Folk Legend of Ethuil Cherryseed

  • One recent evening at the Mermaid, a petite violet-haired, violet-eyed elf in a red dress recited her completed work on the Ballad of Ethuil Cherryseed, declaring, "The legend and folk hero will grow and grow!"

As she stood, it was easy to see Juniper was beginning to show., the slight swell of her belly leaving little doubt the petite elf was with child for anyone that cared to note.

Not a trained singer by any stretch of the imagination, her voice still carried something of melodic tone as she sing-songed her work. The last verse she doesn't really sing-song so much as slip into a dramatic, Shatner-esque interpretation.

    "The Ballad of Ehthuil Cherryseed.

Oh, the Leaflord is good to me,
And so I thank the Leaflord,
    For giving me the things I need;
The sun and the rain and the cherry seed.
The Leaflord is good to me,
    Ethuil Cherryseed!

Oh, and every seed I sow,
    Will grow into a tree.
And someday there'll be cherries there,
For everyone in the world to share.
Oh, the Leaflord is good to me,
    Ethuil Cherryseed!

Oh, the earth is good to me,
And so I thank the earth,
For giving me the things I need:
The sun and the rain and the cherry seed.
The earth is good to me,
    Ethuil Cherryseed!"
