Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • A tall elf is heard to be looking for a human and spends lot of his time in the orc's western area. Reason and person,unknown.

  • @c3ec8d44e8=Revenant13:

    On a possibly unrelated note, a large group of Defenders and some adventurers were seen headed down into the sewers in the docks district. Depending on who one talks to, it seems they were going to clear the sewers of vermin for an upcoming VIP event, recover something that a senator lost down the latrine, or hunting down smugglers.

    _Upon hearing the comments regarding the retrieval of something a Senator lost down the latrine, Aranwe's eyebrows raise a bit and a smile crosses his face.

    He jokingly replies, "I'd like to meet this Senator that lost something most precious to the depths of the city. For all we found down there where undead and worse. Perhaps one of our very own Senators could be the source of the madness that has taken over beneath our feet?! Perhaps this Senator unknowingly spawns new beasts every night he visits the latrine?!…::he then smirks and looks over the gossiper with disdain::...fool!...keep your wild imaginations to yourself...

    ::he gives a sniff of annoyance and walks off toward the Defender's barracks::_

  • _Word has it that a demon appeared in the commerce district, but was fortunately discovered early by a Defender Archangel and slain with the help of other adventurers and Defenders. Cerulean knights were later seen cordoning off a certain house as part of investigations.

  • Something in the swamp stinks, and worse than usual swampiness, a berry picking chef reported, and so a drunk monk went to look. Four other adventurers left the city to investigate also, and some time later the monk returned alone stinking of thousand year dead fish. Fortunately for all she left again and the five returned smelling fresh as daisies but looking suspiciously at any gnome or hin they see for a while.

  • Rumour spreads of something dark stirring beneath the city… in any case, there has been a lot more traffic into and out of the sewers of late, and no-one's saying anything officially.

  • Butterfly's mood takes a turn for the worse, introspection and moodiness replaced with snapping and insults. There might be speculation as to why but barely anyone has noticed the difference.

  • _It would seem that Sabre is back in town after her curious absence during and after the mermaid incident (which she of course vehemently denies any connection to). Though the Black Sails captain is most frequently spotted catching the ferry to Oscura or sitting in business meetings at the Ferret, one more unusual occurance might have local tongues wagging:

    After a quiet word with Sabre, Guard Lt Lisa is said to have left her post and headed south in the company of the captain and a fellow Black Sail, alongside adventurers Arthur and Alicia. The party soon returned, carrying the mud-covered corpse of an unidentified man. Rumour has it the Sails not only evaded suspicion, but even aided the long arm of the law in investigating the reportedly gruesome murder, together with a handful of other volunteers. Word has it a house in the wealthier parts of the residential district was searched, guards later carrying several men out, unconscious or dead._

  • Rumours tell that the local instrument maker Renaldo has been robbed. How, and by whom, remains a matter of speculation. Renaldo has been seen blaming almost everyone he encounters.

  • Legion

    After a mysteriously extended stay at the jail, a haggard, unshaven Benji is released. After a few pints at the Mermaid he shuffles his way out of town making eye contact with no one.

  • _There was a beautiful wedding in the Peltarch gardens earlier this week… the full moon shone down on a pair of hin who said their vows before friends and associates. Celebrations continued long into the next day, before they finally departed on a fine caravan made for two, pulled by a pair of draught horses.

    Word is they're headed for Damara to see the sights, and won't be back for a month at least._

  • A cold wind begins to blow as darkness falls across the harbour, on the eve of the mermaid's disappearance. The storm grows rapidly in fury, the Icelace's waves lashing the docks, and howling winds, packed with sleet, cover masts and sails in a thin layer of ice. Then, suddenly, the winds die down and an eerie calm settles across the lake. A thick fog rolls in, the cold dampness of it seeming to seep through even the warmest of clothes. Not even the most daring captain would brave the Icelace on a night like this, yet several dockworkers, shivering with the cold as they come in for a pint at their preferred watering hole, all tell a similar tale of having spotted a ship gliding soundlessly through the mist, here one moment, and gone the other. Some swear to this ghost ship having blue sails, while others simply swear and mutter a prayer..

  • A nobleman from Oscura was seen in the Peltarch Library reading laws and history books alike, he then seemed to get into a fairly long conversation with a senator within the commons. The topic seemed to be the relationship of the two cities, but it is not known if anything else was touched on

  • @ab2110aa76=SummonerX:

    @ab2110aa76=Robyn:

    Making sure an amulet is on tight, Yana sighs and jumps in. After a few minutes, she hopefully drags Sabre the Mermaid ashore.

    Senator Ronan informs Yana before she jumps in that there are boats handy to use… so she doesn't have to dive into a freezing lake.

    When she toppled over and fell into the water, Yana didn't seem keen on spending time to grab a boat. The cold didn't seem to affect her anyway.

  • A tangled, bright blonde wig bobs on the surface near the mermaid's perch, and quite a few bottlecaps litter the rock itself, hard evidence of the mer-creature's hard drinking. Yet the mermaid herself is no-where to be found, nor is the recently suspiciously elusive captain Seesaw. Enquiries at the Lucky Ferret are met with stoic assurances that the captain is "busy elsewhere". If the staff are concerned, they're not letting on.

  • @3a51538630=SummonerX:

    @3a51538630=Karnivor:

    After the gleeful hail of stones, the badly bruised little mermaid creature's spirits had been visibly low, though as what later proves to be the last day of singing dawns, a new strategy is employed. Empty bottles of rum bob ashore during the day, as the mermaid's singing grows ever more raucous, though thankfully most of her words are lost on the audience, due to a failing voice and an increasingly slurred quality to what remains of it. Several times, the mermaid reels precariously on her rock to finally, as the last rays of sunshine spread their mild golden light across the waves, slowly, almost gently topple into the Icelace, disappearing.

    Assuming this is in sight of local residents of Peltarch… once news of the helpless mermaid reaches Ronan's ears, and the fact that a banned Umberlant is encouraging this rather torturous act, he informs the guards and defenders of what is going on and asks that the Sabre mermaid be retrieved. Seeming more urgent when the poor mermaid topples into the sea ever so gently, the white haired senator seems keen on aiding a citizen of Peltarch... even if it is an infamous Black Sail.

    And lo', on the seventh day of Sabre's confinement to the rock, the mermaid's siren song was faint and raw, and her skin like unto a patchwork of bruises. And the mermaid didst drink deeply from the elixir of sailors, and her words didst grow lewd, and redden the cheeks of honest men. And as the sun didst sink below the Icelace's frothful waves, so too did the mermaid, seen by surface eyes, nevermore..

  • Word begins to trickle trough the city that Adrian, the city's self-proclaimed Patron of the Bards Senator and his lovely wife Kallista are expecting their first child. And there was much rejoicing.

  • Rumors spread, particularly amongst the guard, that Magistrate D'Arneau has finally chosen an Inquisitor.
