Character Name: Minos the Spider Slayer

The town of Torsch did not take kindly to this lowly thief. Cast out within a day… how pathetic. I looked east down the endless road and then north to the Satyrwood. My stomach rumbled and I spat on the dirt road, thinking about finding food.

Peering just inside the wood, there was a rasberry vine meandering its way up a locust tree. My stomach rumbled again. I stomped through the woods to the small clearing the tree stood in the middle of, not using my good senses to pay attention to any of my surrondings or to move silently to the tree. As I grabbed for the berries scattered all along the vines, I heard skittering and the sound of broken branches, I swung around wildly, caught a brief glimpse of a huge spider, and then blacked out.

I awoke, several days later being looked at by a pair of dirty looking humans. They were covered in mud but thier faces were kind. They offered me some bread, and took it eagerly, starving, and tried to sit up, but it was too painful. They shushed me and spoke quietly between them in a language I could not understand, and then left without a word.

They brought me food for several months, until I was well enough to go outside. I still could not understand them, but I set to work, aiding them in thier farming in the small village as a small repayment for them saving my life.

Over the months, my sharp mind picked up thier language, and I began to join them in worship of Chauntea. It was a peace I had never known before. I was happy.

The harvest months came, and we set about gathering the crops for the field for the winter... but on the third day of the harvest, one of the workers, Pepe came running from the far end of the field, shouting "SPIDER SPIDER!" I ran back to the hut I lived in and grabbed my gear from my days as thief and prepared to defend my new home.

I failed. One of the spiders bit me and left me for dead. I still have the mark on the back of my neck. The crops were gone, all hopes for them destroyed... and all the ones I could find were dead. I buried them, blessed thier souls to Chauntea, and left, I couldn't stay. I headed north.
