Norwick - Recent Events!!!!!!!!!
-
_Rumor flies throughout Norwick of a grand display which took place in the Arena within just the last tenday. Chief Vos, emerging from the barracks with Hannibal and Maria in tow, ordered the militia to sound Norwick's Horn for a public address.
Chief Vos, who's served Norwick countless years and is now rather advanced in age.. (some say even he lost track of how old he is at this point) publicly announced his intentions to step down as Norwick's Chief and, recently, de-facto leader of the listless barbarian town.
Hannibal, a long-standing member of the Norwick Militia who has taken it upon himself to play a key role in many of Norwick's recent happenings, was said to have stripped himself of armor, sword, and shield to face great beasts! Some say this was a nod toward the old ways of Norwick.
After proving his strength, it's said Chief Vos himself descended to take the man on - again, a throwback to more barbaric times, but a show of strength nonetheless to a now surprised and perhaps confused militia-force.
As the two men ascended from the Arena's Pit, the servants are Norwick were ordered to bear witness to Vos' proclamation. With the Keep's return and recent happenings in the Rawlinswood… Norwick is given an opportunity to once again become the great bastion of safety in the Nars that it was once.
Maria, Keeper of Spellweaver, has been named interim Arcane Advisor of Norwick.
Hannibal, Simple Guardsman of the Norwick Militia, has been named successor to Chief Vos, and given control of Norwick's Militia.
For the time being, Hannibal will take on the role of de-facto Chancellor, until such time that a new Chancellor is named._
Norwick has erupted into chaos since that night. Rumors fly unbounded. The farmers have already requests tax reductions, as well as going so far as to suggest a new taxation on adventurers to subsidize their crops.
Crime has been on the rise…. with the citizenry now emboldened by Vos' decision. Is Hannibal a strong leader? Will crimes go unreported during the transition? The threat of riots and looting is an everpresent possibility, though for now order has been maintained.
Will the Dwarven Hold recognize this decision? There had been talk of dwarven coupes in the past.
Does Hannibal hold a firm grip on the militia, or is there a possibility of an internal power struggle?
Some citizens express concern that Peltarch itself may attempt to "colonize" Norwick. The peasantry here fears the servants of Siamorphe may feel Norwick is better off in their hands.
There are, as there always have been, mixed feelings concerning Maria. Will Norwick become a slave-state to the Spellweaver Keep?!
The questions and rumors will continue to pour in. Only time will tell what becomes of Norwick.
