Tavern Rumors of Peltarch
-
It seems Aleksandr Borodin isn't the only member of that noted Peltarchian noble house to visit the Lucky Ferret Inn of late, as the enchanting figure of Vlana Borodin, flanked by her heavily armoured bodyguards, recently payed the establishment a visit in the company of several Black Sails. The Borodins aren't the only nobles caught slumming at the Ferret either, as none other than Rath Ashald was noted to have popped in after the latest docks riots, conversing with fellow Senator Redralen and Captain Seesaw.

::Rumours in the Mermaid speak of a body found in Ashald Park::

Vampire rumours persist in the city, the latest one mentioning a huge wolf running loose and a sudden darkness descending on the western gate, leaving two guards mysteriously missing, and a cart left in their place. It is said investigation of the scene found no trace of the guards, but footprints and marks suggest the contents of the cart was carried off under the cover of darkness - said contents being something oblong.. perhaps coffinshaped?

_After the Senate recently voted in favour of granting a Charter to the newly established Courtesan's Guild, things for the working guys and girls of the City have changed quite abruptly. Most Harlots no longer work for tavern owners, instead paying a moderate portion of their earnings to the Guild, in exchange for its protection and superior organising skills. For the average punter, not much has changed, except that rates have risen for those whores the Guild deems worth more. Some of the prostitutes have not joined up yet, but most people surmise it is only a matter of time. The main source of resistance to the Guild is coming from the Pissing Goat Tavern, who have barred the Guild's leader Rhyla Featherdown, and anybody who signs on with her. Since a lot of the flesh trade goes on at the Goat, there are still a fair amount of courtesans there who feel forced into not joining up.
The enterprising new Guild leader, in the meantime, has been seen meeting with Heffa and other members of the Stonemason's Guild, apparently already thinking about building a Guildhouse somewhere in the City._

Having been informed of the recent raid, Shannon takes it upon himself, the following day, to raid the orc cave via the upper-level entrance that was not sealed. He returns to town with a sack of loot and a small, uncharacteristic smile on this face. Should anyone ask about what he did, he simply replies that he cleaned out the entire cave.

During the recent ferment in the Docks district, around the Harvest Union guild house, a tall, black-besuited and skeletal figure stalked the edges of the crowd, observing the legal investigations of the magistrate and city officers with an air of informed interest. Locals will recognise the chap as one of the lawyers of the House Borodin brood, the spiderlike cousin of the more prominent Vlana and Grigor Borodin, Aleksandr. He was seen departing shortly after, taking long and lugubrious strides towards the Lucky Ferret…

- Word is it that a senator named Marty with two fellow companions called Coin and "Paul Robbins" tried to fight back the Orcs at the farm, but due to heavy odds they were forced back*
-
A recent Orc raid on the local farm to the west of the city has left local farmer Duncan Hertwell and his family paupers. Beyond that of course, there are even more severe consequences, as the City's food supply dwindles to just what is imported by the Harvest Union, who have said they will increase their stock imports of foodstuffs if they are given assurances that their premises and members be protected from increasing threats from the general populace of the docks.
-
_Tensions continue to rise in the Docks, as an angry mob descended on the Guildhouse of the Harvest Union, intent initially on breaking into their storehouse and taking their fill of the food within. Senators Adrian Petrarch and Ronan Redralen were at the event, with Senator Petrarch attempting to disperse the crowd. He succeeded in calming them somewhat, but only when a nobleman in the crowd, one Johnathan Von Ulgath joined him after one man attempted to charge the Union's armed guards to lethal results. Not long after Captain Gerard Fortescue arrived on the scene, as did Magistrate D'Arneau and the crowd was effectively dispersed.
There was some argument between the Captain and Senator Redralen, though few seem to know what it was about. Afterwards, the Captain led an apparant raid on the Harvest Union's Guildhouse, with Lord Harry Filtan, the guildmaster, being led away for questioning as part of Magistrate D'Arneau's ongoing investigation._

Senator Ashwynd is seen walking into the Mermaid in his regular clothes. He ordered something to eat and a room for the night. His signature smile that is usually always bright is gone, he did not speak to anyone, and he seemed to be in deep thought while eating and before retiring. What could be affecting his mind so is anyone's guess.

_A very large pale man enters Peltarch from the docks, he makes his way through the commons to the market. He is heard asking around about work and various organizations around the city. He later heads out the west gate for several hours, upon returning he throws a handful of orc ears at the feet of the guards saying "Pay attention boys, they were on yer doorstep…" before walking into town.
Later that evening he is seen talking over some ale at the Local Mermaid with several different individuals. Rumors spread that he's called "Marshal" and that he's some merc from Oscura, best to leave him alone. The man rents a room and rests for the night, and the next morning he is seen heading for the boatman to Oscura..._

A ship was blown up in Peltarch's docks recently, taking some time to move the hulking wreckage out of the port.

