. All accounts say that the stew is still tasty at the end of the day, but will sit on you like you ate a deer haunch yourself. It seems to owe largely to the thickness of the stew. Arandor and Tala often arrive at the fire with a deer and a tree or two between them. Making short work of the logs into boards and using the larger branches to feed the fires as she makes stew.

The long hours of toil see smudges appearing under her eyes. She watches Arandor though more closely and insists that he go to their home long before she finishes her day.*

  • The hillwork goes on, night and day…. the very shape of the Pass changing as the mages go about their work, with every Rom and Gali using shovels and picks to aid the efforts.

  • _Aside from a few days off to spend with her husband or just rest and talk with friends and maybe help fight off a few hobgoblins, most of Cherry's hours remain dedicated to drudge work she can manage to help with in building the fortifications.

Maybe once or twice she might black out on the job (bad curse rolls). Shes right back out there to toil away, both times, by the end of the day or very next morning._

  • Jonni can be seen overseeing the progress almost daily, a pleased look on his face. Jonathan most always stands by his side, the two carrying on a discussion, their motions indicating they are "seeing" how it's all going to look before it's completion. Some note that while Jonni looks pleased, he also looks tired and worn.

  • Having grown bored with the lack of response from Dentin as Elanor and her pixie friends bomb him… She instead resumes her usual task of doing her best to irritate Celebring.
