Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • It seems that for a full day and night, a lone Kelemvorite… some know him as Kosef... was seen ferrying at least twenty dead Highholders from the smugglers cave near Peltarch to the ruined tower just south of Peltarch, burying each man and woman in their own grave. He then offers a prayer to Kelemvor so that they all may be judged and watched by the Lord of the dead.

  • Beware of Hats!

A recent incident at the Peltarch commons might have citizens turning suspicious or even fearful glances towards large and colourful wizardly headgear, as rumour has it one such hat came flying through the air on it's own accord. From this magickful hat of wonder sprang not rabbits, but something rather more sinister as three cockatrices leapt out to turn their eery petrification gazes upon city employees Lisa, Lycka and Raul. The leering birds are reportedly slain, but the mysterious hat is still at large.

  • Quite in contrast to the rumours of undead and monsterous slaadi is the recent sighting of Black Sails captain Sabre Seesaw, normally ever attired in sleek black, wearing something decidedly different whilst skipping, yes, skipping around the commons with an expression as dark as her outfit is white and frothy. Petite pink suade shoes dance softly against the ground, while a very short, very frilly pink and white skirt flounces with each step, in touching concert with the sailor's decidedly false blonde corkscrew curls, fastened into two adorable pigtails. A polkadot bandana and tiny white lace gloves complete the Cute an' Sexy Lil' Shepardess Outfit, possibly (though not probably) the next big hit at the Wilting Flower Shoppe.

  • Rumour has it the foothills recently saw a large-scale eruption of slaadi in a wide range of colours, all vicious and bent on destruction as their slimy kind are prone to be. The frog infestation was reputedly dealt with by Defender Aelthas, Cerulean Knights Lycka and Celebring, first aid specialist Sera and the merry priest of Glittergold, Rubo. After further investigation by a latter party, it seems the finger of blame lies on orcish spellcasters.

  • _One dark frosty night, all across the city, soldiers of wars long and not so long past rose from the ground, mindlessly attacking all those around them. Undead N'Jasti, Renegades of High Hold, Peltarch Defenders and even some of the fearsome Black Dragon Knights roamed the streets of the city, fully intent on delivering death anew to the citizens of the Jewel.

In the commerce district, the threat was quickly dealt with by the combined forces of city guards, Defenders and adventurers present, while the residential district saw a similarily swift and assertive swoop of the famed Archangel division, well suited to combating such foes.

As so often seems the case, the situation was most dire in the docks district, where the hardened Ignismon vet had a tough fight on their hands before pinning the undead hordes into the western part of the district. It is said the Ignismon captain Benthur was singing throughout the fight, his well-known hatred against undead in combination with Selunite eccentricity perhaps explaining the cheery battle chant of: "Smash 'em good, smash 'em good, the cap'n says smash 'em up good!"

With the aid of able adventurers and additional city forces, the docks were cleared and the undead put to rest, hopefully for good this time. While the pyres were lit in the docks, Cerulean Knight Lycka could be seen carrying the sole casualty of the fighting off to the temple - the Temposian known as Hammerhand._

  • In a case that has the docks talking, a young cleric who had just arrived in Peltarch burst into flame and burned to death almost the second he walked down the gangway. No mage or other fire-throwing type was seen. Local theories range from crazed Red Wizards to rogue fire elementals to the Insidious Doktor Zorn.

  • Word has it that the local orcish goons infesting the foothills have been up to new tricks, as an adventerous elf learnt when he was suddenly and brutally overwhelmed by his foes and carried off to a nearby cave. The attentive guards spotted the elf-napping, luckily enough, and alerted sargeant Yana and a small contingent of loiterers at the commons. Backed by Legionaires Hedia Gend and a large halforc, alongside Sabre Seesaw of the Black Sails, Yana lead a successful rescue mission and returned with the pale and shaken, but very much still living elf.

  • _Meye Spark, Hand of Auril, is seen to softly telling to local people of how all these sightings are signs that Frostmaiden has fixed Her gaze to the Peltarch and hows soon many shall feel how it is to get frozen from inside out and not to die. Not to die until they have seen their loved ones to die by their feet, their faces turning into awful grimace when their lungs get filled by shards of ice that causes unbelievable pain and slow death.

She always ends Her description of death to simple question._

"If thee can saveth thy loved ones and thyself with just declaring thy faith to Frostmaiden and paying thy tithes for Her through Her humble servant, why would thee not do it? Is there really a more foolish thing than vein pride in front of icy death that makes thee not able to kneel and pray, or trying to greedily hold of thy wealthe when thee cannot enjoy it no longer, neither can pass it to those who thee love?"

