Ocean's Plea


  • Ocean vanishes for a couple of days emerging from the Mermaid, blinking slightly, but looking less tired and more together than she has in a while.

    Following the devastation of the war and the repetitive loss of citizens in kobold and similar assaults, and following on from her work with the children of the refugee camp during the war Ocean has let it be known that she seeks backers and aid with regards to setting up a permanent orphanage for those children without homes of their own. With sufficient backing to make it worthwhile she will take her proposal to the senate.

    Hedia hears of Orphanage and goes in serch for Ocean to talk to her about it


  • Progress is slow on organising a building for the Orphanage but it is underway. Ocean would like to gratefully thank the two people who have made monetary donations towards the cause, Drelan Ashire and Merydian.

    Any further donations would still be gratefully recieved as negotiations for the building are underway.


  • Penny, during one of her increasingly more frequent trips to Peltarch from the Gypsy Camp, inquires about the status of Ocean's orphanage plans and the requirements for adopting one of the children. Bystanders hear one of the guards suggest she direct her questions to Ocean herself, so Penny goes off in search of her.


  • Ocean let's it be known that she would like all those who pledged support monetary or otherwise to get in touch with her since an anonymous benefactor has covered the rest of any costs and the arrangements for the orphanage can now start to be made in earnest.

    Hearing of her plight and noble endeavor, but realizing that many are already aiding Gailyn sends a letter in a fine flowing script

    Dear lady Fyne,
    I have heard your plea for aid as countless others have no doubt and will not be content until I have given you what aid I can. I offer aid in the form of monetary compensation and care for the children. My skills extend beyond mere poetry and into the realm of both swordplay and magic both of which were used to help liberate the city in the civil war. Useful skills for surviving these harsh lands and you no doubt have your hands full with the dozens of orphans currently without a home. If my offer intrigues you know that I could only accept two or at most three of the children to personally educate in addition to whatever learning they receive from the bards. In return I ask only your good will and would appreciate your vote if you deem me a worthy candidate so that I may see justice prevail in our city.

  • With offers of support both physical and financial flooding in Ocean seems pleased that she also now has agreement from the headmaster of the Bardic College for his apprentices to be sent to teach the children of the orphanage when it is built, full knowing that she herself is not the best educated nor the most understandable teacher.

    Dearest Ocean,

    Your concern for the budget of my dearest cousin is of course charming, but I assure you…Rath Ashald is indeed a paragon of virtue. He is a statesman and a gentleman. His concern would lie with the poor underpriviledged children. I am certain he will make great strides in acquiring funding from the city to assist with the construction of a municipal orphanage. I do appreciate your... letter.

    After listening Ocean speak, he raises an eyebrow at the thought of a large group of children speaking in undiscernable common

  • Magistrate Barrim is pleased to hear of the initial offer from Ocean, the welfare of children well known to be important to those that know him well. Pleased also to hear of promises of monies from his dear friend Lady Des. He sends a note to Lady Des's rooms to be read on her return for the proposal for the first grand ball in the Feasting Hall to celebrate the liberation of the city.

    He then heads off to the tailors to commission a new fine dress suit for the occassion, as well as a set of riding leisure-wear.

    Alice Marrian quickly voices interest in helping out the endeavor to create an orphanage.


  • Ocean speaks happily with those pledging support seeming to have finally slept, a smile on her face.

    She spends many hours penning a reply to Lady Ashald that looks as if written by one of the children themselves.

    Merydian's eyes light up when she hears of the orphanage and quickly asks if they will need any staff or volunteers. She looks rather eager to devote as much time as she can to the "dear children". As an afterthought, she adds that she will help financially if need be as well

    Drelan Ashire has pledged the earnings from his next couple of jobs, since he is now evidentally freelance again. He has also volunteered to help with the construction having studied such things albeit not as far in depth as a specialist, and is willing to loan a strong back.


  • Belade has pledged her support, both with personal effort, money, and help with constructing, and says that she will consult the Sunite community on this, perhaps they could help, once the Wilting Flower has been rebuild.


  • Lady Desi, recently returned to the city from visiting relatives in Cormyr, is suprised by the recent skirmishes. Once her Amethyst Hall is completed, she pledges the surplus of the budget to Ocean should she recive permission to build her orphanage. She speaks about a four figured amount of gold and stresses the importance to care for the orphans

    Dear Lady Ocean,

    Your remarkable concern for the children of Peltarch is commendable. I have already petitioned the senate via my dearest cousin Rath Ashald for the creation of the very first municipal orphanage. Also, due to my skills with languages and magics. I have offered to serve as Headmistress of the Municipal Orphanage and to manage and teach those dears who are displaced.

    You support for my endeavor will be very much appreciated.
