The loves of young Lilac
-
Character name: Lilac Amastine
Player login: NahvusLilac was born in the time of year when lilacs are in bloom. Her mother named her after the flower, whose scent drifted into the room and soothed her in the middle of a difficult birth. Lilac grew to love the scent of the flowers that bear the same name as her, and other flowers too. Her father is an elven warrior, her mother a human sorceress. Lilac grew up in a happy environment, loved by her parents. She admired her mother immensely and wanted to become like her. When Lilac was two years old, her mother gave birth to a son, who was called Tesio. After Lilac overcame her initial jealousy, she learned to love her little brother. When it turned out that Tesio wasn’t exactly very smart, Lilac stood by him and helped him understand what he didn’t, and be understood by those who didn’t understand him.
Lilac’s childhood was mainly a happy one. She spent most of her time with Tesio and her mother, who taught them many things. Lilac learned that she had the same tendency to magic as her mother, and she learned some basic spells from her mother. Their father was often away fighting some war, and when he came home, it was always a special occasion. Lilac grew up to be a very pretty girl, and many boys noticed her. Lilac became aware of this, and as she was a romantic soul, she threw herself into relationships with fierce abandon. The boys, who had really expected something lighter and more casual, became frightened and broke the relationships. At first, Lilac was depressed, but soon she developed a defence mechanism, and said that the boys were boring anyway. They knew nothing about true romance, she exclaimed.
At the age of fifteen, Lilac fell in love seriously for the first time. It was a young, handsome elf, who Lilac’s father was training to become an archer. The young elf, Galendur, stayed with Lilac’s family for months. He responded to Lilac’s feelings and they had an intense romance, that lasted almost a year. It ended when Galendur finished his training and was forced to return to his family and marry an elven lady. Lilac’s father tried to reason with Galendur’s family, but they wanted to follow their traditions. Lilac was severely depressed for some months, until her innate optimism won and she saw that there would be others to love. However, she never wanted to hear anything about Galendur ever again.
Galendur had given Lilac a book of elven love poems, and this had encouraged her to read more poetry. She learned to love poems, as she already loved romance stories. The book of poems was Lilac’s most treasured possession. After Galendur, Lilac didn’t throw herself into love relationships as strongly as before, but she still fell for young men very easily, and thought every time that it was true love.
On Lilac’s seventeenth birthday, her father brought back a big black cat from his travels. He said it had belonged to a dark wizard, whom the father and his companions had fought and killed. The cat was Lilac’s birthday present, and she started to follow Lilac around everywhere. It turned out that the cat was very young, and she started to grow up rapidly. Lilac named her Bitey, because she had a bad habit of suddenly jumping up and biting Lilac. She would never bite anyone else. Bitey became an important companion to Lilac. Tesio had learned to love the woods, and he spent more and more time wandering about, and Lilac had started to feel a little lonely. She had no close friends. Most of the girls in town were jealous to her and the boys were a little frightened of her.
When Lilac was 20, she fell in love with a merchant who led a caravan from the south. His name was Meren, and he was experienced and very handsome. As it was inevitable that he would have to leave soon with his caravan, Lilac decided to go with him. He persuaded Tesio to join the caravan as a guard and used that as an excuse to come along, as well, to look after his brother. They travelled north, and Lilac was quite happy with Meren, who had seen many places and had many interesting tales to tell. Meren, however, soon grew bored of the young girl, and when they reached Peltarch, he sold his wares and left as soon as possible, without even saying goodbye to Lilac.
Instead of becoming depressed, Lilac became very angry. She decided to stay in the area a while. She had a short affair with an older nobleman in the city, but she soon tired of the life in a noble house. The nobleman wouldn’t allow Bitey in his house, which further angered Lilac. She set off south and came to Jiyyd. As she had nothing better to do, she decided to stay there and see what she could find.. She doesn’t believe that there can only one true love in a lifetime and she’s looking for a great romance. Maybe she’ll find it here. She also wants to learn more about magic, and about her chosen deity, Mystra. Lilac is certain life holds many good things for her.