  • Snow falls down upon the outer southern gate one morning. Soon rumours spread speaking of the bodies of small winged ice creatures being found amongst the rubble of several statues at the same location.

  • Rumor has it that Senator Ashwynd was seen walking through the commons, from the docks district, and then quickly into the Mermaid Inn, his arm tightly around a young halfelf some would recognize as his son. The waitresses would say that the two stay in a room unless the Senator, gathers food and carries it back with him, and that Calen has only been seen recently leaving the Mermaid

  • Strangely enough the bard Elidur Ginen has been spotted wandering about here and there in search of dry rice where it can be bought - all accounts suggest he's carrying it off in small parcels to the Bardic College.

  • A familiar Senator with an uncommon small smile was seen seemingly awaiting something at the Mermaid Inn, in Peltarch. He was accompanied by a hin he called "Speedy" and last seen they were sipping hot tea and warming up as they talked of the recent weather change

  • Rumors about vampires in the nearby orc caves spread as a young tall woman in fullplate talks about a though vampire who feasts on orcs. She says the group she was with was unable to put the vampire to rest but that they luckily escaped unbitten and that it was possibly the thoughest foe she ever faced. Further she advices folks to not venture into those caves without a large group of capable women or men in company of a priest.

  • Rumors circle that Telli laughed audibly when she heard of the orcs whimpering to the guards. Milk nearly exploded out her nose when she heard Grak was the one leading the band.

"Dat farkers always goings on abouts da axe answers dis....da axe answer dats.... stupids hummie law... now he comes whimperings ta same hummie guards....HAH HAH..."

Telli begins chocking to the point of needing someone to smack her on the back

"Guess dog is a dog at da end of da day... and a cowardly'un tucks its tail under its bum...Heh heh..."

Telli wipes a few tears from her eyes patting the wooden table before her softly the irony nearly too much..... "phew....good'un..."

    Defenders bullying travellers
_Peltarch gate-guards, commoners and trader caravans witness and odd scene at the Peltarch Gate.

Small group of half-orcs in Iron Chain Clan -colors were spending their time near the small hill right outside the outer gates. They were talking in orcish and were apparently in middle of dividing a small amount of coins among themselves.

Then for apparently no reason, Peltarch Defender known as Aelthas came fully armored and armed to issue threats or "facts" about well being of group apparent leader, Grak. Party kept asking about the reason for being pestered and bullied, but apparently such was never given.

This bullying Defender then continued its way toward goblin infested swamp.

Passerbys saw and heard Grak going toward gate guards to ask was this truly the job that Defenders are hired to do? How such actions were tolerated and why Grak and his party were treated like criminals. He also asked that who protects travellers and traders from such bullying defenders._

  • Spontaneous Combustion

_Just inside the commons, a bearded man burst into flames - for no apparent reason. Wagging tongues might claim it was a cruel twist like Beshaba would do, or maybe it was the kindness of Tymora - first letting the man win a big price which he seemed more than ready to share with his fellow citizens and then causing flames from some horrible hell to spring up and devour the man body and soul.

And even while foul play of the divine sort seems the most likely culprit, there's no 'eye-witnesses' to support that it was a more easily believable lightning bolt sent by Talos himself. Was it just a freak accident? Had the man given offence to Kossuth? Or was it a complex, and thoroughly planned murder? And what have orphans and the temple to gain by such a vile deed?_

  • @27b2e66a6f=passionata:

A tall woman in fullplate asks around if someone recently had lost a crossbow and lets it be known that her name is Nora and that she wants to give it back to its owner. Further she says she will only hand it over if the one who claims it can say around where it was lost and give a detailed description of it.

    "Wog quickly seeks Nora out"

  • The recent auction at the Peltarch market is reported to have been a well-attended affair, with large amounts of gold and items switching hands, and very few disturbances on the whole. Aside from a loud and argumentative Kelemvorite, the only real snag in the smoothly run auction came towards the end, when a fireball suddenly struck the crowd from the hands of a gnomish miscreant in white and purple robes. The gnome swiftly fled the scene, but a party of Peltarch employees, Legionaires and volunteers later set out a search party, returning with a few cuts and scrapes and a story of successfully vanquishing the vicious gnomes from a nearby cave.

  • Senator Calen was given a note by the south gate guard. Shortly thereafter, he was seen following the guard in a state of high aggitation and worry.