_Explosions seemed to rock the city once again, this time in the Residential district. The guard moving to seal off the District quickly again under the patient command of Captain Garand. Several guards were reported killed, as well as two Cerulean Knights by what appears to be, Underdark creatures, not to mention at least two dozen citizens.
Well known figures were seen wandering the district after the explosions, looking for cover. Ex-General Lavindo was seen taking Senator Fisher to the Temple of Tyr, Rhyla Featherdown was seen escorting some of her girls to the same place, while Lady Vlana Borodin was seen with two of her guards, blasting Umber Hulks to ashes or cutting them down with steel outside the Borodin Estate. Enenan Snydders was seen outside his estate, blasting away creatures with his spells, grumbling about his wasted components and his flowers being trampled.
Magic Eaters, beetles, spiders, Umber Hulks were among the creatures who were forced from the sewers after the explosions, a group of adventurers – including notables such as Senria of the Oscuran Peacekeepers, Jay of the Black Sails, Benji of the Legion, Magistrate Shannon, Senator Adrian Petrarch, and Nure of the Bardic College -- lead by Cerulean Knight Lykca dispatching them all with only a few loses to their side. Even after a run into the sewers itself to find the cause of the disturbance, they emerged, covered in sewage and escorting four people who were said to be living down there.
Captain Garand expresses his thanks to all the adventurers for their help, as well as to the various citizens who put up a fight to save the lives of others. A potter by the name of Jenson Fendol is being honored by the city for his daring rescue of a group of children from the clutches of a group of spiders that cost him his own life._

Despite advice to the contrary, Senator Martoushca Leaffall still lives out of a tent pitched in the docks area.

_Recently, several explosions rocked the city, flames shooting high into the sky from the docks district. The Guards, under the expert command of Captain Fortescue closed off the entrance to the docks quickly, soon being reinforced by Archangel Defender Squads, Cerulean Knights and Far Scouts. As the Captain waited for reports from the various groups before sending more men and women into the docks, a group of adventurers went in.
Undead, cubes of goo and several wererats and apparent cultists seemed to pour from holes created by the explosions, from the sewers. The over powering smell of burnt flesh and sewage hanging over the district for days after. Even though two adventurers seemed to die in the assault, one being the Senator Adrian Peltrach, the undead and other nasty things were destroyed or killed.
Other rumors also circulate of Captain Fortescue having to beat down a few self important adventurers who decided to try their luck at jumping his barricade without permission, this ending up in an apparent attempt on the Captains life in plain view of several city employees and citizens by an elven sorceress. Magistrate Shannon D'Arneau being the arresting officer, dragging the unconscious body of the elven woman back to the Gaol.
As the day lingers on, the docks are secured, the remaining holes to the sewers which didn't collapse are sealed up by the Defenders, Archangels are posted at all sewer entrances in case anymore undead decide to emerge and the buildings which caught fire are surveyed for repairs. Several are reported dead or missing, but the docks seems to return to normal in the morning, although people are looking over their shoulders and at the ground more often._

_Rumor has it that several Defenders were brought into the city, bound by ropes and some even bloody, all disarmed. Some say traitors, some say a training exercise, whichever it is, some Defenders seem on higher alert than normal.
It also seems the other day, a woman was taken into custody by Lieutenant Aelthas, Knight Lycka, Guardswoman Yana and the mage Celebring, the word Renegade was said and she was seen entering the cells, but not coming out.. word slowly seems to make it's way out that Jennifer the White, the Renegade Diviner has been caught finally, having been hiding in the city since the war._
-
_Rumour has it that the Senate recently voted in favour of a lucerative trade agreement with the City of Oscura, which the local Guilds hope will help to revitalise the City's ailing trade intakes. Of particular importance is the importation of stone, which has always been an expensive import for the Jewel, and which remains a prime commodity after the damage done during the war.
The only remaining question is who will handle the shipping between the two cities. Rumours from those present at the meeting at City Hall say that Oscura was in favour of the Black Sails handling shipping, but the League of Guilds is expected to vote in favour of the City's two main guilds, the Seafarers and Wavebreakers to receive the valuable contract (in one of the few areas where the rival guilds are likely to vote with each other on in the League)._

Rumours of vampires are the common trade among gossip mongers nowadays, with most stalls and merchants in the marketplace selling all sorts of merchandise aimed at repelling the terrifying creatures, from cloves of garlic to holy water blessed by dieties such as Lathander or Kelemvor. According the the Peltarch Guard there have been no reported incidents that resemble vampire attacks as of yet, but that hasn't stopped rumour after rumour of people being sucked dry when walking alone after the fall of dark.
-
Rumours spread of a vampire being caught between the inner and outer door of the western gate, through the skillful actions of the Peltarch Defenders. After being interrogated by Defender Lt Aelthas Benthur and Cerulean Knight Lycka Zomasdottir, the beast burst out of the confinement and was promptly burnt to ashes by the morning sun. More alarming than this incident in itself, however, are the rumours claiming this vampire was just one of countless others, all travelling towards Peltarch.
