The life of Belade Galadon the Brave

  • In this tome, I shall try to tell you all I know about the life of Belade Galadon, paladin of Sune. I shall start at the start, over 150 years ago, in a small hamlet, long lost to legend. I have spent many days searching through records, yet my search has brought up little. All that I know with some certainty is that it was situated in the Moonsea area, on the edge of the Cormanthor forest, that every inhabitant was a moon elf or carried their blood, and that they numbered less than 50. Every one of them, but one, died 117 years ago, during a bandit raid, in which it was burned to the ground. No one knows for sure why Belade was spared. Maybe because she was already beautiful then? Her young age? Pure luck? Or perhaps they were just in need of a slave for some chores. Whatever the reason, she was spared, and for that I praise the gods. I myself have tried asking her for information about the time she spent as a slave, but she refused to tell me more than what is already known, though that is horrifying enough. They kept her as a slave for 6 decades, enduring horrible torture daily. While those around her grew old and passed away, only to be replaced by new, equally cruel faces, she remained a child, unable to stand up for herself. When the band had to march for days, to escape pursuers, she had to walk with them. When they hid for weeks, she starved with them. When they held a feast after a victory, she…I shall write no further about this, for the mere thought sickens me. It is a miracle that she lived through this time, and for the fact that she did not suffer permanent damage, I praise Sune.
Salvation came when the bandits overestimated their own strength, and tried to abduct a Sunite priestess, travelling through the area. Included is the testimony of her bodyguard, Silarion De T’elsalaar the Fair, a great half-elf paladin of Sune, who later became Belade’s mentor.
